The best OLED's out.
Here is what they say when they compare the TVs:
It's a bit brighter overall than the A95L, which is great for those looking to get one of the brightest OLEDs on the market. It also has lower input lag, HDMI 2.1 bandwidth on all four ports, and supports up to 4k @ 144Hz, which makes it better overall for gamers. Unfortunately, it still can't compete with QD-OLEDs' sheer advantage in color vibrancy, so the A95L slightly edges it out.
So basically it is better than the A95L, except if you value "colour vibrancy" over peak brightness, and many useful gaming and future proof features. Which is what Rtings seem to do.
Apparently QD-OLED have more "burn in" issues than regular OLED but that might just be hearsay.
I think you'll find many other reviewers will rate the LG higher.

It doesn’t sound like the Sony is worth $2k more.
Mind you I’m not sure this is worth double some other very good oled tvs
@serpserpserp: Sony has the superior image/motion processing though. What I usually tell people is that the Sony is better if you don’t game much, but if you do then get the LG. Of course, at this price, the LG is a no brainer.

This is debatable. This was easily the case 10-15 years ago, but now the upscaling and processing is so close it is barely mentioned in reviews. Basically both TVs are very good at it.
When you stand in front of both at the store they both look amazing. I doubt on a side by side watch test you'd notice much difference and would really just be a colour "volume" preference. But then the LG just is a lot better from an all around hardware perspective. I mean when you buy a TV, if someone comes around with a PS5 or whatever you'd surely want it to be pumping out perfect visuals.

When I was a kid in the 2000s, I had one of the first LG LCD monitors with built in TV tuner, and my mates had never seen an LCD TV before - they used to tease me that LG was short for "Lachies Gay" lmao 💀

Comparing a TCL TV to an LG OLED TV is like comparing a Toyota Corolla to a Lamborghini Aventador. Both serve their purpose and have their own merits, but they cater to vastly different audiences with different priorities and budgets

Yeah, maybe a Toyota Corolla to a Koenigsegg might have been closer. Sorry, but some people and their comparisons are completely off the mark. Cooldog mentions "Only TCL has a decent price for what it is worth. Different people will always value different products to their wants/needs. Everyone has their own wants, disposable income, and justification for spending what they feel is appropriate for their purchase. Yes, this is OzBargain, but to say that "Only TCL has a decent price, I find somewhat pointless unless you can justify your point.

LG and OLED's in general are stagnating pretty quickly, and TCL has some great sets coming out this year

I watch my tv from 2.5 meters away on a 55". This is tempting. Would a 77" be too big?

For movies, I would say no. Personally, I find the better the peripheral vision, the better.
I went from 55" to 65" and it is a Hisense OLED so not great at upscaling. But Kayo is the problem for example, streaming games at 1080p not 4K. It was very blocky. I think at 2.5 meter (similar to my setup) stick to 65" with good processing. At 77" the PPI is too low.
I switched my PC monitor from Ultra wide PC and now run a 2017 iMac with 5K 27" at the best PPI and it is much better. I RDP into my PC and am not gaming for now, this setup rocks for productivity. I'm a PPI slut now. I want 8K 77" OLED, until then, I'm deciding to hold until next year.
I just can't imagine how this is worth almost double the price of our 77" C3

LG online store got it down to $7,649.23. That's down from $8999 with another 15% discount. That's registered as a VIP (free) as well as an EDU email.
TGG were able to beat it at $7600. That suited me because I had a few gift cards from previous deals. I put $2k on Latitude to get a $250 gift card, and put the rest on a $4999 gift card I bought via Macquarie at 3% off.
Overall that probably brought me down to about $7000 which I was happy with.
I was debating the Bravia 9, but decided I wanted to keep OLED for now.
