  • I don’t need another power bank, I don’t need another power bank…

    • Honestly, if you don't already have another capable power bank this thing is so cool. Like being able to charge a laptop from 0 to 80 is such an awesome feeling. Its already saved me a few times and my friends too. Its a good conversation starter and people always mention how fast it is (even though its a placebo). I think people being able to see the fancy numbers of voltage and amperage makes them feel like it charges faster. My only gripe with it is that the little rubber feet on it have a tendency to fall off so I've had to superglue them back on, and the included little sleeve is okay, I wish they sold a hard case for it instead.

So in short, I only recommend if you don't already have a 100W portable charger. I got mine originally for $63 a few years ago, so I like to think that this is a good price.

Well, I have amassed two 65w (Anker and inui) so I think I should be happy with what I have now. It’s definitely a good price but I can hold out for a few years methinks. Considering that I only have one device that’s demand 100w, I think I should be good for a while.

Just wanted to let people know about the "faulty" powerbanks that you may receive. Long story short before I bought this, I found some comments claiming that it doesn't last the full 100% and stops at 30%-50% when its charging your device via USB-C PD. When I had this issue, I reached out to the seller and managed to get a replacement powerbank but I have noticed that my original faulty one wasn't asked to be returned and it is now kind of like "bulging".

    • +1

That is… concerning.. can you post a photo comparison to show the bulge?

That is a serious failure in the battery and it will eventually explode if it’s failing that fast.

Hello, the one with the yellow marking is the old faulty one (it was my old nametag). https://postimg.cc/gallery/Y2SN9rN It may be difficult to see perhaps I'm the one experiencing placebo.

a photo comparison to show the bulge

        ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Had the same issue with their other 20000mah powerbank. Once it hits 40% it behaves erratic. Starts trying to charge itself while connected to my laptop, doesn't provide any fast charging whatsoever, can still slow charge till it hits 0%

      • Yes, I completely forgot about how it does slow charge until 0% but yeah it was so annoying when my laptop started to charge it instead.

Just be aware this isn't the newer "Pro" version which is smaller and addresses many of the quality issues this model had/has.

    • I don't think there is a pro version. there is a Blade 2 version? I assume this is what you mean. https://www.baseus.com/products/blade2-smart-power-bank-65w-…

      • That’s only a 65w output… I see other power banks on their website but none which look as slim.

        • +1

Correct. Smaller and only 65w. I wasn't comparing the specs more, mentioning that I was not sure there is a "pro" version and just the "2". :)

        • Looks good but at $140 (potentially with 10%’off?) it’s still about double the price of this deal so I thought I’d give the original blade a go.

          • +2

@jace88: It goes on sale quite regularly and can be had for less than $70 eg. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/832872

            • @razza: Is that the blade HD though? The naming in the eBay item didn’t seem to call it out if it is

Edit: looking at the pictures in item description it looks like it is… wonder if I can cancel or return the non HD one… hmm

              • +1

@jace88: Blade HD is what it's called in the US. In Australia it's referred to as the Pro.

                • @razza: Baseus asked me to just reject the delivery and then they can refund it since it's already shipped…. hopefully this works and then I'll order the HD which looks smaller and lighter!

  • How’s this vs the popular Anker 737 model which is around $150 on sale? I have the Anker and it works flawlessly with my MacBook, Zephyrus G14 2024 gaming laptop and ROG Ally given it can even do upto 140w but it’s really heavy and awkwardly bulky to carry meaning I tend to leave it at home.

This Baseus one looks really slim and half the price and can also charge 100w… other than this model are there any alternatives? I don’t mind it being a little larger if it’s thin and can fit in a laptop sleeve.

    • The ankers are the best in the market. These baseus ones have too much issues.

      Go for zmi isntead

  • The Baseus one arrived today. I had intended to reject delivery so I'd refund it and get blade HD but unfortunately the delivery guy dropped it and ran (didn't ring intercom)… despite me also emailing the shipping company who said they'd be able to cancel it, only to email me a short while later to apologise saying too late.

Opened it, and whilst it's not light (500g wasn't ever going to be not noticeable), at least it's form factor reminds me a bit of an iPad Mini (maybe slightly smaller) which means it slots into thin laptop bags/satchels easily like a pad of paper. The pouch it comes with is horrible quality (feels like I could have done significantly better in year 7/8 textiles class) and can't even fit the USB-C cable in or stay closed, but I guess it'll help prevent it scratching my laptop in the satchel.
