The newer Master 3S model is regularly posted here for this same price. I'd expect this model to be much lower for it to be a good deal :) unless some people don't like the new silent switches on the 3S, then this may be a decent deal for them…

    • The black ones have always been more expensive than the grey ones.

Although it does say it's a Mac version, which may explain why the underside of that one is grey, whereas it is black on my black version.

    • Not trying to start a debate but I'm one of those who hates the quiet clicks and been waiting for the 3 to go on sale.

Isn’t the Bolt receiver included with the 3s?

Edit: ah, they’re referring to the Anywhere 3s, which does not include the receiver. I misread that as Master 3s, which does include the receiver.

    • +6

Why are you talking about the Anywhere 3/3S? That’s not the mouse the OP posted.

      • +1

Well, while the name is wrong, information is mostly correct. I believe he just confused names.

    • I thought my 3S came with a bolt receiver…

  • +4

I got one of these off eBay brand new for $45
It’s the Mac version but it doesn’t matter
Wouldn’t pay more than $50 now as the mx master 4 is due to be announced late this year

big and heavey, MX anywhere series are better.

    • +5

Depends on your case use. I have both (Anywhere for the office, Master for the home office; I really miss the horizontal scroll wheel when I use my Anywhere)

  • +1

Great mouse. Got it for similar price very happy!

  • +1

Wish they could release one with a middle button sideways functionality like the Revolution MX had, instead of almost identical revisions of the same mouse calling them new versions.

    • I miss my old Revolution MX. They haven't made anything as good as it since.

  • +1

3S is regularly available for this price. Lots of comments saying the 'anywhere' is better. I much prefer the MX master but your hand/grip geometry will likely be the deciding factor.

  • +2

Ive had a MX 2 for nearly 10 years and holding up strong. Used daily for work

  • I'd let any power user be aware before buying that the scroll wheel can be laggy and slow to respon to quick scrolling direction changes due to the magnetic scroll system. It absolutely bugged me and I had to return my Master 3s.

    • This isn't the Master 3s

      • They both use the same scroll wheel

        • Did you adjust the scroll settings in the software?

          • @Phesto: Yes I have adjusted the SmartShift settings in the Logi Options+ software. The problem isn't with the software (I believe) but is an inherent flaw with the MagSpeed scroll wheel design. The electrocmagnetic sensors are not as sensitive or responsive as a mechanical ratchet sensor, I don't have this issue with my older Anywhere 2s and Master 2s mice scroll wheels.

Ymmv, some people don't mind how it scrolls (my friend has a Master 3 and it has the same scroll wheel feeling which he doesn't notice), but some will.

  • Take 2 at my precious comment… thanks all.

It's not the 3S, still a great mouse. I remeber getting my 3S for under $100.

The Logitech MX Master 3S and the Logitech MX Master 3 are visually identical productivity mice in the same lineup. The MX Master 3S is newer and includes several improvements. It has quieter left- and right-click buttons and an upgraded sensor with a wider CPI range. It also uses Logitech's new USB BOLT Receiver, while the previous generation MX Master 3 uses Logitech's older Unifying USB Receiver.

Actually bought one of those Rapoo mouse's to take to work as a cheap substitute for my MX Master. It's now my preferred mouse.

    • It is a cheap substitue and that cheapness can be felt in every aspect of it.

I mean, it works… But why would you prefer Rapoo? I assume we're talking this one https://www.centrecom.com.au/rapoo-mt750s-multi-mode-wireles…

      • I guess OP feels less bad if it gets stolen or if damaged 😅

        • +1

Not sure about how often these are getting stolen, but I dropped my OG MX Master onto concrete floors so many times I'm surprised it's still working.

I haven't dropped my Rapoo MT750s yet, but I wouldn't expect the same surprise. I might be wrong!

      • I bought the MT760, I was looking for a full featured mouse on the cheap and I picked it up for $30 on Ali Express during a sale. I actually wanted to use my MX at work however the work computers have administrator locks on BT devices and I had lost my usb receiver, the rapoo mouse can also be used wired which gives me more options when I luck out on the computers at work.

Perhaps I prefer it because i've been using the MX series mouse since forever and just like the feel of something different in my hands? Either way, it does the job and I have no real complaints at the minute.

  • I'm sure this is just me but… why the colour discrimination?
    I want the white, but it's +$30.

  • I have used most if not all MX mice, starting from MX Revolution to MX 3 and 3S, but recently switched to Lift and haven't look back.

If you spend a lot of computer time, try a vertical mouse for improved ergonomics.

The Lift is a bit small and a bit basic (i.e. not a Darkfield sensor and therefore doesn't work on glass or high reflective surfaces, also not rechargeable) but it is a more recent model (uses Bolt receiver) than the MX Vertical.

Looking forward to the release of MX Vertical 2.

    • +1

If they could implement a horizontal scroll wheel then I would try it.

      • The Life scrolls horizontally when the back button is depressed. Good chance MX Vertical can do something similar.

  • Nice deal but damn that colorway looks like ass

  • Out of curiosity, when i clicked the link, the price turned out to be $101.42.

Not that I am complaining about the couple dollars difference, just wondering if I misclicked something.

    • +2

WHAT, you're okay with flushing a couple of dollars down the virtual toilet on OzB!?
Exit stage left, and please, no encore.

  • No on-board memory == No buy.
Means you need to be constantly running their SW in the bg, consuming resources…. destroying the planet

    • Do you mean some combos/macros to store on-mouse, so when you click that extra button it sends eg. double click to the device?

This seems niche, as on-board memory, in that context, would be able to store only combinations of its own clicks to send to the receiving device - otherwise some software on the computer is still necessary to interpret what to do… Happy to be corrected here.

      • Having a mouse with on-board memory allows for storing settings and configurations directly on the mouse itself. This means you can use your customized settings on any computer without needing to install additional software or drivers. It also provides convenience and flexibility for users who frequently switch between different computers or gaming setups.
Sure you are limited to HID macros, but what else would u need? HID usage table: https://usb.org/sites/default/files/hut1_5.pdf

        • Thanks!

Without studying the reference you posted, can you give examples what you or others do with such macros? Just curious.

          • +1

@pizzaguy: With my G502 I have Ctrl + E, Alt + F4, Ctrl + W, Win + 3 and specific DPI options, which work across my computers without running G Hub… another PoS.

          • +1

@pizzaguy: If you truly wish to run software in the background, X Mouse Button Control (https://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/xmousebuttoncontrol.htm) consumes only 3MB of RAM compared to the 250MB of Logitech software. Additionally, it offers a wide range of customizable combinations. I utilize it for my trackball while in bed.

  • I was about to buy one and Mrs bought one from OW for $20… It's actually very similar to the MX logitech that I'm about to throw out which I thought was interesting given the price difference

  • S version is better, it’s silent version one.
