R.M.Williams up to 70% off Online Sale: e.g. RMW Briefcase $300 Delivered (RRP $599) @ RM Williams Online

1281

First post. Received this 'Friends of R.M.Williams sale' in my inbox but opened the link in an incognito tab so not a targeted sale. Might be a clear-out of old styles, but still appears to be quite a few sizes/colours still available and range of discounts from 40 to 70% off. Limited time only.

Some good deals to be found including:

    Boots?

    • +2

Looks like shoes aren't included at all

    • +12

The boots are the only thing made locally, and worth buying. Which is why they are rarely on sale if ever.

      • +7

The jeans and wallet are made in Australia

      • +7

What a dumb business decision to dilute the brand with crap rather than make a few very expensive other things. People have clearly expressed a desire to pay lots of money for their stuff.

        • +5

Tell the chumps stocking up on more Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger at DFO that … the whole notion of quality and brand are extremely decoupled these days. Saw a Ralph Lauren polo the other day with a cut that belonged in Best & Less. Shopping just for a name is a fool's game.

          • +2

@liam2040: Polo Ralph Lauren is all over the place in terms of quality. They still make some legitimately good stuff, but they dilute their own brand with crap too. PRL is still overall a more respectable brand than CK and Tommy though

          • +1

@liam2040: I mean that's the point. If you dilute the brand, you become exactly the same as the rest - and it's a crowded market that a local brand simply can't compete in.

Baby wants to be spoon fed instead of clicking on that big difficult link and browsing the sale page

      • +1

Why not? It would be convenient for everyone else clicking for the shoes too

        • +3

common sense would suggest that if RM Williams had boots on sale, the OP would mention it

        • -1

Then baby should click on the link and write its findings in the comments

          • +1

@park: Someone already did before your comment…but you have upvotes to make you feel good i guess

            • @skidexa: And I'll give one to you so you can turn that frown upside down

    • +22

In what universe is a medium fat? Why are you so short?

    • +6

Well they're clearing out unsold stock. So whatever is there is the products/sizes that the company overestimated demand for. Why would they aspire to have unsold clearance stock in every size?

Maybe it's time to literally put on some big boy pants, tantrum prince

      • -4

        Tantrum king, mind

        • +2

even a self roast gets downvoted on ozb these days

  • +15

Why not get it from THE ICONIC and use code HEYICONIC75 (new accounts) to get it at $284.40 delivered?

    • -6

How much discount does the code provide?

      • +2

        Did you do the maths?

Edit: I guess y’all want the answer to be fed instead

        HEYICONIC75

        • I wish i saw this earlier. Not worth returning over $15

    • +1

Brilliant - thank you. This worked for me even though I am not a new account.

    • Can you use the code multiple times by creating a new account?

      • +1

Not 100% sure but I used this code for a purchase last week and it went through, despite having bought something else using the same account before

        • It probably allows every account to use the code once, maybe?

    • +1

There’s always an unhappy soul around when I have helped lol

  • +1

Jeans good? They still seem pricy tbh

      • Are they a decent brand?

        • +8

          Lol

        • You get what you pay for.

          • @ThadtheChad: You just cancelled bargains

            • @nikoris: IMHO Bargin is getting something that is extremely good value. That could be something fairly high quality for a lower price.

Getting a cheap product for marginally less, while its a bargain, isn't necessarily a great bargain.

              • +1

                @ThadtheChad: Your post is redundant.
Noone expects a $17 pair of jeans to be as good as the $80-90 one. It isn't 'marginally less' though, it's a lot less.

                • @nikoris: Sorry - i misread (because the deal expired).

It was $40ish vs the RRP of $69, meaning a marginally lower price. $17 bucks for a $70 is an absolute deal. I agree.

        • +3

Only if the year starts with 19xx

  • +2

Only their boots (when on sale) are worth buying imo

    • -1

wrong, their small leather products are ok too

  • +12

I’ve got one of the briefcases from a previous deal and they have fvck all room for anything apart from a laptop really.

    • +4

That is good insight, thanks for sharing!.
I am in the market and was tempted to give this a g. I'll steer clear and keep an eye out for other deals.

      • It works for me.. laptop, notes, headset, phone, mouse, charger, other bits and pieces.

    • +1

I bought in the previous deal as well. I think the bag is too big! What else are you carrying in it?

    • -1

You must have a thick laptop. Mine fits along with chargers, docs. I think it's normal size. My 2nd screen (16inch) is a tad too big for it though.

      • +1

It’s not suitable for me to bring to work
Can’t fit my IKEA lunch box :(

    • That's interesting. I find mine to be quite roomy. I fit laptop, notebook, charger, lunch box, drink bottle, headset, with no issues.

      • Agree it's snug. But if I put more in there it'd be so heavy. I really like it.

    • -1

Is it because your arms are too short to reach into the bag?

    • -1

Time to upgrade your 40 year old laptop?

  • +2

Has any one tried their Jeans? Paying the price for a quality pair of jeans is worth it, especially on discount. I wear Neuw denim generally, but I like that RM Williams have size 34 x 34 (extra length).

    • +3

Rate the jeans. Great quality denim and the sizes are awesome. Made in Aust also

    • +2

      Moleskins, yes. Others no.

      Linesman - yes
      Loxton - in a pinch
      Ramco - meh

Cut and fit just isnt there. You can get better at same price points from Rodd and Gunn etc. Also, not all made in Australia Linesman are, others aren't.

      • +3

Proudly Australian-made, the Ramco Jean is a versatile straight-leg style

        • Got a few made in Pakistan. They may have changed post Forrest.

    • used to get good old Mossimo indigos in 34x34 but it seems impossible to find 34 length these days

    • Is their sizing pretty accurate?

  • +3

Dang no belts. Shame. Really been liking rmw belts been looking to get a third one

      • +1

You can always use a hole punch to resize up a little or down a lot or cut the belt down to fit also .
they even say to go up a size when buying
Bought leather belt years ago in store clearance for $40 ,
Best belt ever , just nice and wide at about an inch and a quarter , but won’t fit all jeansloops .
No idea about this vegan leather version but I would recommend going in store if you can .

        • +2

Veg tanned leather isn’t a type of vegan leather.

  • Are these RM Williams products still 'Made In Australia' ?

  • +5

    briefcase wañker

    • +3

      it's a clunge magnet

  • -1

Have bought a couple of items from RMW recently & been disappointed. Looks like mostly new old stock in this sale.

  • +5

    Their clothes are hideous.

    • -1

They are…! Especially their polos and rugby shirts - reminds me of rich dads with dad bods who play golf every weekend they can with their dad friends, also with dad bods.

      • +1

I thought RMW is a rich dad brand, is it not?

  • Ngl but the overnight bag RRP is a joke.
Had a mate buy one at "25% off" only for it to come down to a regular price of $399 the week after the sale.

    • Is the quality good though? I noticed it's imported. It looks similiar to the briefcase and I'm eyeing that

  • Any feedback on the briefcase anyone?

    • Very stylish and professional I think. Fairly slim and small.

  • Anyone had experience with the wallet?

    • it looks good.

      • There’s one review 1/5 “very thin leather”,
yet the singleton wallet has 5/5 reviews ,
make of that what you will .
If anyone can recommend a good leather wallet ,
Let me know, I’m looking .

        • +2

just received the blue singleton wallet from rm williams. Quite impressed with the leather quality and design. Soft leather and slim. Got a discreet coin pocket. Rate it.

    • I’ve used a similar one for the past 3 years. It’s Australian made and solidly constructed with good stitching, no fraying despite the beating I’ve given it.

  • +1

Got the briefcase from a previous deal, it's held up well since then, the leather is soft and smooth, magnet clasp works, basically does the job. Pretty pleased with it

  • -6

This is overpriced even at 50% off. You should be handing in your Ozbargain badge if you're buying these and thinking they're good value.

  • I have a friend that works there, even she says everything other than the boots are not worth touching.

    • I’ve had a peacoat that I’ve had for 4-5 years now and it’s quality, got 2 belts as well and they have held up really well too.

    • +1

The belts and wallets are made in Aus and are excellent. A friend of mine buys their jeans (the ones made in Aus) and rates them, but they’re not my style so no personal experience with them.

    • +1

The briefcase is full grain leather which is the best grade of leather you can get - is that still not good?

  • Picked up some linesman jeans - let's see how they go. Thank you.

At that, are there any fashionistas who know of some better jean stores in Melbourne?

    • Urahara and Havn

      • Not exactly bargain-worthy… HAVN don't list their prices until you select a specific item…

        • +1

never said they were bargain worthy haha

in rough order of ascending price, these are brands i'd suggest checking out

          • Uniqlo (although their current range looks a bit limited imo, I think they used to stock more)
          • Levi's and Wrangler
          • Naked & Famous (Prime store), APC (Incu), Nudies, Neuw
          • then you get to the stores I already mentioned, which ranges from stuff like TCB and orSlow to Iron Heart. Up There might stock some good jeans too
          • @beltdrive: I figured it probably came with the territory, nevertheless thank you

    • Neuw Demin

  • -1

Any dash mats or mud flaps on sale?

  • -2

Please dont get a leather briefcase its heavy af

    • +3

      go to the gym lol

    • that means it has very thick leather which means it is a high quality durable product.

  • thanks OP, got a rugby top

  • wool blend denim is… interesting. curious how it'd fare after wash and wear. personally i'll stick with 100% cotton denim
