  • Anyone know if this would fit in the sub-trunk of the Tesla Model Y?

  • +1

My last one of these failed after six months and was refunded.

  • Does anyone know which compressor these Brass Monkey fridges use?

Anyone have one long term or used one on long extended trips that can comment on issues and reliability?

I have a 40L Engel that has been running great for over a decade now but was thinking about picking up a small 22L Brass Monkey one for the shorter 1-2 night trips but wondering if I should just take the bigger Engel.

    • +2

From my understanding, that era of Engels are the ducks nuts and won't die.

Spoken to many, but generally, people I've chatted too that has brass monkeys are happy with them as a bang for buck option then spending a bomb on the big names, and with three years warrantee IMO $199 what's there to lose??

      LG compressor.
I use a GH2073 Brass Monkey 41L dual zone w internal battery on short trips (~3 days) & works great.
Brass Monkey is a rebranded Alpicool - made in china by Foshan Alpicool Holding Group Co ltd.

  • I've previously owned the 22L and now own the 30L here. Along with an 80L from Evakool for big trips.

My brother has a 40L or around there Brass monkey as well . These things are as legendary as fridges. Use a bit of power as freezers.

Copped a fair bit of abuse on the trips and always held up to it.

  • These are not bad but what puts me off buying is the lid closing mechanism - its just friction and pretty much has to wear out in time.
You can see two little recesses in the body under the handle space, as if they had intended to have a latching lid and then didn't do it - would be a lot better that way

  • The bunning's one was made in China, seen on chinese web it only costs $400. Anyone want's to team up to save the international shipping cost?

  • What would be better, this or the Kings one? Currently same price for 30L.

Brass Monkey has 3 year warranty, Kings has 2 yr. Looks like the Brass Monkey is a bit bigger for the same amount of internal space.

    • I've heard nothing but bad things about the kings fridges, that's why I opted for the brass monkey one.

    • They're remarkably similar and I'm not surprised if they came from the same assembly line. RTM/Jaycar are probably nicer if you have problems with the product.
