Aldi Medion 31.5" Full HD LCD TV $259, 14" Ultrabook i5-3317U 8GB $749 from 24 Nov

120

Wife just picked up the latest Aldi catalogue and I spotted their Special Buys. Still 10 days away though — on sale on Saturday 24 Nov. On page 16 (scanned catalogue) is this Medion branded 14" Ultrabook:

  • Medion Akoya S4216
  • Core i5-3317U
  • 8GB RAM
  • 32GB SSD + 500GB HDD
  • 14"
  • 4 cell battery + 3 cell spare (that can replace removable DVD/CD burners)
  • Windows 8

More specification can be found here. It's really on the heavy side at 1.9kg though, as the term "Ultrabook" has pretty loose definition.

On page 17 (scanned catalogue) is this 31.5inch D-LED LCD TV (also Medion branded). However it has full HD resolution.

  • 3x HDMI interface
  • In-built HD tuner
  • PVR function

Good price for a Full HD and looks better than DickSmith's GE6800 (which is no longer available).

  • That TV looks really nice. I'm looking for something like that to mount on the wall in my room (32" with slim border). Do you guys reckon I should wait until Jan next year?

    • ya, probably wait for Soniq led tv at jb hifi.

    • What happens in Jan next year…?

      • NY sales…

        • flood damage sales?

  • Gonna grab that TV, if its any good…

  • For quick Novocastrians looking for a cheap big screen lappy, the newly opened Kotara store also still has the 17.3" i3 Medion Akoya E7222 (MD99060) for $399 as an opening special. I grabbed one myself! :)

They had heaps there when I got mine, but a friend couldn't find them & had to ask the staff to get one from out the back.

FWIW, the same lappy was recently posted here as a deal at $529: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/80540

    • Edit

  • damn good price for a Full HD LED 32"!

why cant they do specials on a 42" or bigger

  • Here is some info on the Ultrabook if anyone is interested: http://download1.medion.com/downloads/anleitungen/bda_400431…
    Still looking for a review.

  • went to Aldi 8:24am, couldn't find a single ultrabook, mountain bike half-gone, aldi trolley also half gone, it's Saturday people! sleep in please!

  • Bought that Medion 31.5" TV this morning, they had a stack of those. I am quite happy with it so far, switching channels takes a second, nic pic and I noticed it has auto volume setting ( which is off by default ) so I think it means I can finally stop adjusting volume every time I switch to Wii.

It is light and easy to carry, however I noticed perforated handles on the box a bit too late.

  • Bought the tv at top ryde this arvo was the last one and the box was slightly damaged but product was fine.
So far looks good, nice cheap upgrade from few year old 32" bought from aldi for about 700ish(which still works fine just time for update)

Just wondering the hz on this though cant find it..

  • Two Ultrabook left at Aldi Melb city store.
