Moto 50 fusion edge looking tempting , need to replace my Oppo X5 lite, wonder if we will see some price drops like with the G84 ?

      • Yep i can wait for another 6-9 months if thats really the case :p

    • I tried bing Lee eBay and it's 555 how did you get 489 plz?

      • Expired already, either promo ended or they realised the price error

Thanks for the reply! Wondered if it was a error. Bugger! Don't know what phone to get around the 5-600 mark dropped my Google 7 pro and screen is cooked. Have been disappointed with this phone anyway!

          • @Drewfis: Just received the price drop notification from Bing Lee eBay. Back at $498 delivered!

  • Anyone recommend this phone? What would be the closest pixel comparison? Pixel 8?

    • Seems to be slower than Pixel 6 :( But the colour is nice :)

$550 for a mobile that has a CPU as weak as one from 2019?

Don't mistake the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 for the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2.

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 is on par with the 855 from 2019. It's even slower than the 7 Gen 1. While the 7 Plus Gen 2 is really good, the 7s Gen 2 isn't worth $550.

    • Is there an quick reference guide to phone CPUs? I realise it is a complex area and other choices (RAM, battery, etc.) impact performance, but some benchmarks would help.

        • When did the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 really the fastest CPU? Is this being manufactured in China?

          • @mathew42: .

            I think Taiwan.

The chip is used in the x100 pro which I use as my main phone.

          • @mathew42: Those are just peaks but usually MediaTek stuff throttle faster than Qualcomm stuff so extended performance is usually never better. But it's still better value.

@mathew42: Dimensity has been getting better over the last 3 years. Starting from the Dimensity 9000. It has come out one top (Barely) against the highest snapdragon chip of that generation.

            Eg. Dimensity 9000 is like 1 - 3% better than Snapdragon 8 gen 1
            Dimensity 9200 is also like 1 - 3% better than snapdragon 8 gen 2
And now Dimensity 9300 is also like 1 - 5% better than snapdragon 8 gen 3.

Mediatek is made and manufactured by TSMC (taiwan)

China's best chip would be the Kirin 9010 which is the same as the Snapdragon 888+

            • @JolieX: snapdragon for me isn’t the speed, they seem to get updates quicker than mediatek phones , probably the soc manufactures do some of the android development for their soc not the phone manufacturer.

    • At least it's not the LATAM market version, that one comes with a worse screen and a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1.

  • 40 Pro is better and can be purchased cheaper. (In fact, I bought it cheaper almost 2 years ago!)

    • the 50 shipped with android 14 so bit more life for updates vs the 40.

      • Trade off camera, processor and the rest for the updates?.. I'd rather wait for a good price on 50 pro or get Redmi or POCO.

  • Poco F6 has just come out at around the same price as this phone with much newer specs and upgrade over this phone in virtually all aspects

  • nit many upvotes, looks like best to wait for a better deal before replacing my oppo x5 lite with a moto.
