  • Only buy from sparesbox if you aren't in a rush. They do deliver, they do have decent pricing, but they also have terrible customer service(just zero communication basically) and take absolutely forever to ship stuff out. If its a time sensitive service look elsewhere.

    • Sparesbox is just a Repco online business - if they aren't responding, contact GPC headoffice

Shouldn't have to is more the point, I won't give them any more of my business as a result. Just giving others the heads up if they wanted to buy this for next weekend don't bet on it arriving in time.

    • I got mine delivered in 2 days 🤷
It really depends on what you order, I ordered a clutch kit once, took a month.

      • I don't think it depends on the order, cause I have ordered specific parts for vehicles and generic parts for multiple vehicles and I couldn't work out a reason behind it(business I worked for wanted to use them exclusively for some reason, beats me why) so I had a good sample size and it was so sporadic on what would arrive quickly and what would take ages, sometimes oil would take weeks, other times I would have a specific transmission filter kit arrive next day.

I have no issues with the product or anything else, its more just a heads up that if time is of the essence its worth looking elsewhere.

  • is it worth going full synthetic?

I bought this for a Honda Fireblade. Honda specific HP4 (4L) 10w30 is semi synth and I usually use Penrite MC4ST (4L) Semi 10w40 anyway.
You get 5 Litres here instead of 4 with the bike specific oils.
As long as you change at the recommended intervals, full synth not required for street riding and don't use "racing oils" for street cars or bikes.

Apologies for the neg, but this price is for Mineral oil, not Semi-synthetic! They have very similar bottle designs and the cheapest semi-synth 10W-40 from sparesbox is $43~.

I'd use this over a semi or full synth, bro. Modern mineral oils are nothing to sneeze at, they've come a long way. Mineral oil is going to slow/stop your engine seals from leaking over time as well.

The benefits of synthetic oils in modern cars are wasted on <15k servicing. There's a very minimal increase in fuel efficiency due to the W numbers being at 0 or 5W, and that's just the fuel efficiency over the period it takes an engine to get to operating temp.

For me personally, I use 15W40 mineral, in place of 5W30-40 semi/fullsynth and have noticed shht all difference in fuel economy.

    • Looks like next cheapest is actually from Penrite, which works out cheaper per litre. $48~ for 6L.

      • I'm not sure that's suitable for wet clutches on bikes… cars ok

    • Nps Neg away… I received the bottle today, its Semi Synth.

  • @Ngr73 on the bottle, does it have JASO MA in the specs?
Since rebadging to X-PRO, I haven't seen it on screenshots.

This is clearly premium mineral not semi synthetic.

    • You realise Semi Synth is actually mineral based oil with synthetic additives…. all clever marketing

I wish I could upload a pic of the bottle as it states Semi Synthetic instead of Premium Mineral on it.

Thanks for sharing. Checked on Nulon's website and seems to work for my 2003 Camry. Got one.

  • A much better (but bit more expensive) choice is the top-of-the-line synthetic Castrol Edge 5W-40 5 Litre for $54.99 from Amazon
Exceptional oil that can be used with motorbike's wet clutches* but not with modern diesel engines with a DPF
*they didn't apply for the JASO MA label, but it is widely used by hobbyist and amateur racers
