    Great memories of Golden Axe.

    • +1

Those hit sound effects and screams lol - definitely contributed to its charm

    • Got it somewhere with my mega drive 2
      .

  • +2

lol got the physical version of this on psp, ps4, ps3, and switch. digital on pc, if they had it on the ps vita I would have also got it lol.

    • Committed!
Does it play well and can you save and reload anytime?

      • +1

yes you can make saves in slots.

    • Do all co-op games have an online multi-player feature?

  • +2

got this for ps5 a while back for this price. definately worth it for a tenner if you grew up playing on the megadrive =)

worth the price of entry for sonic & streets of rage alone !

    • -4

Just wondering for the tech savvy people on here, can't you get all these plus more with jailbreaking PS5?

      • -1

not sure you can jailbreak the ps5, but I honestly havnt tried or cared. I work in IT for a living, funnily enough at home I like to just turn things on and let them run without playing with them ! (might be like how my wife was a pastry chef but didnt bake much at home.)

        • +1

At least she's not an escort ( for many reasons)
          .

        • +1

You definitely can although you need it to be running older firmware. I've always wanted to just to enjoy Bloodborne at a reasonable framerate :( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6T7N67B5H10

          • -2

@Slurped: Yes I know, that's always the case with Any ps.

I don't know why so many negs, so many 🤡 here. Try to help and get negged. Lesson learnt 👍

            • -2

@Bretttick: Have you considered that maybe it is you who is the clown and not others? You've given out poor information and you claim you don't care but you keep posting ignorant posts. Just wise up and move on.

        • -4

You can do it, if you work in IT this should be no problem and shouldn't take more than 15 mins max.

Revoke your ozb license. You failed bro 🤦

          • -2

@Bretttick: You don't know what you are talking about.

            • -3

@FabMan: Maybe I don't, I DON'T care. I stopped buying PlayStation when the PS4 got released because, PS is Junk. So glad I went xb 🤩

I'm enjoying playing 1000's of retro games right now on my xsx (retroarch). All for the cost of $3 and some time to set it yp 🤑

  • Damn, switch would have been great for the kids.

  • Or setup Retroarch in Xbox dev mode and play all the games, not just some random selection of them.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/767572

    • Why only Xbox you can do it on Apple Devices too now 😎

      • -1

        Finally.

    • 💯 this, plus other consoles. GameCube/N64 has some slight glitches.

    • Seems like a lot of effort?
Guess it good for those who want more retro games.

      • Depends if your tech savvy. If you aren't don't bother, or pay $10 for 10 games.

    • Where can you get the ROMs from?

      • +1

Google romspack (console -i.e NES, Sega Genesis etc.)

It will come up straight away

        • Thanks, wow there is actually a lot !

  • +1

This stuff makes less sense with how easy emulation is now..

    • +2

This is plug and play. And your game saves will be managed for probably 10+ years. But long term, if you are careful, you could DIY and carry your game saves with you until you die. I think though that the DIY way is a lot of fuss for most people. Download a big rom pack and spending hours sorting through it is many people's idea of fun I suppose.

    • +2

I bought this recently solely for the platinum trophy - a fun one at that actually.

    • -1

It's too hard for people to do emulation. Even though there's 1000's of YouTube clips that are very straight forward.

Or there just lazy and rather spend $10 to play very few games

  • +4

Highly recommended for the Streets of Rage series 💥💪 Grand Upper!

Once in a while, I’ll load up Altered Beast just for the intro: WISE FROM YOUR GWAVE! 🐺

    • +1

      Amen

This collection is solely worth it - especially at this price - for Streets of Rage 1 2 3 alone! Everything else in the collection is value bonus.

Streets of Rage 4 has taken the crown for me though.
The DLC nightmare X is an absolute genius addition as well.

      • +3

Agreed - SOR4 is fantastic, but the original trilogy will always hold a special place in my heart. Their soundtracks are some of my all-time favourites, and if you love them too, I highly recommend looking up “Streets of Rage concert” on YouTube.

Me every time I go to punch the very first bad guy in SOR1: 🚔

        • +1

Sor 123 Defo holds special place no doubt for me as well

It’s rare to come across someone who love sor1 soundtrack above sor2!! (Me too - the entire soundtrack actually all bangers)

Yeah haha the A button 🚓🧨 lol

There is actually a trophy for this exact thing as well in this collection

        • -1

Nostalgia, sor4 is great. But you can't beat retro sor games, especially since we grew up with all the memories we had as kids 👍

        • +1

Me every time I go to punch the very first bad guy in SOR1: 🚔

          Same haha!

  • +6

Who else got Altered Beast free with their Megadrive?

    • +2

      POWWA UPP!

The guy muscle transformation was inspiration to hit the gym early on lol

      • This comes with the arcade edition too which is even better

        • Really? I didn’t know this! How is it accessed as I’ve never seen it in there? Some sort of cheat code?

      • +1

        For altered beast fans:

        POWWA UPP!

    • +1

I got Mortal Kombat and Columns from memory. I bought the MD2 with 2 x 6 button controllers.

    • Mine was a bit after the Altered Beast bundle (I had the Master System 2 and was busy saving for a Mega Drive)

I got the one with Sonic 1

  • I still remember asking to get Star Wars with the 32x expansion.

Now that 32x expansion is worth a pretty penny!

    • +2

Even as a Sega kid - 32X was total overpriced sadness (alongside CD)

Glad the folks refused it in favour of the Saturn - even though it had its share of issues but it was had lots of gems such as Fighters Megamix, VF2, Sega Rally, Panzer dragoon 1 2 3, nights, burning rangers and many more

      • I don't recall it being stupidly expensive when we did get it. Folks wouldn't have bought it if it was

        • +1

It wasn’t perhaps but folks thought it was overpriced to get 32x when there is a better ‘long term’ console (Saturn) out at around the same time.

  • Wow I definitely need this! Grew up rinsing all these games on the Megadrive :D

  • Gain Ground and Bonanza Bros. is great coop fun

  • +3

As if not include Sonic 3 and Knuckles! What the heckerooni?

    • IKR….should at the very least be offered as DLC

      • No it should be in this bundle, can't beat retroarch 😉

    • This! Instant buy if they're in there.

    • IIRC there was a music license issue with those games, it's why there's a Sonic Origins collection with altered music released later on.

  • +1

    Landstalker :)

  • Games like shining force and phantasy start were well regarded. You'd think the shining force trilogy could be a good remaster/remake like the FF games get.

  • +1

All the Golden Axes and Alex Kidd make this tempting, but no MK games, Bomberman or Micro machines loses it for me, as that's what I grew up on.

    • -1

but no MK games, Bomberman or Micro machines loses it for me, as that's what I grew up on

You're not going to find the MK trilogy anywhere easily for Xbox unfortunately. They had it on the XBOX Live store for X360 which is where I bought it and still have it, but theres no way for me to transfer that game to my XSX.

However for the price of a couple of coffees, this list of games is great, and is 1/5 of its original price so you really can't go wrong with it.

  • I checked my Turkish PSN account to see if I could get it for cheaper there and turned out it's in fact more expensive than the Aussie store (249.80 TL = AU$11.74). Sony really went hard to close that loophole at the expense of Turkish players.

  • Nice for more casual players, but those wanting accuracy and responsiveness are better off with FPGA hardware emulation devices. They're better options over software such as this for emulating 2D game consoles due to the sound and other emulation inaccuracies coupled with additional input lag.

  • Phantasy Star II was amazing back in the day 30+ years later I suspect it would not hold up.

  • +1

I still have my Sega Genesis with many of these games at home, but I'm buying this just so I can utilise the save feature to finally beat Kid Chameleon.

    • I got my grandparents nes with many games 😎.

I been hoping to score a cheap everdrive for years now. Still no luck 🤦

  • It's a decent line up of games but (at least for the switch version) be warned that input lag is quite annoying with this release. It's something i didn't think about too much in the days of XBLA, but comparing backbone to M2 releases really shows the differences IMO.

  • This is worth it just to play Shining Force
