Remote Control Car in a Can + Bonus 12 Pack of AA Batteries $9.95 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ $99 Order) @ Jaycar

690

Normally this wouldn't be a superb deal, as these tiny cars can be gotten for similar elsewhere.
What makes this a good deal - the Free pack of AA batteries (likely this one - https://www.jaycar.com.au/eclipse-alkaline-aa-batteries-pk-1…? ) which is $9.99 by itself.

So, cheapish stocking filler for the kids, officeplace or loved one,
Plus some mediocre double A's for extra extended pleasure time.

All for the low low price of ten bux via click and collect.

if you need 2, buy in 2 separate order.

    • +2

I guess that gets you two sets of batteries. FWIW I was able to order 2 cars in one order, 1 set of batts though.

    Features:
    • Speed: Up to 4km/h
    • Playtime: Up to 7 minutes
    • Charge time: 5 minutes (from Controller)

Wow up to 7 minutes playtime, better look for a deal on Eneloops as well.

    • +5

If it's the same as one I've previously seen. I'm pretty sure the cars have an inbuilt battery that gets charged when you attach it to the controller. That's what lasts 7 minutes. You can get multiple charges out of the 2xAAs that are in the controller.

Though, take that with a grain of salt, as we got given a second hand one that was missing the antenna, so never actually got to use it…

4km/h!? Is this a car for ants?!

      • +2

        Maybe snails

      • +11

        1:1 equivalent is 232kmph.

        • Thank God that doesn't scale to 88 miles per hour/1.21 gigawatts.

    • +1

The in built battery is very small
      Type
      Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH)
      Voltage
      1.2V
      Capacity
      80mAh

That RC car seems like something that will end in the bin after 1 day.

    • +1

yeah i shouldn't buy, i already spoil my toddlers with enough toys so giving them another one will just see it being lost eventually lol

    • +1

I had one similar. It has rubber o-rings on the wheels but can get dislodged easily. It'll end up going wonky unless you remove the others but then it's slow as.

  • Does it use that many batteries?

  • +5

I still have my Veeam freebie version of this somewhere.

Imagine paying $10 to have a get into the car, drive a shop to pickup trash that you now need to store somewhere in your house (or bin).

      • sounds like every single kids toy out there

Don't let these self-serving rags guilt you from the occasional feel good purchase, especially if they are a good deal/value.

They try to trick you into thinking your $2000 a year is the reason why you can no longer expect to achieve life's basic aspirations and not focus on the nation's broken financial and political systems that have destroyed the social compact for current and future generations.

      • so did you buy?

  • Are they going to honour this or going to be like the raspberry pis?

A somewhat similar novelty RC car, more like a Choro-Q, comes in the form of the "soccer ball" style.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nz3pI9JUob4

That's my exact model. I used a little drink straw for the antenna. Cat used to love this thing!

EDIT poor guy got a dud that doesn't steer. The mechanism is a delicate one, and a potential easy fix though.

    • man choro-q's were soo good

      • WERE?!
I know, they're quite exxy now.
