  • I'm hoping someone much more cluey than I could possibly tell me if adding these two modules to my current 16gb would cause any issues?

Above is what I'm currently running 2 slots of.

    • What mobo+cpu combo do you have?
If you post a pcpp list, we can advise better.

      • Running a B450M Mortar Max with a Ryzen 7 3700X

        Thanks :)

    • Hard to tell because your current DDR4-3200 RAM modules are rated at 1.2V (and that's why they have more conservative timings 22-22-22-52). These ones are 1.35V so you need your motherboard to be smart on XMP and realise it has to operate on 1.35V. It is also unclear the memory timings the motherboard will use if you set to XMP. If you go manual timings, you will have to run some tests.

I "think" PCCG has good after sale service, but I have never used their after sales service so far (touch wood).

I have a B450M Mortar (non max model, so it is inferior). The non-max one's XMP support is not that great to be honest. I have a set of Micron E die RAM modules (DDR4-3600) and when I changed modules to another set and back, it did incorrectly detected the Micron DDR4-3600 ones initially (and attempted 1.2V, despite the XMP is set to 1.35V). I don't have such problem with an el cheapo B550 board.

Provide a screenshot of memory tab if possible. That screenshot you provided shows only the rated timings.

      • One thing I've previously noticed in my BIOS is when trying to tinker with XMP the only setting I could really come across was a button saying ENABLE A-XMP however it says NON SUPPORTED. I assume that's with my particular RAM, but I never could fully figure it out.

Here's the Memory Tab, it seems like it might just be safer to grab 2 more of the same stick I have considering I'm not really too up to speed on adjusting all of these settings in BIOS

        • Okay, so you are just using rated setting with 1.2V. Yeah, it makes sense about lack of proper XMP support because those 1.2V ones are the older batches of RAM. Even my Micron DDR4-3600's XMP coding is iffy on AMD AM4.

Your RAM kit has low power usage, but if you want fast timings, you need to go for 1.35V kits. I don't recommend you get another set of them… but if you must:

          Crucial 8GB (1x8GB) CT8G4DFS832A 3200MHz DDR4 RAM - $29.00 per module

Or, are you brave enough to try your RAM modules at 16-20-20-38-58 1.35V?

What would the worst case scenario be here? Needing completely new RAM across the board? haha
