  • tempting…… but given that Amazon US have been putting up some good Blu box specials… one could only hope that Star Wars is next :)

    • Yeah I'm also tempted, but not sure if the extras DVDs will play on my Samsung blu-ray player.
I bought the Star Wars box set from Dick Smith for $69.95 when it was on sale in August.

So there's still some hope for local sellers.

    • maybe its just me, but i would hold out for a price decrease know that the star wars set is going to be future obsolete as a complete set

  • Great price, small note that the many may already know.
The special features are on DVDs so not high def and virtually if not completely identical to the DVD version.

    • Yeah they are the same as the Extended Edition dvds, except that it includes 3 extra discs - one for each movie with Costa Botes' documentaries. These documentaries were previously only available on the Limited Edition dvds (the 3rd dvd release, which contained both the theatrical and extended cuts), and add about another 5 hours all up.

  • Ordered! I know there will probably be an ultimate lotr/hobbit set in the future but i just couldn't resist at this price. Hopefully i'll be able to hold myself back from buying the hobbit movies individually :S

    Thanks OP!

    • Their is talk they will re-release these as 3D movies .. though when that will be is anyone's guess (back into cinemas after the hobbits have finished maybe?)

  • Gave in… ordered!

  • Good price! Only just placed an order for the Dark Knight Rises trilogy a few days ago, just cancelled that one and re-ordered it plus this boxset to save on postage.

    • The US Dark Knight trilogy blu ray set is region A/1 according to Amazon… can anyone confirm this?

      • Wouldn't take any notice of amazon. They always say everything is region A/1.

        • Yeah. Warner Bros has never used region coding on their Blu-rays before, and I can't see them start doing so for TDKR (the other two movies are already confirmed to be region free from the usual places, so even more unlikely that WB would press region coded discs just for this trilogy boxset).

  • arrgh! i paid $95 for the non-extended blu ray trilogy 2 years ago at JB!

  • Damn, missed it :-(
That price drop, according to CCC, was insane!
Sigh, looks like I'll be putting up with my bog-standard Theatrical DVD's for a little while longer.
