My DSL runs @ ~17Mb/s so yes, faster that your advertised write speed. :)

the answer should of been the amount of slaps to give jv to win 50$

    • +1

assuming 2 slaps per second, how long are we slapping for in years?

      • 8716.321250126839 years not allowing for leap years.

        • That is pretty good! but last time I checked our years were not divided in a decimal fashion, I am looking for years, days, hours and seconds.

        • how long are we slapping for in years

You asked for years, I answered in years. Now you want years, days, hours and seconds. You'd make an excellent politician.

          3,181,457.26 days
          76,354,974.15 hours
          274,877,906,944 seconds
274,877,906,944 Seconds = 8710.534114448063 years (this time, allowing for leap years - this is the year as defined by the Gregorian calendar which is 365.2425 days).

8710 years, 194 days, 22 hrs, 50 mins, 33 secs (including leap years)

        • Sorry I was not clear, I meant if someone asks you how many hours or days something will take you don't usually answer 2.35 days. The convention would usually be to answer 2 days, 8 hours and 24 minutes. Obviously it is context dependent though and there was no context here.

But the format of the answer would need to be x years, y days, z hours and so on. And really the only reason why I asked for it in that way is that it is much much easier to just say 2.589 years.

          Hopefully that makes more sense.

        • I think I've had enough of this.

        • I am actually pretty surprised you persisted ;)

          Name your prize sir!

And aren't you glad I didn't ask for it in the format

millennia, centuries, decades, years, weeks, days, hours, minutes, seconds, milliseconds, microseconds, nanoseconds and picoseconds.

Also thanks for taking the time to edit our posts, much appreciated!

        • Actual answer (average Gregorian year) may be in fact be 8710 years, 195 days 1 hr, 57 mins and 4 secs.

This is doing my head in. I've REALLY had enough of it now, the result varies on what you start with and what you convert it to (365 day year, julian year, gregorian average year). ENOUGH.

Re edits - usually nothing major, just bits and bobs to help clarify. I noticed some time after the prize was won yesterday that another person attempted an answer so I added the "ended / winner" bit. Then another, so I bolded it. I think perhaps more may have attempted to answer since but you've gotta draw the line somewhere.

I actually did think about adding the 2.0 into the title yesterday, but as the answer was no more than a click away, I thought surely no one would whinge about that. How wrong was I…

As for naming my prize, I honestly don't care, did it more for the challenge than anything else. You threw the gauntlet down but no one responded so I thought I'd give it a look.

        • Haha, it is amazing how complicated a simple question can get when you really delve into it!

Leave it with me I am sure I will be able to come up with something for you.

        • +4

Do not forget that Earth's daily rotation is slowing down due to tidal friction, and in over 8700 years there will be many leap seconds added to account for this. Since the rate of deceleration is non-uniform, the actual number of additional leap seconds cannot be calculated in advance, and we have to rely on astronomical observation to determine when to add a second.

The time taken also depends on where you want to slap jv. If you want to do it in orbit, then special (relative speed) and general (relative acceleration due to gravity) relativities time dilution effects may also need to be considered, like on the GPS satellites.

        • +1

I've been out for a few hours and got to thinking while stuck is some traffic, you wouldn't slap 24/7, probably more like 4 - 8hrs a day unless there were shifts of slappers (which I'm sure in some feral suburbs, there already are!)

Perhaps a machine could be built to do the slapping, should even be able to ramp it up to more than 2 per second to cut down the overall time taken. If it were rotary and had two wheels - one for each side of the face - and each wheel had 6 "hands" on it, the time could be significantly reduced. Of course, we'd then also have to factor in breakdowns and maintenance as well.

        • HAHA, I love that you are still haunted by this!

I actually thought about it as well. Because surely there will be hand recovery time at some point. Plus lets not forget after a few hundred thousand slaps there wouldn't be much left to slap…

    • We are working on more deals at the moment. Unfortunately we can't really dictate the price we just have to work with the suppliers to find the sweet spot. 64gb USB 3 is not quite there yet.

Last time I bought a Logitech keyboard from you guys, it took a MONTH to get here, despite my constant nagging via email. This was the same as my colleague who bought an identical product. All I got was excuse after excuse to say "We missed the courier" or "The courier misplaced it" or "They forgot to deliver it" etc.

I will be voting negative for you guys for a lack of customer service (took 2 business days to respond to an email), super slow delivery times (even though its in Australia, delivering to Sydney) and lies to customers.

    • Cut them a bit of slack mate! they're only a small operation and they're busy posting competitions on here, maybe you could try win a few of them while you're waiting for a reply..

      • I would have thought a guy with the username p*nis pump backwards would have appreciated a bit of fun more ;)

        • Nah all good I just have my hand on it :)

    • +5

Unfortunately at that time as we said over email we were setting up a new warehouse and we were having major issues with our couriers. We have since switched almost all our shipping to another carrier due to these problems.

Obviously that is not your problem at all it is ours, and the service you received was definitely not acceptable. We did send you out a free item to make up for the hassle with your order. But I just read through the email thread and checked your order history and at no point did we tell you anything other than truth. Your order had been marked as shipped when it had not been, you emailed us we chased it up changed the address and the courier picked it up and delivered it within a few days.

We are not going to pretend like it wasn't a mess, and it was our fault that your order was delayed in the first place, but we did make an effort to rectify the poor service with a freebie.

As for your colleague who bought the same product, there was only one other person who had an issue with this item and it was simply lost by the courier, we replaced it and sent the new order out as well as providing a credit to his account. Last we heard he was very happy with the service.

      • +1

Sorry.. I never received any free item as you had stated. As much as I can understand your warehouse move, it was never conveyed to me as being the issue: only the misplaced order and courier service etc. Either way, my colleague and I both waited a substantial amount of time for the order as such and as you say, was not really acceptable given Australian delivery is concerned.

Hope you have resolved your internal issues so that it does not affect other customers here.

I do appreciate and thank your acceptance of this issue however.

        • +2

Hmm, we sent out a free USB 3 drive to the same address addressed to you. It was only sent in a letter and did not require a signature so maybe it was misplaced at your office?

We will send another one out on Monday registered so that we make sure it gets to you. But if you would prefer we can give you a credit to your account as we did for your colleague.

Again apologies for the poor service.

    • despite my constant nagging via email

Could be why they took so long to deliver it. It doesn't hurt to be patient.

      • +1

Sure, but honestly he really wasn't constantly nagging us, he only sent a few emails chasing up the order it was pretty reasonable. We just screwed up his order basically…

  • Has the deal been extended or has someone not marked this as expired? (just wondering, not purchasing)

    • We have like 5 left, so we just left it up. Will update the post.

  • +1

+ve vote, i like an honest rep that tries to rectify his/ there mistakes.

    • We would prefer to avoid issues like the one above happening in the first place obviously, but we are realistic enough to realize that mistakes will happen. The most important thing is how they are dealt with, unfortunately we probably could have dealt with that particular issue better, especially in regards to communication.

We always will offer some sort of compensation though if we have made a mistake. Because we understand that a customer having to chase up an order or fix an issue takes time and effort which is not free.

  • ditto

  • +2

Love a rep who responds to complaints publicly and fronts up to mistakes made.

Flingshot you should marry francesca(from memorycity) ;-)

flingshot is getting all the love recently!!! keep up the good work! I've only ever bought the $3 USB from you guys, but will definitely remember to check your site for any future tech buys :)

    • +2

You must have missed the guy that called me a douche above ;)

Please keep in mind just because it is not on the site doesn't mean we can't get it, feel free to email us asking about any product. Usually you will find that we will do a much better price first time just to get the product on the site and test shipping costs etc.

That said we will soon be adding a lot more to the site as we have a new cms which is much much faster.

      • Yeah but there were 6 people who negged him! (now 7)

I'm actually in the market for a PC monitor so I'll do some research and shoot you an email about it later on :D

        • +1

True he did get negged to oblivion. To be fair to him though if this was the first post of ours he read I might have come across as a little dismissive.

  • Hi rep, thanks for the fantastic deals on various memory storage devices, but there's quite a few photographers still using CF cards, Flingshot couldn't do something special for those also?

    • We can look into it for sure. Presumably you are looking for large high speed cf cards?

  • Btw, when will you have more of the Kindle Paperwhite wifi in stock? Thanks.

    • Not until after Christmas unfortunately.

  • MSY is cheaper - $32.

    • can you please provide the link..i tried but couldn't find out..

  • It's still going - I just bought one.

  • I also bought around an hour ago but with coupon code "touro" for free shipping. After payment when I returned to product page it was showing sold out.
