Replace Eero ISP Firmware with Standard Stock Firmware

Hi all, I purchased Eero 6+ as part of the Superloop promo.

What I didn't realise is, it's a "ISP Branded" Eero, which means I cannot have Eero Plus, I only can get "Eero Secure" => Which basically not allowing me to have the ad-blocking, content filters, etc

I checked my account and it stated: "Your account is not eligible for eero Plus"

The question I have is, has anyone here managed to remove the "ISP firmware" from Eero? so that you can get the full potential of the device

Thanks

PS: Yes, I can setup pihole for such things, but I thought if I already have this, might as well use it…

You don't need to use pihole, you can also use PrivateDNS services like nextDNS. Easier to use and only downside is if you don't trust nextDNS either.

    • Pi-hole + Unbound *chef's kiss*

  • Hey mate, did you end up finding a solution for this? Recently got a Pro 7 and didn't realise it was branded and the Eero Plus subscription managed by Leaptel.

    • No, I didn't.
I moved on from my ISP and now it became a basic wireless router without any subscription.
But I've been using the 'kids' profile to schedule the internet on and off.

Which is very lame, but I am planning to piggy back it with adguardhome (which I setup inside docker) to filter out 'nasty' stuff for the kids…. one day… one day…

Honestly, I'm not impressed by this experience

      • I reached out to Leaptel after I posted that message and they've gone ahead and decoupled the router from my account, meaning:

        • There is no branding in the eero app or any association to Leaptel
        • I can now self-manage my own Eero Plus subscription

Very quick action on behalf of Leaptel and Eero and it was very straightforward - I'm happy!

        • Oh, that’s nice! Are you still with them when you asked them to remove the branding?

          • @BigLeviathan: Yep still with them - they didn't push back at all.

Was very straightforward. Contacted them via chat and told them what I wanted to happen. They needed to reach out to amazon to get it done and gave me a window of a couple of days. The next day it was sorted.

@Frashed: Interesting…. I haven’t been noticing much, apparently my eero is no longer have the ISP branding and I can now subscribe to eero plus.

I guess superloop “removed it” once I’m no longer with them…
