stay away from no brand tablets that doesn't have substantial community software support. it's not really saving $100 if it gives you endless grief. i'd say get an ainol (ha)/cube but you need it now so local stock wise best spend a little extra and get a nexus 7 or samsung tab 2 which is selling for 200-220 at jb. and since it's a gift, nothing like a frustrated 7yo complaining to mummy/daddy about the shit tablet that won't let them play games properly to make you regret not getting something better ;)

  • so samsung tab 2 is the cheapest tablet worth getting locally in sydney? i'll give thread a little longer b4 i head out and buy it if nothing else comes up, thanks 4 the info xbai

You could also try local resellers on eBay (as well as TopBuy, Shopping Square) who sell Ainol branded tablets.

Ainol is a decent (read: better than most chinese-no-names, but still inferior to branded) choice but buying locally gets you local warranty.

Topbuy is selling the Ainol Crystal for $124 + $9.60 shipping

      • "mum! look! uncle tommy gave me an ainol! :D:D"

  • I just checked out Choice, which recently did a review on tablets. Looks like for the price the Samsung is the best recommendation.

  • I think the Samsung or Nexus is the right choice too, but I did see this on Dick Smith's site.

Much poorer specs, but the design might be worth it?

  • I have stock of Sanei N10 ($99), Ainol Crystal($139), Onda v712 ($165), in Sydney, tested and ready to go

I will deliver it to you personally this afternoon or tomorrow morning first thing for cash.
