not much of a 'secret', and likely to be not much of a 'sale' either ;)

    • +3

      Clothing is typically decent

      • Go to a charity shop dude.

        • +5

Because charity shops are so reliable when it comes to getting the style, cut and size you want.

        • +1

Sorry, get overpriced items from miserable staff members then.

The thing about charity shops (aside from the good deed aspect) is you can find some really rare and awesome stuff you either wouldn't find in a shop or wouldn't even think of looking for.

I'll take my grey made-to-measure Pierre Cardin suit jacket for 4.99, ta.

        • +4

I think both retail and charity shop clothing is ok. There's a fun thrill in finding a nice vintage piece in your local Salvos, but I don't want all of my clothing having that musty smoke scent.

        • +3

          Nice try hipster.

        • theres just somethign wrong with wearing someone elses clothes though…

  • +3

hope they have discounts on Politix Suit and Leather Jackets Instote

    • +1

Yeah the normal prices on Politix leather jackets is extravagant.

    • have u checked out politix @ DFO? i went there before and remember the price for normal clothes were quite decent. what's the thing about politix any way? young fella are crazy about it.

      • +1

        nothing
        overpriced

  • +3

Missed out on the 30% sale last week.

Which was for the best I see.

    • +2

      This one seems better :D

    • +1

You win some, you lose some. And sometimes you lose and then win even more.

  • -8

Oh yeah I love to do my yearly casual clothes shopping whilst being stampeded by 9001 mums.

    • +7

      whats wrong wit u ?

    • +7

Are you implying people actually get excited for the Myer sale that happens every second week?

      • +9

Hardly, this is Xmas time and not everyone likes to purchase clothes online. I really don't see the harm in sharing promotions that may benefit someone else

    • +1

Then you pay full price when the store's empty?

  • +2

Hmm could he a good chance to go and get the Roomba 780 for Mum's Christmas present with the 20% off. That's if they even have it in stock.

    • +2

See what price they will give - I got one 3 weeks ago at HN Garden City Brisbane for $649 with 5 year warranty.

      FYI - he was peeved.

      • +1

Oh really? Seems like a good price! Did you just bargain hard or have another stores price up your sleeve? If I can get it for that price I'll be happy, it seems like a good step up from the 530 which is advertised at about $499. Was going to try and get it from GG as a friend works there and could have gotten me a good price, but if spending this much on one may as well do it properly!

        • +2

We searched and found some forums on whirlpool.net & a company in tassie that were doing it for $600ish - he semi pushed us into the warranty - but it was worth it - 5 year replacement no questions asked…..

And the 780 ROCKS - we have two cats, one slightly fury and it powers through the fuzz.

        • +2

Cheers, pm'd a guy on there who got it for $648, so will see how I go. Mum's got 3 cats and expensive carpet in the lounge room so that's what she mostly wants one for!

        • Well ended up going to HN today and got it for $600 (didn't bother with the extended warranty as they wanted to try it for full price ($189!!!!) because they had to change it in their system from $1199 to the $600, advertised as $799). I get an extra year warranty with my CC anyway, so yeah, just said I'd seen someone get it from another HN, she went to check with her boss and it was all good :)

  • +2

These "sales" are starting to become the norm.

  • +1

These 'sales' are a waste of time and just look at the clothing brands, nearly all are Myer's house brand which they can make a good profit on but the designs and quality are quite poor.

  • +7

30% off Australian RRP - for example Ben Sherman new model T-shirt is $99.95, take 30% off = $70, they are still much cheaper at ASOS

    • +2

I for one will never buy clothes online. I find huge discrepancy in sizes amongst brands. I.e Ben Sherman sizes are insanely small

      • +17

ur doin it wrong. Try them on in the shop, then find and order them online :-)

        • +6

Yes cause I like to spend a day shopping for clothes, then returning home and searching for it online to find out that shipping costs make it more expensive or they don't carry my size only to return the next day to find out the sale has ended

        • +5

          Maybe you're too big?

        • +6

You're doing it wrong. You try clothes on before the sale. Then you do your research and you're ready when a sale does come along, and you'll know whether it's even worth the bother to attend. After all, who really wants to try clothes on during a sale?

        • +1

spending too mush $$$ @ Vitacost on the Protein and Preworkouts :p ??

        • +1

I'm 6'4, I think Ben Sherman is made for the "petite" man :)

        • +1

well just like an online store that may not have your size, a physical store will have the same issue. you try before the sale, and by the time it does go on sale, you go back to store and find they have ran out of your size.

      • +1

I never have issues with shopping online when it comes to clothing or footwear, I believe you need to look up the measurements for each clothing stole online first and then pick what your size it online.

        • +3

…the problem is that those charts are often unreliable, or do not provide sufficient information. Measurements may vary from product to product. One person's "skinny" is another's "slim." There are similar issues with shoes except there is an accepted scale which shoe companies then vary from so that one company's size 10 is another's 10.5.

Some brands and online stores are great with providing measurements but many are not.

  • +4

40% off handbags = nice, buy with the gift cards from saturdays sale = SWEET ;-)

  • +1

so is this good or no? how about books?

    • +2

It's been a long time since Myer did 40% off books. They may or may not be cheaper than what you'd find on booko. I used to get my orange Penguin classics from there when there was a sale because they were pretty much only being sold in Australia and at rrp.

  • Great, just in time for my dad's funeral.

    • +6

Yep he'd look good in BAUHAUS at 40% off

  • +2

Would this be considered a "small electrical kitchen appliance"?

Anyone know how much Lattissma Plus is going for at Myers at the moment?

  • +1

Florshiem has a 40% off them-self at the moment, Myer do a 30% off…(10% probably for store display lol)

  • +1

bitterly disappointed that 40% off not applicable to Leona by Leona Edmiston. last time I saw that discount was 6 months ago. and been waiting for it to be offered again! sign

  • +1

About the middle of last year, David Jones had 2 days during the week where ALL men's clothing was 50% off. No exceptions. I wish they had more of these sales.

  • I was wondering whether Myer does Weber accessories and whether these will be on sale as well. I am after a digital thermoter.

    • If they do let me know. Recently got the 320Q and love it - but the food cooks sooo quickly ! (and tastes mmmm)

  • Just to be sure, this is not an online sale right?

    • Nah pretty sure it is in store only

      • If Myer wants to promote the online side of its business, it would be stupid not to have these discounts apply to the products on the website. What is Bernie Brooks thinking?

  • Fancy a DSLR 15% off @Myer today? in a perfect world:
Canon 5D MarkIII + 24-105 pack is $4800 from Teds (rrp I believe)
Myer knock 15% off (given in stock. T&C, no customer orders) = $4080
paid with Myer card (if you crazy enough to stock this much) = $3709
going overseas minus GST = $3338
    Canon $300 cashback = $3038

knocking ~$1800 off, hehe, if only the world is perfect.

    • Haha nice. Isn't the overseas GST thing capped at $1k?

      • +1

$1k is the limit where exceeding it would require passengers' name, address, and phone number on the invoice for it to be eligible to TRS claim.

Obviously bringing it back is that you treat it as personal old/used.
