    Not so hot price.

Penta has it for $505 pickup, $522 delivered.
Harvey Norman has it for $547

      Hi Neil,
I did trawl around to make sure we were cheapest and I didn't come across Penta. Happy to beat their price though.
      Thanks
      Tom

      • Hi Tom
        welcome to ozbargain
can I suggest you change the post to reflect the new price.
then you have grounds to get all the negs wiped clear…

        • Hi Dr Rusko,
I wasn't sure if that was acceptable for Ozbargain Deals but if it is I will definitely change the post.
          Thanks for the tip,
          Tom

        • Negative votes removed due to resolution of issue that caused them.

  • Also, Kogan has the Nikon D3200 DSLR Camera 18-55mm VR Lens Kit for $509 (Not inc del).

    http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/nikon-d3200-dslr-camera-18-55mm-…

Ok it doesn't have local warranty but so far so good for me!

    • I guess it depends on how highly you value warranties though.

    • I thought Kogan was an aussie company?

      • Aussie company yes. But their camera gear is grey import stock. Nikon are pretty tough about their warranties and won't deal with you if it's a grey import.

  • if you buy from HN, you'll get receipt with GST which can be claimed back if flying out of country, so some of us can get another $50 back which will bring down price to around $475..

      Hi,
You get that from any Australian registered business. We can provide that for you.
      Thanks
      Tom

  • Not a deal.

Grey imports still offer better deals:

    D5100 + 18-55 VR Lens

    $499 Inc. shipping.

Can you please elaborate more on; Additional extra year available after registration at MyNikonLife.com.au

Does this mean you automatically get an extra year's warranty after registering, or you can buy the additional warranty?

I know, it’s DWI, but I’ve purchased ~20K worth of camera/tablet gear from them, over the past couple of years without an issue. I’d never buy a phone from them though. You can roughly the same price from other importers selling the D5100.

A number of other friends, and family members have also bought, and experienced no issues.

Nvm, -re 2Yr warranty. I looked it up. Seems like you get the 2yr warranty after registration.

    • I think the community have made it very clear that it is unreasonable to vote negative based on a comparison to a grey import…. it is not the exact same product you are comparing.

(I hear your point loud and clear that from your perspective they are the same - but not ALL of us feel this way)

  • Realy

I doubt if you would greet customers into your shop with something like this…

This is our first time so be nice :)

Sorry Ozpete. Just trying to have some fun.

    • That's a bit rude OzPete - bargs community can be pretty full on sometimes!

      • I wasnt trying to be rude. Just pointing out in a simple way, that this isnt the best way to start a relationship, especially as a vendor.

Putting off the target market, with a comment that in the past has invoked some pretty harsh reactions by some Ozbargainers, who we know can be a wolf pack at times.

While they were maybe trying to have fun, its at their own expense.

        • pete - even the best of us can make that mistake…
          http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/38064

though it is stated pretty clearly in the posting guidelines not to say things like that..

        • Awww, I am always nice to people who open a new shop(motar and bricks).

        • Whats 'motar'? and why are you then on the WWW and ozbargain. Why don't you instead just buy through 'good ol' fashioned' print. One thing is to claim to be nice, the other to actually/physically open your wallet/purse and always buy on that principle to keep the mortar and bricks open.

… sorry!, just could not help my self!.

on-topic, good o you for trying eGroup REP, I will e-mail you re: a query I have.

        • motar is like mortar but less spelling:P

I was responding to the above comment about giving some leeway to first timers, I am polite to new shop owners whether online or bricks and mortar. Anyways pls ignore, was not a serious comment.

  • +4

Not sure why all the negatives, the REP clearly says in his first post - "Hi Neil,
I did trawl around to make sure we were cheapest and I didn't come across Penta. #Happy to beat their price though." So I'm sure if you list a price cheaper they will, at the least attempt to beat it :)

    • I think the rep should clarify - has the price been formally changed or does one have to request it…
(the post should reflect this response)

I agree with you - it's a shame their are so many negs - rep has posted a deal, responded to comments and beaten a competitor… clearly trying to make a good 1st impression

  • Can you beat jb hi find catalogue special of the 497?
