  • I'm a paid member but never get emails about these sales. Do I just need to visit daily to check for new offers?

    • Do you have an Australian account or a US account?

I have a US account (because the selection of books is better). I also have available credits. Either of those might be the reason I get the emails and you don't. Although I miss out on the discount credit offers, because I have unspent credits.

      • I'm an Aussie right now as I'm in the my initial 3 months and they bill my credit card monthly. I also have US details on file for when I want a book I can't buy here.

Once I get out of my 3 months, I'll switch to annual membership and then leave my billing details as US.

Incidentally (as I have a credit), I can use the offer, I just wasn't told about it.

        • Maybe check in your "Account Details" -> "Preferences" -> "Edit contact preferences" to see if you see "You have chosen to receive emails from Audible:(your email address)"

Then maybe check your spam filter. Other than that, I can't think of a reason.

BTW I get the 24 credits at a time pack. Works out the cheapest per credit.

        • I get other marketing emails from Audible (all the time!). I'll see what happens when I switch back to US.

I'm seriously leaning to switching to a 24 credit annual account. Just one more credit to go on my 3 months / half price membership.

          Thanks for your help.

        • Have you tried to cancel early?

When I cancelled my original subscription (the "twit2" one mentioned above) after the first month, they offered me a 3 month (1 credit/month) subscription at half price.

Then when I cancelled again at the end of that, they offered me a membership (no credits) for a year for free (so that I'd be eligible for all the member-only sales). That's when I got the 24 credit pack.

        • No I Haven't.

I'm getting 3 months at half price. $7.49 per credit seems like a bargain.

        • +1

That sounds like the 3-month half price deal they offered me. Stick with it until you get your last half-price credit, then cancel the monthly subscription and get the 24-credit yearly pack (or 12 if you prefer).

The 24 pack works out ~$9.50 per credit. I usually wait for a sale before using my credits (like today's sale).

Overall, it's pretty good value when you can get an audiobook for less than the cost of a paperback locally.

    • From what I understand, a monthly member gets these offers while members via prepaid credit don't.

I just got another $10 credit for getting 4 books (2 credits) from this sale. That, and the $10 credit I got from the last $4.95/book sale means I've averaged ~$2.50 per audiobook.

  • I just changed my account from an Australian one to an USA one. Wow, what a deference! The number of books in this promo almost doubled!

    Well worth doing.

    • Yep, I swapped within a day of opening my account. Couldn't get 3/4 of the stuff I wanted with the Australian listings.

  • Did you guys connect your Audible account with an Amazon one? I have switched to a US address some time back and was able to see some books that I put on my wish list. Now some of those titles are showing up as restricted so I'm thinking I've been put back on Aus. region even though my address for both Amazon and Audible are set up as US. The Amazon one was newly created (a few months ago now) to link with this Audible account. I am also not using any VPN to change my IP.

    • Did you guys connect your Audible account with an Amazon one?

I did, but after I'd already made the change to a US address. However my Amazon account also has a US billing address (so I can purchase downloadable games).

I believe you need need to change your billing address (under credit card details) for Audible to put you in a different country. You should be able to swap back and forth in minutes. And I sure it has no effect on your library as I bought my first 3 books as an Australian, the swapped to the US.

I am also not using any VPN to change my IP.

No need to use VPN. Audible use your billing address to work out what region you are in.

      • With Amazon (for Kindle etc), they require a US SHIPPING address.

My experience with Audible is that they require a US BILLING address.

I have 2 credit cards on file with Audible. One has a US address and the other an AU one. I just switch between them to change stores.

        • Off topic: Is there a easy way for an Australian resident to get a US credit card?

Most of the paid steaming services require a US card, and I haven't found a cost effective way of getting one.

        • No idea sorry. Could you perhaps get one of those reloadable ones from a US source?

This question might be better off in the forums.

      • My library was not affected, it was my wishlist that was. I created the Amazon account after I've already been using the Audible account with a US billing address. My Amazon account also has a US billing address. Will have to figure it out one of these days.
