not strictly a notebook!E-450=netbook cpu, fine for light pc usage, just don't expect performance of proper laptop cpu and you might like it

Basically its a netbook w/ larger screen, but also bigger form factor & heavier. Justify sacrificing portability to gain screen resolution? Depends on your needs.

    • Definately netbook territory with non upgradeable RAM. For comparison I recently bought an Asus P950 2.1Ghz, 2Gb, 500Gb HDD, 15" display laptop with Windows 7 at JB Hifi for $341.

    • This would be able to play some light games — DOTA, SC2, Torchlight 2 for instance.

An Intel Celeron lappie would do a lot worse.

      • GPU wise the Intel would be pretty close in raw performance with a modern Sandy based Celeron. Driver wise the AMD GPU should be better though giving a more reliable experience. In terms of compute performance the Intel would blow the AMD out of the water.

great notebook for kids. They can't play the latest games but. An i3 would probably have similar battery life but much more powerful, however this is much cheaper than an i3 notebook.

  • Think of it as a HP Pavilion dm1 (4108AU) with bigger display. I own the 4108 AU. It wasn't running smoothly till I upgraded it to 4GB ram.

    • But this one at least has usb 3.0, better than HP.

      • but HP has 11.6" (and people are willing to pay extra money for it) and the HDD can be swapped for a SSD for faster process. Also bluetooth, beats audio and expansional ram slot are lacking in the Asus.

  • throw in ssd+ram… will this be ok? compared to a straight up $400 lagwagon.

The RAM is not upgradeable - it's fixed to the mainboard with no additional slots.
