The title says it all :)) Picked up some from BWS Innaloo, later on went to Dan Murphy's Balga, asked for price match but it scanned at $49.90. Stocked up now :)

  • Are these imported?

OP can check the barcode on the packaging. if it starts with 93 then it's locally brewed.

  • would it be the same in other states?

    • No idea, sorry

Mate, you are awesome. I just finished off the 9 slabs that I bought last time they were on sale. Time to stock up again!

They are 440 mL cans, making it $4.73 per litre - at this price, it's cheaper than Carlton Draught per litre!

However, I still can't find it on the Dan Murphy website. I did email them back in June because I couldn't find it then and the response was (as quoted):

    "Good morning,

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback on this item.

Currently we cannot display Guinness Draught 440mL cans on the Dan Murphy’s website due to a system limitation regarding different carton sizes being available in different states across the country.

Rest assured, Guinness is available in our stores and our Contact Centre is happy to field calls regarding availability and price for your local store or to organise delivery if that is preferable."

I didn't understand it then, and I don't now. Different carton sizes? They changed from a 4 pack to a 6 pack many months ago, but all the old stock would have cleared by now. Eh, Dans are on the way home (and the right side of the road too :) Easy to drop in and find out for myself.

I'm surprised that they brew locally too - I always assumed it was fully imported.

Aside from the barcode, will the can printing show where they're brewed?

    • they are not on a web for some reason. Actually, they don't even have a price tag at DM; the sign says 'This item in temporarily unavailable, we apologise… etc' But I took beer to the counter and they sold it to me.

      Enjoy :)

And they do brew it locally, AFAIK - remember years ago they change the recipe here to bring down the alcohol % and therefore decrease the tax that we had to pay ?

  • I bloody love Guinness and this price is incredible, but I just can't hack the calories in a can/pint of this stuff anymore while I'm keeping off the weight I lost this year. :(

Need a Guinness 'blonde' variant! :p

    • It's not any heavier than any other non low-carb beer, in fact, it's lower in calories than many popular 'regular' brews.

10g carbs per 440 mL can.

      Not too bad.

  • mmm please be for other states

any confirmation this is for vic as well??

    • Not at Dans in Vic bugman. I got all gushy earlier and went to Dan Murphys Oakleigh South, they were normal price at 69.99. I just rang BWS (Boundary Hotel Bentleigh East) and no go :(

      • No go in NSW either. :(

        • Sorry to hear that

  • $69.90 price on the shelf. Couldnt find the BWS ad to pricematch, but scanned at $49.90 as you said. Brilliant !!!

    • Where's that imp?
