Another great deal on a great lens. Not ATL but close enough considering stagflation.

Amazon AU is probably price matching Teds. (Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months.) Teds also has other Canon RF lenses at 10% off.

Introducing a super-telephoto lens to the Canon RF lens lineup, the Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 L IS USM lens is great for sports and wildlife shooting with your Canon EOS R Mirrorless camera. Despite its telephoto focal length, this lens is relatively compact, so you can enjoy successful handheld shooting. This suitability to being used without a tripod is maintained through the inclusion of Image Stabilisation and the announcement of the new Canon EOS R5 and R6 mirrorless cameras, and their included 5-axis in-body image stabilisation. Also of benefit to Sports and Wildlife users which will be using this lens proudly, is the fast and accurate Dual Nano USM AF system.

Included in the optical design of this super-telephoto zoom lens is one Super UD and six UD lens elements, which results in sharp and detailed images throughout the expansive zoom range. The lens is also designed well in physical terms, with dust and moisture-resistance as well as a fluorine coating which protects its front element from damage and makes it easier to clean smudges and fingerprints. To maintain a great user experience, the Canon RF 100-500mm lens features a configurable control ring which you can use do adjust your important shooting settings, such as aperture, ISO and exposure compensation.

Great price for a great lens.

  • Thinking to get a 2nd hand EF 100-400 II USM with $2,000 range instead…
Can some experts give me some advices?
    Thanks in advance.

    Background:
R5 with EF adaptor, also having EF 2x extender iii <- which is why i tends to the EF one for now.

That's exactly what I would do.

I had a mix of RF and EF lenses but went back to all EF because it's a pain keeping track of the adaptor, and I'm definitely not going to buy one for each lens.

Once Canon has a big enough affordable RF range with Sigma and Tamron manufacturing for the RF mount, then I'll make the transition from EF to RF. Until then, I'm sticking with EF.

Personally, I'd sooner swap ecosystems than use a mix of mounts again…

    • Depends on what you want to shoot . Although an excellent lens, for my use case of birding, I found the 100-400 at bit short. So I sent it back and bough the RF 100-500. The RF lens will be quick to focus as well compared to an EF on an RF body.
