Has anyone switched from s ultra line to to x fold series and regretted the move?
I can't really speak to that as I've had a few different Ultras. Still rocking the S22 Ultra but I'll 100% upgrade to S25U. Some low-level anecdotal info is friends with Folds always seem jealous of my camera capabilities. I'm not sure if fold camera never matches Ultras but it appears that way though I've never really looked into the difference as a fold isn't for me.
Switched from S23 Ultra to Z Fold 6, I love the Z Fold so much more. I spend most of the day using the front screen but when I have a bit of downtime the bigger inner screen was great. Also when fold it is quite compact and easier for one hand use (I have small hand).
The only downside is the camera, it is inferior to the S23 Ultra by far. But it still takes plenty of good pictures, that still look very good on the big inner screen. But in certain cases like low light or zoom, you can tell that it is not great.
Did I regret it? Absolutely not.
Would be pretty similar I reckon, unless they round the screen edges and make it more like an iphone.
There have been much better deals around from JB if people are willing to go the extra lengths to get the price down. Mine cost $765 in the end which is pretty good for that phone.
I prefer pure Android coming from Pixels, but can mostly ignore the Samsung apps and install the Google ones. Still seems more cumbersome.
What I liked with Pixel:
- slow swipe up for screen shot or selecting text
- Gboard voice to text doesn't stop listening between sentences.
- Although not a proper fingerprint scanner, seems a lot better than S24U with screen protector.
- Easier to take decent photos (but no doubt the S24U in pro mode is better with some setting tweaks/experience.
Bought one for about $950.
But the OP one has "AI" on the title, that makes it worth an extra $700 yeah?!
Live Transcribe and Live Caption are highly recommended for people with hearing impairments, they are lifesavers.
Except the live voice transcription on the S24 Ultra is absolutely rubbish. It sucks at accurately transcribing Australian accents, and that's just the beginning. If someone's speaking English in a Malaysian accent, it autodetects it as "Korean", and even if you override it to English, you just end up with nonsense gibberish English being transcribed.
As for the summarise feature, it's way too trigger-happy in marking your conversation as inappropriate if even one person makes an off-hand raunchy joke once during a 40 minute recording, so you end up with "Can't summarise recording because it might contain inappropriate content".
@Yukari Yakumo: Just use Gboard - swear words can be recorded as ***** etc.
Not a deal sorry, S24U has been miles cheaper than this, even cheaper at the Samsung store.
$1497 for 512gb a month ago.
But today isn't month ago tho, this would be the cheapest if you need to buy one today!
Good on ya, but it's $300 more for an inferior phone, so it's not a deal.
Work gives me appreciate points Amazon gift cards arent on the list :(
Just have to wait for a good JB deal on Black Friday… or the S25 Ultra
how can u justify paying more than 800 for a phone?
Very easily apparently , "I've got what you want , I've got what you need !
still not worth the price
how can u justify paying more than 600 for a phone?
How can you justify paying more then $2000 for a car?
Now that's just silly , we're not living in the seventies anymore.
AI phone feels like an exaggeration. It comes with some kinda dodgy AI tricks that you can do better with other software.
What the heck is an AI phone? Also, not a deal, I bought the 512GB version from JB Hi-fi for tree fiddy barely a few weeks ago.
So we're just chucking 'AI' on the end every time we want to double the price hey.
Might tell my employer I'm now an AI employee.
I asked Perplexity for some tips to help you when you tell them:
Here are some things you could tell your boss when identifying as an "AI employee":
Emphasize Efficiency: Explain that identifying as an AI employee allows you to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity and efficiency in your tasks, similar to how AI is transforming workplaces globally.
Highlight Skill Development: Mention that embracing AI skills is part of staying current with technological advancements, which are increasingly valued in the job market.
Assure Human Value: Reassure your boss that while AI tools assist in tasks, human oversight and creativity remain irreplaceable, ensuring your role is still crucial.
Promote Transparency: Suggest open communication about AI usage to align with company policies and foster a culture of innovation.
Exactly - how is this different to Siri, Alexa, Bixby, OK Google?
Surely there's plenty of people that are after modern hardware, good battery life and a midrange price?
Hell no. Find yourself an S23 Ultra instead. Couldn't live without that 10x optical zoom now.
Just got back from an African safari and everyone else on the trip want to ditch their iPhones and buy an S23 Ultra.
Dunno, good/different.
https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/samsung-galaxy-s24-ultr…Worth researching the best camera settings on either phones, and getting the camera assistant app. Pro modes have a lot of capabilities compared to out of the box auto modes.
I need this to go on sale again, my phone's about to be shut down lol
Is it just me or is it very difficult to take good photos with the S24U?
I've installed camera assistant and reviewed/changed various settings. Macro shots seem very difficult compared to the pixel phones.
No doubt the quality and results are there with a lot of faffing around and practice, particularly in pro mode, but is hardly a good point and shoot IMO.Guess there are a few other things I prefer on pixel
- phone placed face down mutes everything (does nothing on Samsung unless call coming in).
- better UI for screenshots & text selection.
- different vibrations depending on app
HODL. <12 weeks until Samsung S25 Ultra.
