    Does this amp do what I will call passive pass through (I'm sure it has a proper title) were it will still connect HDMI devices even when it's turned off?

          The sound should come of the tv speakers when in this mode (if supported, many don't).

          You can always watch the TV without turning the TV on, it's pretty boring though. Like watching grass grow but without the interesting character development.
