  • Does anyone actually feel better taking a multivitamin?

    • +6

      I don't feel worse

    • If you’re already eating a well-rounded, nutrient-rich diet, a multivitamin might not make a noticeable difference because you’re not addressing a deficiency.

You might think you're eating a well-rounded, nutrient-rich diet, but it's difficult to know.

I have been eating a significant amount of veg, 2 eggs a day, every day (good source for zinc). 1 anal probe later, I found that taking some zinc supplements will reduce the size of my swollen prostate.
My vision also started to deteriorate. Was it caused by a vitamin deficiency? Who knows?

In hindsight I should rather have kept taking the multivitamin.

        • Which zinc supplement brand/product helped with your prostate?

          • @mhc: Just a regular high dose Zinc + Vit C + Vit D supplement.
I bought whatever was on sale. I think I took double the RDA for Zinc for a while, but have a chat to your Dr or urologist.

    • It's physically impossible to fit all the vitamins you need into a single tablet.

They just od you in certain vitamins and give you 1% of rdi for others

    • or you can just eat the right foods with all those vitamins and get more UV from the sun for vitamin D?

  • +4

My piss comes out nutrient rich

    • and that proves that your body is flushing all thestuff it foesn't need, i.e. the vitamins.

These wuold be good, i understand, if you have a defficiency, but not really necessary for everyone to take daily. How do you know if you have a defficiency? I guess is going to the doctor and get checked.

    • Distill it into a capsule then

Plenty of evidence that multivitamins are entirely pointless for almost everyone. But I still take a cheap one because witchcraft

  • Singapore these are $50 plus and 100 tabs are 99-120 a bottle Sing dollars. Tried to grab one as needed magnesium and potassium and couldn't justify it..

  • This chemist in Brisbane has the 65+ version for $3.95 plus $9 for 1 hour delivery

Swisse are the worst vitamins with poor quality control and source ingredients globally.

Ethical Nutrients is the superior vitamin brand followed closely by Blackmore with production, ingredients and quality control.

Additionally, recent studies suggest small doses of vitamins regularly are better at maintaining deficiencies than large doses which overload the system and get flushed out almost immediately.

    Centrum are superior and cheaper
