OK, popped into our local (recently opened) Good Guys store in Mornington looking at buying an ipod docking thingy. Let me state:

  • Not sure whether this offer only applies to the Mornington store.
  • Not 100% sure on the free model, but it was on sale in the store for around $94 and it's Sony although dock only (no clock/radio)
  • The radio isn't DAB so assume it's an old/discontinued line.

So you get two docks for $144, the chap even apologised for only being able to knock off $4 more.

    Or you could get a TDK one from Big W for $50 (two if you really need the second one) and it works out about a third cheaper (considering the freebie) for an alarm clock/radio/ipod dock of similar or better quality.

    Indeed I could Andy, but as I was neither near a Big W, nor particularly looking for ipod dock bargains, this one in my local Good Guys seemed to me like an excellent offer so thought I'd throw it on here in case anyone is remotely interested, so a little puzzled by the neg vote?

        Not taking it personally, just don't understand the logic. You're not comparing like for like. I could, presumably, walk into Aldi, Dimmi's, Reject Shop, etc, and purchase two ipod docks, of inferior quality, for well under $100.
        Surely to comment on the validity of a deal you have to compare the same products!?

          TDK is pretty up there with audio technology…as I said equivalent (or better) quality.

    How about anyone interested in these buy with me and we can split the cost. Sony's one is always better in terms of built and sound quality compared to TDK's. I've seen this offer is available in many store, DSE, Big W, Target, as long as you buy a certain Sony dock.

    The 2nd (free) dock is a piece of junk - At work each year we have names drawn out of a hat and when your name is drawn you get to select a gift from the gift table - I was about pick number 30 and got the "free" dock that came with the good one as my gift (only reasonable item left - person before me grabbed the actual dock) - I used the little one once and never again - sounds like an old nokia on speakerphone inside a baked bean can.
