Having these without also having name/phone number contact details on them is pretty useless, because that little old lady who finds your pet isn't going to have a smart phone with QR code scanning software on it

One side should have the details on, the other side should have the QR code on. QR codes aren't that mainstreamed into community yet. Imagine trying to keep a dog still to scan the code lol

Indeed. Having the pet's details in human readable format is far more important than some brand-name.

Tags come off so micro-chipping is highly recommended… quick and relatively painless (its a needle) none of my pets have ever had as much as a whimper when they had theirs put in.

For the tag the pets name and a phone number will get them back to you most of the time… or they will take them to the local vet and the vet will ring after scanner the microchip…. I know this as I had a beagle who like to do the runner as he never adjusted to our suburban 600mSq block after living on a 800 hectare farm.

How is scanning a tag and reading your phone faster than reading the tag directly?

My dog isn't allowed to access the internet until she's over 12…

  • i think this is for when your dog gets lost in an area populated by young people who know what QR code is.

pray your dog doesnt get lost in an area less populated with technologically adept residents.

  • It's a good idea but does need a non QR contact to be viable which might make the QR part redundant.

  • print something like https://chart.googleapis.com/chart?chs=150x150&cht=qr&chl=Re…, along with it in english, onto some stickers and cover the animal with 'em…. ;-)
