  • Oh yeah!, Dan murphy here I come.

  • Could you print this and use it at Dan Murphy's?

    • Dan's generally don't take print-outs these days. You need the actual cutout from the paper.

    • +1

      No chance!

    • DM will call the store if you don't have the catalogue and DM price beat

  • great price. also great for the bottle of beam

  • no idea what gwd is

    • Get Wines Direct. It's a store in Richmond.

    • Same mob who did a case of Corona's for $7 delivered a while back.

      • Guessing you mean 6 pack?!

  • Price matched at DM's in the past with the newspaper cutout. Didn't realise GWD no longer advertise in the Herald Sun at the back of Wednesday's technology liftout.

    • They stopped earlier this year. According to the GWD manager they weren't maing any money out of it (the people bringing in the Herald Sun voucher were only buying the cheap beer - the theory behind the voucher was to get them in for the beer and sell them some wine)

      • They must've backflipped on this decision…
You'll find it in the Herald-Sun today (Thursday 20/12) on page 32 (top left corner)!!!

    Discriminatory against people in Wheelchairs.

    • +2

      hahahaha well spotted!

      • +1

many people in wheelchairs are already legless so no need for a carton

  • Apparently GWD is not accepting printouts either. Will need the original coupon from "The Age"

    • Thanks, probably worth the $1.?? for The Age to save a few bucks!!!

      • Actually, The Age is $2.

        • +2

Might have to think about this one now 'tightarse'…
          (Obviously been a while!!!)

        • Should I feel bad that I bought the paper at a servo, drove 500m up the road to Springvale DM, took page 5 out and threw the rest in the bin???

        • I did that

  • +1

DAMN it sucks living in Tas when I see these sort of specials

    • ….and QLD - Heck we cant even buy discount beer in the supermarket here!

      GRRRRRRRRRRR
      NANNY STATE!!

  • Ps. Dan Murphy's price guarantee conditions as follows:

So I guess that 3rd point means Perth misses out! :(

      • only just though!

      • And every other state.

  • +3

Bought 3 cases (@ $29.95 each) with 1 voucher at Chelsea Heights store. Just played dumb, no questions asked. Must have been a new salesperson.

    • Even though the voucher says 1 per customer! That's awesome!

    • Chelsea hey… Might try Springy or Oakleigh then!!!
      (BWS won't match… I rang Clayton!!!)

    • Girl at Springvale didn't bat an eyelid!!!
But I was hoping she didn't keep the page!!!

  • Wish we had GWD on the Goldie….!!!

  • Has anyone had Dan Murpheys price match this one?

    • Yes, it was a smooth transaction!

      • Using a print out?

        • No, coupon in the Age paper.

    • Read 'tightarse' post (2 up)!!!
Actually managed to get 3 cases!!!

    • Yep, got two Slabs and JBs @ coburg. No probs.

  • DM at Frankston always refuse to price match because the store is more than 10 k's away.

    • DM at Seaford Hotel (yes, the Pines) matched a Hump Club special on my phone a couple of weeks ago!!!
Guess it depends on who you come accross!!!

  • So an actual cut-out from the newspaper? Or can we print it out?

    • +1

Most won't accept a print out!!!
(But depends on the kid behind the register!!!)

    • Go into a library and cut it out of their copy. Most Libraries carry the Age.

      • Or McDonalds after the library closes?

  • Note this is only for Vic residents and it doesnt matter if you are more than 10ks away from store in Vic to pricematch .GWD is the only outlet they do this for.

    • If the person at the register of DM actually knows the conditions of sale regarding price matching…
Then it matters a lot!!! As this is a 'Walk in customer only' deal!!!

      • Which The person at Springvale doesn't… or didn't care!!!

  • Gutted. Why are gwd sales always on weekdays while we work and can't go there?

  • Ohh ok- so NSW dan murphy's matching is out of the question?

    • You could try and hope the staff dont know the rules

  • this ain't a deal, this is a steal! and I love Corona but no GWD

  • I'll give it a try and let you all know then

  • Is it a Melbourne deal or a Sydney deal?

    • gor it, it is in MEL

  • +1

Can confirm it works in Geelong (no GWD within 10km…more like 100km!) using original voucher from newspaper.
Can also confirm you can get both deals.
I got the slab of Corona + 700ml Beam for $49.80 total… bargain indeed!

  • Worked at Melbourne QV $49.80 for both the guy said he is ringing gwd right now to see if they still have stock lol

  • -2

Made for less than a $1 and is the definition of rubbish lager. How about some real ale?

    • Agree!

    • Yeah… and none of that cold stuff you keep in a fridge!!! * sarcasm *

  • "Have the Big Boys match these prices!"
Do they actually want us to price match at DM?

  • Had no problems at my local DM (around 18km from GWD) … got only one and they kept the original voucher.

  • This is what's wrong with Australia.

People doing this kind of thing are putting small business out of pocket and forcing them to close down. A new local bottle-o opened in my area. It's safe to say at least 90% of their stock's every day price is cheaper than Dan Murphy's, the other 10% isn't too far off anyway. But people constantly go to Dan Murphy's thinking they're the cheapest.

Here we have a great sale on two popular products. Instead of supporting them, most of you are running off to Dan Murphy's to save a further $1. Really? $1? Can't you support a local business who has offered a great price that Dan Murphy's haven't?

I see these guys working their hearts out, great customer service, they make you feel welcome in their store, Dan Murphy's, you're just another customer being served by a 18 year old that has absolutely no idea what's going on besides what is being scanned on their computer screen. Then they put an ad in the local paper with unbelievable prices, prices that even shock Dan Murphy's, but what do you do? Will you go there to save just a further $1?

mod - edited for inappropriateness and to remove personal attacks

    • +1

yeah but my Woolies shares were $29 and rising last time I looked :)

    • I would definitely prefer to shop at a husband and wife ran shop…
If they were actually near to where I live and/or work!!!
As it is, my work is actually about 15km away (about 3/4 hour city driving + parking time) and my home is another 30km away again!!!
Some of the other people posting that have been lucky enough to get the deal price matched have also come from simililar disctances away!!!
I do hope that this theory is extended beyond just a bottle-o, and that 'we' also follow this principal when we're about to walk into a Woolworths, Harvey Norman, Myer, etc. and even somewhere like Maccas!!!!!

I've done work for the Australian importer of Corona and I can tell you they are importing these cartons from Mexico for about $9 each. $30 should be the everyday price, not the special price!

    • un-f*King-believable - $9!!!!!!

    • corona is way overpriced and over rated. I dont mind it in the summer but only if its going cheap

    • +4

Let's say you order $9000 worth of Corona slabs (1000) at $9 wholesale price each.

      Customs value (Cval)
      9000

Customs duty (Duty) @ 5% of Cval
      450(Payable)

      Shipping (I'll take a very conservative guess at $5 a 10KG slab)
      5000

Wine Equalisation Tax (WET) @ 29 per cent of (Cval+Duty+T&I)
      4190

Value of the Taxable Importation (VoTI) (Cval+Duty+T&I+WET)
      18640

Goods and Services Tax (GST) @ 10% of the VoTI
      1864

Total payable Duty + WET + GST
      20504

= $20.5 a slab just to get it into the country.
Advertising, hiring, other costs will bring it up.

To say that a slab of corona 'only costs $9' isn't really fair.
(Keep in mind this is all VERY conservative. I know that beer is cheap overseas- I recently got back from Cambodia where a slab of local brew was $14, same in Holland where Heineken is 9 euros a slab!)

  • We're gonna have to start a new business bootlegging beers to lower the value of alcohol… I've probably just been watching too much Boardwalk Empire.
