This is the regular Tanqueray (higher alc content duty free though) not the No. Ten which is far superior

    • Swing and a miss.

Its actually actually a pretty great deal too.
Sure No. Ten is nicer, but regular tanq is still good and 2L for for under $80 is stil great. (Higher alc too!)

Pointless to post duty free deals in response to normal deals.

@unit0000: Usually I agree. But today I'm casually browsing Ozbargain while abroad - so it's actually useful for me - I still mighf not buy the regular one over No. Ten.

            • @Schrodinger: Yeah, It's coming into Christmas so a lot of people are traveling so i thought it was of interest.

Usually the best trick with duty free, buy the stuff with the most alcohol. If you were to try buy it at a store there's almost $100 of excise on those two bottles then add GST on top of it. It's why the 47.3% version of Tanqueray exists in duty free and not retail here.

I tend to use travelling to grab some of the higher proof whiskeys I like.

          • @freefall101: I've got tons of the Belvedere Intense because that was a pretty good duty free buy.

    • What's the cheapest international flight I need to book to get these?

It's a good gin. Was a premium gin before gins became trendy.

  • Does anyone drink Gin on the rocks maybe with a dash of lemon ? What's the point of buying expensive alcohol if you are going to mix it with soft drinks. I can understand buying a good single malt or a good sipping bourbon or Rum.

    • It sounds like you don't enjoy gin very much. People also absolutely drink gin neat

      • That's why I asked a question, I am not a white spirit person, but thank you for clarifying 😉. Cheers

    • I’m a whisky drinker and yep very much you can drink gin neat. I very rarely will drink gin with a mixer

Neat aside, where good gin shines are in cocktails like martinis and Negronis where the quality of the spirit makes a difference to the quality of the drink

    • and have people drinking straight mixer?

    • Gin is the base in a lot of booze heavy cocktails (a classic Martini for example is pretty much straight Gin) so quality will make them shine.

G&T's are best for me when the ratio is 50:50 so the same goes i guess
