Let me guess, one or two cars ooerating?

      Third paragraph:

A fleet of 50 sleek Kia electric vehicles will be deployed during these two weeks…

There are free trams too, if you're content to travel with others.

    • +2

No there’s three cars this time.

  • +6

    Nice looking car btw

    • shame about all the graffiti at the location shoot

      • Really? Most people find them to be quite iconic, although I personally avoid them coz they stink.

      • +6

Never quite understood how Melbourne made a tourist destination from filthy graffiti-scrawled laneways that stink from rotten garbage and drunken bums pissing in them

        • -1

I suspect you don’t actually go down many of them. The very small laneways can be like that but the “touristy” ones are maintained.

        • -4

Yeah interesting hey. Same with cafes with exposed gas and water pipes along the walls, paint peeling off brickwork, dirt and grime in the corners, or, sitting outside in tiny lanes or courtyards with tiny tables where your knees hit the bottom, sitting on milk crates while stinky cars and Harlies roar past. Maybe that wasn’t invented by Melbourne though (could’ve been NYC for example).

Should’ve just ended at free Kia car

Was waiting for this deal lol. Thanks OP. Used this last year and was really nice.

    • +3

      It’s the exact opposite actually.

      • It’s the exact opposite actually.

A more accurate summary would be 'less than expected demand'. If you are selling above your forecast, you don't need to do promos to try and move more stock. I was looking at an EV6 GT recently and they were selling ex-demo's for $40k below RRP. No-one does discounts like that if you are meeting targets.

        • Point
But if you factor in the pulling back of government rebates, decline in the sales growth% was to be expected, so everything considered EV market’s doing good right now.
Also, the influx of cheap Chinese cars forcing a lot of companies hands to compete on the pricing front.

        • +2

Mind if I ask where these ex demos are being offered for 40k under RRP?

Mind if I ask where these ex demos are being offered for 40k under RRP?

I took one for a test drive at Sydney City Kia last year. RRP was $115k, it was selling for $75k. Great car but didn't proceed because electric is not practical for my current circumstances. When I checked on Carsales there was two in Wollongong Kia and one at Gosford Kia for the same price.

    • Bit like buying a LG phone

Sold at a discount and use the loss as a tax write-off. Look out for some cheap 'ex-Demo' stock next month.

Worth noting they're not all EV9's. This post says EV9, but the article says it's all the Kia EV range. Some clever person at Kia found a novel way to use up all that excess stock use it for a tax break and advertising at the same time.

One of my favourite deals ❤️

  • -1

Lol what benefit do you get from posting so many deals

  • +2

Did anyone get one last year? I tried last year but couldn't see any.

This is excellent marketing. Evs makes so much sense for rideshare. I"m surprised government haven't mandate rideshare to be ev only. Also evs car carshare would be a good idea as well as they have dedicated parking that could be used for charging.

    • I"m surprised government haven't mandate

Yeah that's what we more of, the government forcing us to do more stuff…

  • Free lifts to work FTW!

  • +2

Is it 8km as the crow flies or what the gps shows?

  • +1

Any EV3 around for demo or rides?

  • +2

Nice. Let's hope these uber drivers don't drive with the throttle on/off like so many do.

That is, throttle is at 100% or 0%. Creating a sickening lurch for their passengers. EVs make this worse due to their instant torque.

    • And regenerative braking

    • Let's hope these uber drivers don't drive with the throttle on/off like so many do

Come on man, it's multiculturism! Do you fell enriched yet?

Am I the only one who cant see any? Uber One Member and everything

    • +1

I managed to book a trip this morning from Albert Park to the NGV.

I keep refresh the APP today at 2pm, 4pm, 6pm. All costing money.
Uber One member and tried in CBD, Port Melbourne beach and Southbank.
Destination is set to Rod Laver Arena.
I think this is completely false advertising.

  • Has anyone worked out what the cutoff is for how far away you can travel? For me it seems pick up AND drop of both have to be within 8km

    • Yep looks like the same for me. I am able to book a ride now from Melbourne Park to the CBD, however, Melbourne Park to my home is a no no

  • +1

Beware, they deduct your uber one credits first before giving you free credits to cover for the remaining balance.

  • There’s 50 over the week. I’ve been trying since 6 to get a free ride to port Melb. No luck

  • Thanks op. Got one easy from Hawthorn to the tennis today 🎾

    • When you type in rod laver as address do you just keep refreshing until a $0 fare comes up?

  • Got one from Collingwood to the courts, not bad if it's around 9pm. Then I just walked home heh.
