ShopBack Cashback Issues - Transactions Changed to $0

Hi All,

I ordered several items at the recent 35% cashback deal on Everyday Market, after the transactions were complete i had 6 transactions tracked on my account, 3 were for $0 and 3 were for the correct amounts tracked.

Over a week ago, two of the tracked transactions ($260+ each) were zeroed out on my account and i was left with 5x $0 and one successful tracked amount :( They were all due to be confirmed by 30th Jan 2025. Given I ordered on 2nd Nov, I am well past the 30 day return window and can confirm I'm still using all the products!

After wasting much time with the ShopBack chatbot, which got me nowhere, I raised a claim with ShopBack, and also got nowhere after over a week ago.

Has anybody had a similar experience with ShopBack and have any suggestions on what next?!

Thanks :(

Yet another shop**** transaction issue. Seen allot of posts from long term members who ask "Has anybody had a similar experience "… The answer is use the OZB search facility and read up on the heaps of posts.

Oh no OP. Same has happened to me too :-(. All my relatively high-value Everyday Market transactions from Nov 2, 2024, tracked successfully at the time, including tracking emails confirming the amounts. But since then, all but the first one has been zeroed out. I'll reach out to Shopback direct now too. Thanks for the heads-up!

It looks like it only allowed the 1st purchase for the upsized cashback, hidden terms added later.

      • Mine was the other way around, zero on first purchase and second remained.

In the past, if a transaction was tracked, you were almost always guaranteed to receive the cashback.

When I learned about the Honey scandal, it involved cases where transactions were not tracked because the sale was attributed to PayPal, which differs from the situations described by others on this forum.

The tracking cookie and other identifiers placed on your system determine which affiliate receives the commission, provided that the promotion's conditions are met at the time the transaction is tracked. A transaction can only be subsequently rejected due to failure to meet criteria.

Once a sale has been tracked, it cannot be mistakenly attributed to another affiliate.

There is limited recourse in this situation. Evidence suggests that cashback cannot be classified as ordinary income, meaning it cannot be considered a loss of income if you did not receive it. This legal uncertainty makes it unlikely that class action lawsuits can be pursued against these companies. However, I have only discussed this topic informally with my colleagues. It is conceivable that a prominent barrister or judge might hold a differing view, but I see there is potentially a lack of contractual consideration. In my opinion, a cashback is more of a windfall and reward.

Personally, I refrain from making a purchase using cashback services unless I am fully prepared not to receive the cashback.

The Honey legal case will be an important case to follow and could bring the house of cards crashing down.

  • Imma guess you bought items that were ineligible and/or used a code that wasn't on Shopback's website (like do they even have codes?).

With the latter, plenty got caught out using the code for new customers but found out after the 30 day period.

    • I purchased eligible items and didn't use any codes and mine was still changed to zero.

Hey Everybody! No worries, we understand your frustration with the Everyday Market Cashback issue. We're aware that a few other customers have been experiencing the same thing.

We're already working with Everyday Market to figure out what's going on. It seems to be affecting some orders from November, so we're looking into it closely.

We apologize for the trouble this is causing, and we'll do our best to get things sorted out as quickly as possible.

    Thanks for your patience!

We've been looking into the recent issue with Everyday Market Cashback, and we've resolved the issue that was causing some Cashbacks to be incorrectly rejected.

If your Everyday Market purchase was eligible for Cashback, you should see a correction reflected in your account within the next two weeks.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

      • Thanks for the update.

      • Thanks for the update. My two transactions that previously had cashback associated with them have now been officially rejected, yet the other $0 transactions from the start remain.

Hopefully it gets fixed soon, all of mine were within the T&Cs…..

      • I know it's not quite two weeks yet but it's cutting it very fine now to fix this. Do you have any updates? Can we expect it in the next two days like you stated above?

      • Same issues - nearly 2 weeks and transaction still showing as rejected. I did submit a ticket via the bot a few weeks ago but haven’t heard anything from that as well…

        • Still nothing on my side! Half rejected, 1 showing tracking with value and two with zero value. Nothing confirmed and past the date!

Sent an email. Sent a DM to the rep. Nothing. Next stop is FT NSW and AFCA.

  • Reminder for everyone to check now it's due, in case they decline…

My 2nd-Nov EDM order wasn't changed to $0, but it's still pending beyond the approval date. (31st Jan)
It also tracked with a $0 duplicate. Hopefully it will be approved in the next few days…

  • How useless is the chat bot? I have a Dec 26th purchase from EM showing zero and reflected and I am going round in pointless circles. I want to make a claim not be annoyed by ai.

    Time to stop using shopback

    • +4

Haha yep I got nothing from it, but then again it took two weeks for support to email back saying hold on were working on it, two weeks ago I emailed again for an update and have got nothing back!

Realised today I still had my shopback subscription, that's cancelled now

**Edit: oh god I didn't realise the subscription gave me "Premium Support"?! That was premium?!

      • +1

I would hate to see the standard support, Bolivian ai?

  • +1

Just completely ignoring support emails, online forums, the works. I'll be using the other two cashback sites from now on.

  • +1

Well, all my other claims have been rejected besides one now that's still being tracked due Jan 31st. @gotyourback any further suggestions before I lodged a claim with ACCC?

    • Can You drop me a DM please, I'll take a look at your Cashback. Thanks

      • What about everyone else's?

      • I’m having the same issue, have sent you a DM.

  • +1

I also have a tracked amount showing on my account from November 2nd. Customer service said they were digging into the issue to make sure everything is checked properly. I would assume that as it is tracked the next step would be for them to contact Everyday market and have it turned to confirmed. Three months seems to leave a lot of time for this checking to take place.
I was considering paying for the premium version of ShopBack however definitely won’t commit until this is sorted.

    • Yep, even the successfully tracked orders aren't being payed by EDM. I'm also a SB+ member and raised the issue

    • Don't even use Shopback let alone premium. Although there are ocassional problems with all the cashback sites, shopback ignoring support emails with multiple requests for follow up is inexcusable. Topcashback have a highest cashback guarantee so can use that if shopbacks rate is better.

@gotyourback is there anything else that can be done about this for everyone who has had this issue?
As someone said above I imagine the ACCC would frown upon this.

  • I've also had the same issue. It was initially tracked twice with the correct amount then gone to 0 and rejected now. I do not use ad blockers and did not use a coupon or voucher. My other purchases previously on the same machine on smaller amounts through aliexpress had always gone through no problems.
I sent a request for ShopBack to look into it on 27/01 and they promised a reply for 31/01, which never came. Only thing was a survey on how they did, which was poorly.
I've just sent a second request for this.

    • How did you submit a ticket? Is there an email address you can contact?

      • there was a dispute rejection button

        • I can’t even dispute my txns as they haven’t been rejected yet, despite being past their “store will confirm by X dates”. Bot is useless too, can’t get anywhere with it.

          • +1

@TrueArkad88: You can try the report missing Cashback which you can fill out some information and send it to them.

  • Hey there!

I’m really sorry to hear about the issues you’ve been facing with your cashback on this deal—it’s definitely frustrating! 😔 I totally understand how you feel after spending time with the chatbot and still not getting anywhere.

If you’re still having trouble with your cashback from the Everyday Market deal, feel free to DM us directly. We’ll take a look at it and help you get it sorted as soon as possible!

Thanks for your patience, and we’ll do our best to make this right! 💚

    • Thank you. Have sent you a message 😊

  • Same issue, went from $19.95 to $0. Talking to bot. Lets see how it all goes.

  • +2

Lame, looks like purchases from November 12th and 29th deals have changed from $111 & 130 tracked to $0 now. Just one left from November 2 tracked but not confirmed from that same retailer for the same item so expecting that to change to 0 eventually now too.

    • +1

Yep, successfully tracked and elligible orders changed to $0, mine changed a lot later than most peoples…

      @gotyourback

My successfully tracked orders are now $0, changed over a month after it was supposed to be approved.
You promised me it was a hiccup on your end:

We can assure you that the duplicate $0 order shouldn't affect your actual cashback. It's just a system hiccup on our end.

This is literally my largest ever cashback and cant afford this, thats why I got your reassurance when I could still return the items…

    • Now both of my transactions have reverted back to their proper value, hopefully the same for yours @NutnButAPnut & @Ozzy24 ?

      • +1

Mine is also back now but given they have extended the timeline to payout from 75 days to 120 days on it already who knows what else can happen.

Same here, $311 cashback taken away.

Had an issue with them a month ago not tracking a $719 TEMU cashback - chatbot and online rep are not helpful, but at least I returned that order quickly.

Seems their company is indeed in shambles after mass layoffs last year.

Anybody still contemplating - DO NOT use ShopBack. I have learned my lesson the hard way.
