  • Cnet - "Plenty of better 60-inch sets are available, too, but they do cost more than this LG, making the 60PA6500 a potential bargain pick — but I'd still pay a couple of hundred more to avoid this TV's issues. Yes, the LG does look better than some LCDs that are up to twice the price, but even at this level it's not enough."

Sums it up. No where near Panasonic / Samsung plasma but still kicks many LEDs at 2k+… Lol.

  • A couple of family members made the mistake of buying 50" LG plasma's a couple of years ago.

One died 3 weeks out of warranty. The other died 2 months out. A control circuitry failure on both. LG wanted $700+ each to repair the unit, so off to the tip they went.

Each paid out $2k+ at the time, and received the bonus 26" LCD TV. The LCD TV's are still working fine.

A quick search of Google at the time, showed many others having issues with the same fault. LG was of no help in resolving the problem, unless you paid out the $$.

If you buy this, I suggest you purchase the additional warranty.

Extended warranties are for suckers. You are already covered by statutory warranty for a reasonable amount of time based on the cost and type of item purchased.

"How long do my consumer guarantee rights last for?

Under the consumer guarantees, your rights are not limited to a set time period. Instead, they last for the amount of time that is reasonable to expect given the cost and quality of the item or any representations made about the item.

This means that you may still have rights even after any voluntary or extended warranty has expired.

For example, a car would be expected to last longer than a television, and a television would be expected to last longer than a cheap toy. A more expensive fridge would also be expected to last longer than a cheap fridge."

    • What's with trolling LG TV deals, both the 50" and 60" deals?

if you want low power, thin and light tvs, dont get a plasma…the equivalent of the LED LCD are much better IMO.

    • Plasmas are now more or less as thin as LED / LCDs. Yes, they use more power but we're talking a difference of $30 a year for a 3-4 hour a day user. So bottom line, the power consumption argument is false as the equivalent LED is always comfortably more expensive, while the the best Plasmas are still outperforming LED / LCDs as they always have.
Really, if you're so concerned about power usage you'd stick with a 32 inch or smaller unit anyway. Irrellivent statement.

    • Not include delivery though.

  • Paid $969 2 months ago, not a bad tv.

  • I'ge got a 51" LF Palasma and quite happy with the quality. I still feel Plasma has a slight advanatge over LCD LED. Not as energy efficient as the LED TVs though

  • Went into Good Guys Frankston (Vic) today to check out the Samsung PS64E550 advertised at $1597 and across to JB for the LG 60PM6700 at $1196…
Anyway, GG had the 60PA6500 at $997 with an instore sticker with 15% off the marked price of all TVs, except for specials, bringing this baby down to $847.75!!!

  • OK… Scrap the Good Guys pricing!
I just went in again and the 15% off was only for the 1 day, and as it was an 'Advertised Special' the discount did not apply anyway!
I probably should've hit the guy up there & then on the spot as the reduction sticker was actually placed on this TV and the price sticker didn't say anything about 'as advertised' at the time!!!
Unfortunately I hadn't (& still haven't) decided what I want to get, and holding cash in my hand he said he'd do it for $995.oo! I chuckled, put my money back in my wallet, said thanks and left!!!
