New Watch Thread

Anyone fancy showing off their latest purchase? One of the fun things about this odd little hobby is sharing your latest purchase with others who will be more likely to appreciate it just as much as you.

Snap a couple of pics, upload them to your OzB file share, and link 'em here.

    I'll start things off…

I had to offload some credit at Catch so I bought a Casio 3-hander in blue from Watch Direct's marketplace store for only $115 delivered. As with a lot of Casio it really punches above its weight with a dial that changes it's personality every time you tilt it a different angle. The bracelet's definitely on the cheap side, but I don't see why it can't be swapped for something a bit better.

Some pics showing how it changes in the light:

The effect is even better in sunlight.

    I'll add to the list…

  • I think you'll have better luck on Reddit personally.

    • Wouldn't surprise me if OZB members are more likely to just use a popular smart watch, than the average Australian.

      • That’s okay, too, there’s a reason the Apple Watch is the most popular personal timepiece in the world. It offers a lot of things an analogue watch doesn’t, many of which are undeniably useful (and a few that…aren’t). If this is what you’ve gotten recently then by all means post it, and tell everyone why you like it and what you’re looking forward to using it for!

Got a call to pick up a blue dial VC Overseas in early December. Put a big scratch on the bezel last week lol.

I had the black dial about two years ago but sold it cause I wanted the blue dial originally. Forgot all about being on the list so it was a nice surprise when they rang.

The watch I wear most days is a good old Seiko SPB143J https://seikoboutique.com.au/product/SPB143J dive watch.

    Currently also own:

  • Seiko SRPE41J Cocktail Time “Negeoni” just arrived today. Very happy with this purchase, great size and a dial that changes with the light play.

  • Related question thats not worthy of a new thread - has anyone recently successfully removed the 'cyclops' from a Steeldive?

Pickup up an SD1953 yesterday and like many others find the utterly absurb magnification of the cyclops really detracts from the look. Am reluctant to use a blowtorch - but just unsuccessfully tried a soldering iron (with chisel tip.

Held it against the cyclops with some force for a few mins and no budge in the cyclops at all - making me think the heat hadn't softened the adhesive used.

Tried straight brute force with scraper razor blade and no luck either - was applying enough force to bend the blade!

Perhaps SD has change the way they apply the cyclops? or am I just stuffing up? Feedback welcomed.

  • With the upcoming Prime Days, what is everyone chasing after if it's the right price? I've gone Casio overboard lately, picking up a couple here and here plus an Edifice ECB-2200 from Casio AU during their recent EOFY sale.

    • I'm intrigued by the Pagani Design PD1726 which has a very familiar Submariner shape but an interesting dial design & colourway. Plus, it's one of the cheapest full-dial lume watches I've seen. Apparently the bracelet is rubbish, however, so I'm open to suggestions for that.
