  • I wish I could (learn to) play the Guitar now!

  • I have two Marquez guitars I bought years ago on eBay when Marquez were starting up their online auctions and can highly recommend them. I don't think they offer local pick up anymore like when I bought them so free shipping is a bonus and the guitars are well worth the $79 for any parent whose kid wants to learn guitar and would have probably started with a Valencia or such guitar anyway.

  • Will you have a similar deal on the MC300-EC anytime soon?

    • HI there. Not sure. We have appropriate stocks of those, and they sell well. For those of you that know of Marquez, we rarely do sales like this on items.

Sign up to our newsletter list if you want to keep up with future specials etc (we don't spam every day!)

Now I'm compelled to buy one.

        Thanks!

  • Been looking for a guitar to learn on for awhile now. Just ordered one :)

Do you sell picks etc? I couldn't see any on the website

    • +2

We include some picks with each guitar.

      • Thats excellent service!! As a true OzBargainer I will have to ask tough..any special inclusions just for us OZbargainers? Like a soft bag or something? I'm sooooo close to pulling the trigger on this.

        • +3

As a true retailer, I would have to say, we have already cut price by 50% and included free courier shipping! :)

If anyone else is after some accessories, we might be able to do some deals on digital tuners, cables etc. But can't throw in anything else with the guitars sorry!

        • Fair enough. +ve from me either way (even +ve your reply cause it was prompt!). What about a discounted price for a soft bag to be included with free shipping? Can be easily packed together?

Tough these guitars seem to already be going for the ~$80-$85 mark shipped on your ebay auctions (I'm assuming their your store too) on a regular basis.

I bought one and afterthought .. Postcode 3123 via PayPal… Can I add a capo to my order?

        • Thanks for the vote.
We do the occasional auction, but very few. These auctions don't sell for $79 (MD150s often around double this price including shipping). And this model isn't auctioned either. The $80 auction that recently appeared in feedback is for a MD100 (NOT elec/acoustic) and didn't include shipping either.

Running low on gig bags, so can't do a special on those sorry.

        • Please call 03 9761 7622 and ask for Ellie, Alana or Meegan and they will help.

        • Aren't these them? just different colour? Just clarifying where I got my last comment from that's all.

PS> I am still going to buy one of these from you either way today so don't worry you have my business :)

        • Blue one is slightly higher spec.
Sunburst is same quality - but low on stocks.
Natural not listed (selling too quick atm - and don't want to oversell)

          Thanks!

        • What's the difference between the 150A and the 150EC? Tempted to see if I could swing an auction for the EC for a decent price. I do quite like the blue colour.

        • Minor quality difference. The MD150A was a large purchase (40' HQ containers), at a better price. MD150A has slightly smaller body dimensions than the MD150 blue. MD150 blue has slightly nicer edge bindings etc.

        • Ease up… tight arse.

  • How does this compare with those $80 ones on ebay that comes with accessories etc.?

    • Hard to say without looking at a specific listing. But generally you get what you pay for. Some of the eBay sellers operate on very low margins, and quality of product can vary a lot. Some might be quite good, others not so.

We contract a very large guitar manufacturer to product our instruments. They build other well known brand instruments too. We only sell quality items, as shown in the reviews of our products. Our guitars are made with correct techniques, quality woods (aged spruce in the cae of our solid top models) and we specifically build with higher quality components than more basic models sometimes found.

We offer a full moneyback guarantee as well. if you don't like it, return in original condition.

      Cheers!

  • Can it be played without an amp? How does the guitar sound when it's not plugged in to amp? Is there anything else that you would need before starting to play this guitar? Cheers :)

    • Sound is great, even without an amp. With the cutaway you lose a 'little' bit of low end, but not much in our experience. The guitars come pre-stringed of course, but not tuned.

You can use online tuning tools (or free iPhone/Andriod apps to chromatically tune), or pick up on of our tuners. So tuning is all you need to start playing.

    • These are acoustic so the simple answer is yes…they can be played without an amp. You basically have the option of using an amp if you want with these but its not necessarily needed. :)

You can also listen to a sound sample via the website so that could probably help you out a bit.

I'm just keen to get one to try to get back to some sort of music…haven't touched a guitar properly in about 8 years and only have my electric fender squire with me so wouldn't mind an acoustic to start practising again.

How about other colour of the same model, can you sell them as the same price?

    • We have a MD150A sunburst, I presume you are referring to this? Can't do sale on that sorry.
The other coloured elec/acoustics here http://www.marquez.com.au/guitars/electric-acoustic-guitars we may do a special on later in the year.

    • Hi there,

Not sure on ETA for more of our electric guitar range. I would guess 3-4 months away at this stage.

        • Most likely beginner/intermediate packs, with amp etc. We get all of our amps C-Tick approved with AU plugs though (something to be wary of when buying off ebay/chinese sellers - make sure they are Australian compliant amps and power cords etc)

        • Haven't finalised styles yet.

I've been meaning to try my hand at learning real guitar for a long, long while now (Guitar Hero on the 360 just doesn't cut it anymore..), all signs point to this being a great guitar for a complete newb, I think I ay have to bite the bullet and finally invest :)

  • Hi there, I’m a complete novice I have no idea how to play the guitar but I want to learn. I think I may grab one of these.
I’m after some recommendations on the best way to learn, preferably somewhere on the net.

  • Sold out!

  • Hi rep, got anything with similar quality and price range in near future?
I was about to ask whether this guitar is comfortable to play on? Then it's sold out :(

    I'm a beginner guitar player.
I bought acoustic guitar a long time ago and the strings is quite far away from the fretboard, so it's really painful on the hands when playng bar chords. so I was hesitating to buy this online without trying the real feel of the guitar. Was traumatic to buy 2nd guitar til now.

Hope to hear from you soon!

    Thanks!

    • Hi we try to get all of our guitars out of the factory with a 'medium' action. This is the best trade-off given different buyers of our instruments.

As far as sales like this, we don't do them often.
But if we need to move a few more items, we will try ozbargain first.

If you want, prior to purchase of a guitar, we could measure the action on a few for you to give you a better idea. Call 03 9761 7622 if you need more info.

  • Do you guys have acoustic/electric studio size?

    • No, sorry. Only full size dreadnought at the moment.

  • Hi rep - please tell your dispatch department that they are awesome! Purchased mine at 1.42pm, received a tracking number at 4.56pm, and tracking shows that my item was apparently picked up by the courier at 4pm. Kudos.

    • Thanks, will do. You should have it very soon then. Thanks for your order.

  • Grrrrrrrr…….. Missed out :(

  • So the MC300-EC would be ok with Rocksmith on PS3?

I've alwyas wanted to give that a go. Guess I'd need a tuner and amp tho (never played a guitar in my life. Entirely unmusical. Not a clue how to tune a thing, wouldn't know what a particular note was if I heard it).

    Edit: which tuner?
    Uh.. no amps?

    • You can get a tuner as iPhone apps, or use an online service if you don't want to buy one (although the online ones aren't that great in our experience).
      Our tuner is here: http://www.marquez.com.au/chromatic-guitar-and-instrument-tu…

Sold out of amps with our last batch of electric guitars sorry.

Re: Rocksmith, sure, this guitar would work with it (like any elec/acoustic). A 'pure' electric guitar might be best (for the experience!) I guess, but any guitar that can be amplified by plugging it into an amp should work by the looks of it.

  • Giving this a plus just cos of the rep's hard work (and apparent great price).

  • Long time lurker here, and I've just been compelled to sign up to + this deal.

Received my guitar today, barely 18 hours after payment. You guys are awesome. Thanks!

  • So much for the quick delivery. Mine arrived about an hour ago and I'm really disappointed with the workmanship. I have already arranged return with Tamara (costing me $10 for courier). I had looked at the ebay pics of the MD150 series before purchasing to get an idea of build standard and they looked great but the reality is nothing like the pics. Nut is off center. Unpainted or chipped wood of neck exposed/visible on one side of nut. Wood is patched/plugged near fixing screw of one tuning peg as though they mis-drilled a hole and tried to fix it. Glue run with impregnated paper fibers where fingerboard is bonded to soundboard. Saddle leaning towards sound hole at weird angle. Paint run on side corner near base of neck. Scuffs on bindings. Few small/minor dents in sound board. Massive shower of sawdust and shavings fell out of sound hole when I shook it after hearing rattles/scrapes inside. Corroded/blackened strings. Hope the other buyers had better luck than me.
