Added IMPORTANT NEWS, possible defected Nvidia 5090, 5080 and 5070 Ti
From Nvidia:
We have identified a rare issue affecting less than 0.5% (half a percent) of GeForce RTX 5090 / 5090D, RTX 5080, and 5070 Ti GPUs which have one fewer ROP than specified. The average graphical performance impact is 4%, with no impact on AI and Compute workloads. Affected consumers can contact the board manufacturer for a replacement. The production anomaly has been corrected.

How to check your GPU:
First, you'll need TechPowerUp GPU-Z, a utility that provides all of the information about your current GPU in an easy-to-digest manner. It also provides access to monitoring tools that provide up-to-the-minute temperature, clock speed, and other information.
You'll want TechPowerUp GPU-Z v2.63.0 as the latest version adds official support for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and other RTX Blackwell GPUs.
Open GPU-Z, as this will give you a full breakdown of your GPU's specs on the Graphics Card tab. The key information you're looking for is the ROPs count. The correct values should be as follows.
GeForce RTX 5090 or RTX 5090D - 176 ROPs
GeForce RTX 5080 - 112 ROPs
GeForce RTX 5070 Ti - 96 ROPs
An ROP number less than this is a definite cause for concern, as your GPU will be underperforming. NVIDIA recommends contacting the GPU manufacturer for a full replacement. As seen in online reports, the incorrect RTX 5090 value will show up as 168 ROPs, the RTX 5080 as 104 ROPs, and the RTX 5070 Ti as 88 ROPs.

                • @Bargain4Days: Fair enough, i get the point of principle. Youre not missing out on much my build was into testing on thursday not sure why it hasnt shipped out yet

    • Yeah, they’ve ghosted me for about 5 days now and I keep trying to get updates for a RAM RMA that was meant to be sent out this week…

      • Maybe if you can just ask for a refund of equivlient ram value and buy some yourself I know you shouldnt have to but might be easier

        • Honestly, I would prefer that so I can at least ensure the RAM is on the QVL for the motherboard. If by Friday there isn’t anything I’m going to ask PayPal to mediate.

          • @just-human: Good idea

            • @Mxrky: @luketechfast Any response would be appreciated. I would prefer not to go through Fair Trading or PayPal as it takes time and it costs more money for everyone.

      • How did this go, my 5080 build is buggin hard atm- 2x memory_management bsods a day, and "hardware issues" noted in windows memory diagnostic. 90% sure its ram (other 10% could be a faulty paging file on the m.2)

  • FYI

Received this email 5 minutes ago:

    Good morning,

We have just been notified of a delay to the expected delivery date for the Palit GameRock RTX 5080 graphics card for your order. The previous estimate was the 3rd week of April arriving from Palit to the distributor, meaning late 3rd or likely 4th week of April to us. This has been pushed out a week, meaning the last week of April to the distributor so likely early May to us.

If you would like to continue to wait for this card, you may do so.

Please note that we cannot currently offer a swap back to the Palit GamingPro card, as we are fully allocated until the next batch arrives, which will also be with these GameRock cards. We do however have the PNY Triple Fan RTX 5080 card (https://www.pny.com/geforce-rtx-5080-models?sku=VCG508016TFX…) card on hand now, so if you would like this card, you may swap to it and your order will commence production. Please note that a refund for the upgrade price paid from Palit GamingPro to GameRock ($100) would not apply.

Alternatively, a full refund can be provided upon request.

We apologise for the extended delivery period tied to these graphics cards and their manufacturer.

Please let us know what you would like to do.

    Kind Regards,

    Luke

    • Great to see they're replying to you. I haven't got a response out of them for almost a week now.

      • have you got your rig running yet mate? If not I'd be buying some RAM sticks myself and then when you do finally receive the replacements from techfast - just sell them on ebay and recoup some of the cost.

At least you'd have your machine up and running. If you need any recco's - shoot me the model of your motherboard and I'll find some good ones and see if I can find a deal for you

        • They have arrived at my local post office yesterday. Just finding some time to pick them up. Will update when I can run a test.

    • Just got the same email lmao, the goal post keeps changing and getting further and further. Utterly ridiculous

      • Hopefully it gets sorted for you and it doesn’t arrive with a RAM issue.

      • I tapped out, switched to the PNY. I need it for work and I can’t justify waiting much longer.

        • Fair enough, bit insulting they wont refund the $100 extra that we paid for to upgrade the gpu so we could get them faster…

          • @Bargain4Days: Yeah, definitely pretty mad about that. Still cheaper than current cards though, and I was always a bit unsure about Palit and their fan noise. Hopefully the PNY 5080’s are the latest batch without the fan noise issue that people have been RMAing over.

Happy you got update Mxrky, thought you would get similar time to me originally. At least it’s before the Easter break. The Antec C3 case didn’t come with a support bracket, I just picked up an Antec I Shape Prism Adjustable GPU Stand for $9 from centrecom. Did look at the antec dagger but personally don’t like the horizontal design with this card.

As for my PC, had a weird note left inside the packaging from Techfast was on sticky note. “Rent the Roo, Roach Pc”
Packing was fine and no damage. Initial turning on the pc just black screen after bios, tried resetting the gpu incase movement during shipping and booted up fine afterwards. Would have preferred a non msi aio as other have mentioned some initial noise or whine. I’m not sure which first time using water cooling normally go with fans and heat sinks. Could be more than others as went for the 360 aio over the 240. I personally had zero issues with the wifi drives and Bluetooth on the mother board.

Every thing seems to run fine and no issues overall.

The experience overall with Techfast, has been pleasant as a customer. Replied to emails to me in a 2 day window during the time between order and ready for picking. Pc was built during the preorder window from the 2nd deal. Mine may have been built and shipped earlier than yours because I went with express post. As I do think you ordered before me or could be because I changed parts of my build and they had stock.

        • Hey Koppers, I am getting a low pitch whine with my MSI M360 AIO as well. Can't see to find a solution, its driving me abit nuts. Do you happen to have any ideas or did it just go away for you?

  • Another update on my 5090 order

    order 04/03
    picked 07/04
    built 16/04

now just waiting for testing and to be shipped out

    • Is this the one with the 9900X3D or the original 5090 deal?

      • this was not part of a deal, this just off the site with an intel core i9

Update on RAM issue for those following:

RAM arrived and I put in PC and so far no issues. Haven't done a memtest yet because I am quite busy but seems to be fine. There were some problems on boot but likely because EXPO profile was loaded from old RAM sticks. BIOS switched that off after a few failed boot warnings and I was able to go and switch the profile to XMP which has allowed it to work.

    • glad you got that issue resolved, enjoy your new pc :D

  • Those still waiting on theirs and selected Linux download the media installation from another computer that already has windows onto the USB after formatting on ventoy not the default formatting change it in the top right (I forgot the name) and then insert that into the new PC and delete the partition to make a new one. It doesn't sound to hard but the instructions techfast gave didn't work and I just spent 7 hours getting it working. I am fairly familiar with this sort of thing as well and have multiple certificates. Overall a very tedious process to figure out and instructions were not very useful at all

  • Is anyone having noise issues with their PC?

    • I posted a comment back on page 5

      When I received my computer…

"The MSI 240mm AIO is simply awful in terms or noise and rattling…. hopefully it will wear itself it.. aweird whiring and funny noises and vibrations.. … had similar same issues (though not as bad) with a evatech prebuilt with MSI 240mm AIO.. … but its seemed to get a little better over time.. (PS.. I would never buy and MSI AIO myself..). This unit is definitely sound worse than my Evatech prebuild…"

    • Yep. I have the MSI 240 AIO cooler and its noisy as hell. I dont get any weird noises or vibrations, just that the fans are loud af. RPM is around 1570 and CPU temp around 46 C when browsing.

      • get some software called FanControl and use that to adjust speeds based on CPU temperature. If you've got an AMD ryzen CPU they're designed to operate at 95c (see linked article from AMD) so don't worry too much about temps (you can't damage it at all - it'll throttle before that happens). Just find a temp and noise level you're comfortable with.

Personally I let my 9800x3D hit 95c when stress testing / compiling shaders etc, and in game I let it hit 70-80c before fans really kick in so I can keep my fans at low RPM as I prefer a completely silent PC

        https://community.amd.com/t5/gaming/ryzen-7000-series-proces…

    • Yes my MSI AIO M360 makes a low pitch whine. Kinda annoying. Yours doing the same?

      • Yeah, a bit but its not super obvious. I think it's also the case fans adding to the noise

Most of the time im gaming remotely so I don't notice it at least. I've used about 40GB of upload in one day from using Parsec lol.

        • Its not super obvious but it kinda still drove me nuts haha. I figured out that it emits that weird humming when the AIO runs around 40-45%. This is the default fan speeds at idle. I downloaded a fan monitoring software and adjusted the minimum to 50% and theres no more humming now.

  • an update to my 5090 order

    order 04/03
    picked 07/04
    built 16/04
    sent 23/04

    mmmm the anticipation

  • Bit of an old thread now but has anyone had issues with the cooler? Sometimes the temps of the CPU get up to 100deg on idle and I keep having to restart it until it gets to a normal temp. I have a feeling it could be a pump failure.
