Nikon D3100 - Aus Nikon Warranty - Single Lens Kit 18-55 @ Harvey Norman for $439

140

compared couple of prices of the D3100 Australian stock- Found this on Harvey Norman online, called the store and the salesperson said this is not the price that we have on the computer at store level , but will definitely match the price on the online website.
** cheaper than Jb Hi-fi ( even after their 10% discount) but they are happy to match the price ( but could n't beat it)
***ted camera : couldn't match the price not even get closer to it.
Finally got it from harvey Norman.

  • Quite often these harvey norman prices are not Australia wide. I remember once seeing a Canon SLR at a very good price but when I got back to Adelaide they said they didnt have it at that price.

  • I think this is the same price they had this during their 11% off sale just the previous week.

  • Well congratulations you are a pro now, so be careful.

  • i found this. Nikon DSLR D3100 Body only: AUD$239.00 + shipping(about AUD$75.00). which one is cheaper? as i know little about DSLR, i have no idea.

Not really comparable as the site you posted operates from HK and it's likely to be grey import stock (i.e. no official AU warranty support). That and for first time buyers, the body alone is useless without a lens.

  • +1

    Grey import= 1 year warranty
    Body $239 + shipping $75 + the cheapest Nikon 18_55 mm vr lens $108= $422

HN $439 local stock with Nikon 2 year warranty. I will go with Mr Gerry anytime at this price.
    No brainer

Go for local stock, but see if you can get a price match from another store. HN don't deserve a cent until they refund everyone's money.

      • Many years ago, Photo Continental was price matching grey imports. I got really good prices on so many lenses. They've wised up since and so have many retailers. Consider looking at CamerasDirect.com.au if you want local stock at (usually) reasonable prices.

OP, Plz care to share the receipt of purchase for others to price match.

    • +4

No receipt is needed. This is from HN website.

I personally will take D5100 for not much more money for better camera

I agree with theearth that D5100 is a much better camera. I am waiting for a good deal on the twin lens kit (18-55mm + 55-200mm VR kit).

Anyone knows who can beat HN's $769price with AUS warranty ?

        • $762.30 delivered at JB. You will save $6.70…ha ha ha

        • It was $707 the previous week during HN camera sale. Maybe ask them if they can do that price again.

        • I thought the Nikkor 55-300 VR was their standard kit telephoto now? Pity, the extra reach would have been nice bu I guess Nikon didn't want to sway people away from getting a 70-300 VR.

Modern DSLRs have come a long way. Just picked up a 600D the other day and it's such a big improvement over my 350D. Should breath new life into my lens collection (some of which I've hardly used).

Do not buy from harvey norman, they are dodgey as, just use their price and get it elsewhere price matched…

    • I agree. Did anybody notice that after the tablet shenanigans they conveniently had $99 android tablets which alot of consumers would be happy to settle for? I don't know about you guys but it just ticks me off.

      • Can you enlighten me on the "tablet shenanigans" ? What happened ?

    • Or you can go to JB HiFi and pay $8 more without pricematching to "send a message" - they've had the cheaper price for longer than Harvey Norman: http://mildsurprise.com/item.php?item=a287e5a3246dd6dc18346f…
