Was looking around for one of these steam generator irons, came across this one on sale at Appliances Online at $195 delivered. Myer has it at the RRP of $399, tried to price match, but they don't match online prices. It is on backorder at Appliances Online but i called up and their next shipment is this week, so shouldn't be too long of a wait.

Reviews seem alright:

Harvey Norman appears to have had it on sale before for $198 back in May, but they don't appear to stock it anymore. Found a google cached page of the HN webpage for it. Www.harveynorman.com.au/Tefal-gv7096-steam-generator-iron.ht…

Something that converts water to steam.

Thanks for letting me know! Saved me 15 bucks, luckily appliances online did a price match for me on the order i already placed earlier.

No problems. My wife is in the market for a new iron so I have been looking at which one I should buy. Have never used a steam generator iron, but might give it a go.

Um…am I missing something here? $195 for a freaking iron? Gimme this $9.99 unit from Aldi http://aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/2827_24836.htm and ill keep the $185 thanks.

Lol, either you don't do your own ironing, or don't care enough about your clothes. There is a difference between a good iron (not saying that this Tefal is good), and a $9.99 Aldi iron.

whats the difference? they all do the same thing

I own the Tefal 8460. I really like it. I ended up getting the expensive one as the cheaper ones didn't have the Auto off feature which is mandatory when you have a wife like mine. (Unless you like fire or a high electricity bill.)

Best thing is to be able to iron with an insane amount of steam, not be filling the water reservoir every ten minutes and to still have an iron hand piece which is light and nimble to use.

Had it for nearly 2 years now. Going strong. I've tried several cheap irons. Does not compare.
