Wish most laptops had higher capacity batteries. 57Wh new for 16 cores and OLED seems a little underdone, especially after it's had a few cycles over time?

    • Genuine question: The page says it should last up to 19.6 hours. Do you think that’s inaccurate or do you mean to say that’s not long enough? Appreciate it’ll come down to what you do, but if browsing web/ watching videos and using ms office, would it be far off that?

      • +1

Refer to a breakdown review for an accurate answer for battery life.

Imo, this unit won't touch 19hrs, which is maybe a best case like with an idling processor and display turned off, and still with some inflation for marketing purposes. Don't know where this lands south of that say with general use and new out-of-box, but get some cycles into the batt and I think most lappys like this end up with a paltry single digit figure between charges.

        I like to see >80Wh

Nice. Now how about something similar but with the Ryzen 7 8845HS?

    • Amd Ryzen AI 9 H 365 is out in China, 8845HS is now officially last gen.

      • Core Ultra 7 155H is also last gen.

    • I've got the acer swift go 14 with a 8845hs and i must say my biggest issue with it is that the cpu runs mega hot. seems like it tends to happen on most laptops. expect above 90c temps lol

      • Might be worth seeing if you have any power limiting options, either in BIOS or with software. 90° in anything other than prime95 small fft is a bit too hot for my liking

      • Core Ultra would throttle because of heat more than Ryzen 8845HS, assuming they have similar power and cooling.

  • Non OLED and lesser spec from lenovo outlet store;

    https://www.lenovo.com/au/outlet/en/p/laptops/ideapad/ideapa…

    • +1

that is a 16 inch laptop but still looks like a great deal, similar spec to the Dell one posted yesterday

  • igpu can handle cs2?

    • Not at native res. Should be fine @ medium settings 1080P.

  • Does it have a fingerprint scanner? Can't spot it in the specs.

    • Similar models on Lenovo website specifically say "No Fingerprint Reader", oh well

      • +2

No facial recognition either, I assume. That's a pain.

        • the specs above state "FHD 1080p + IR with Privacy Shutter, ToF Sensor camera" so I assume it does have Windows Hello face recognition.

edit: then again, I'm not sure. The OW website doesn't state IR and according to the Lenovo Spec Sheet, it is an option (assuming I have the correct spec sheet: https://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/IdeaPad/IdeaPad_Sli…)

    • If you set up a pin for it, you can unlock it in less than a second.

      • +2

Just like with a phone, it's about convenience and an extra level of security.

        • +1

With a phone, I do prefer to use fingerprint recognition as it saves me from having to precisely touch the small numbers on the screen. I see that this laptop doesn't have a number pad but on a keyboard with number-pad, I can enter my 6 digit PIN in about half a second. Without the number pad, I would just opt for a short password which could be entered in about a second. So a laptop without a fingerprint sensor wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me. Even a phone without one wouldn't be a deal-breaker. I could still enter the PIN in just a couple of seconds using my fat thumb.

Fingerprint would certainly more secure. I don't require the extra security though.

  • 1x HDMI 1.4b
    a bit sad.
my lenovo yoga intel 12th gen, also OLED but 2.1 hdmi and also 2x thunderbolt 4 ports

    • Wow nice catch, 1.4 in 2025 sucks

      • Whats the difference between 1.4b and 2.1 hdmi?

Is there much impact if you just want to hook it up to 1440p 120hz external monitor?

        • +1

          1.4 cant do 4k 60hz

          • @McMaferMur: What if you don't intend to do 4k? and max you'll do is 1440p 120hz

            • @Homr: We can use the usbc instead hdmi and not worry so much about 1.4 or 2.1

              • @McMaferMur: Yes but i hook my laptop up with 2 monitors and i want to have 2 monitors running 120hz

                • @Homr: 2x USB-C (USB 5Gbps / USB 3.2 Gen 1), with USB PD 3.0 and DisplayPort 1.4,

So get a cheap hub that does PD. Then usbc to hdmi adapter maybe.

Friend looking for similiar spec OLED, 32GB 1TB but wants 16"

      • +1

Good price but really want OLED.

        • Not afraid screen burn? It is really superior conpare with non oled?

          • +1

            @McMaferMur: OLED is way better.

            • @matt-ozb: Even for 14-16 inches? For 85" tv i agree

              • +1

@McMaferMur: When i look at laptops at JB, the difference is huge. The OLED laptops are so obvious with their amazing screens.

                • @matt-ozb: i see. thanks.
first i thought it will be huge diff. when watching movies only but i guess web browsing also.
oh well just need to google how to avoid the screen burn for my oled then

        • +1

That 16" laptop has a bad IPS display, Lenovo's ultra-cheap 45% NTSC display. I've no idea why they keep making them.

  • +1

If I wasnt at all concerned with specs except it has to be Oled and 2in1 what’s the cheapest option? Thanks

    • +1

Lenovo yoga i7 intel or amd
      Or this one posted here.
Other brands, not sure. Maybe asus has

Never buying a lenovo ever again. Ordered one during BF sales, it's crashed 4 times in 3 months, requiring a full rebuild, overheated 7 times causing it to shut down and not boot up again for an hour or so…
And lenovo have been far from helpful trying to get it sorted. I will avoid lenovo at all cost.

    • +1

I don’t know if the mobile cpu have the same issues but the 12/13/14th gen desktop ones can have overheating problems. If you’re stuck with it I would recommend updating your bios to fix the microcode and then look at undervolting. This could maybe salvage what’s left.

      • -2

not willing to "salvage" a computer that is less than 5 months old. It should be fine for the next 2 years

        • +2

I just meant if Lenovo arent helping you out and you are stuck with it, the above is something you could do that will help the situation. Undervolting can dramatically reduce CPU heat.

    • -2

you can't neg a deal for this reason. I need to report your post to the mods.

can you find a better deal?

  • This or the core ultra5 ?? also ram is 16GB and hard disc is 512GB, For home use.

    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/lenovo-ide…

    • +1

If you can justify the spend OP's one is $300 more, but has twice the RAM, SSD, faster CPU/GPU.

Both are fine for basic use, but OP's one will be faster and more future proof.

      • Mine is just for home use, but I wanted future-proof, I want the laptop to last longer even though the use case is small.

        • If you have dozens of browser tabs open and spotify playing and email clients running and notepad open and excel and word open, then get the laptop in this deal. Otherwise, the one you linked should last you many years. The laptop from your link is also very good.

  • I do like the convenience of Fingerprint that this device is lacking, hoping IR is the next best thing. The specs from OP suggests IR is included however the OfficeWorks website states "1080p FHD". Has anyone purchased one of these and can confirm if IR (for Windows Hello) is included?

    • For anyone interested, Officeworks confirmed, "Yes, this IdeaPad Slim 5i features an FHD, 1080p camera + IR with a privacy shutter." You can find this in their Q+A section.
This device truly is a bargain! Regrettably I didn't wait for OW to answer, ended up ordering non-OLED https://emporiumelectronics.com.au/lenovo-thinkpad-e14-gen-6… instead. Now I'm trying to internally justify having made the right choice 😕
Thanks OP for this great find (encouraged me to upgrade) and Officeworks for what I consider a genuinely great bargain (OLED and 155H chip - wow).

  • went to Officeworks North Ryde but stocks not there and also staff could not take orders as its not there anywhere in NSW :(
