AmEx Qantas Frequent Flyer Number Query

Hi,

I've signed my dad up for AMEX Qantas for the 100,000 points but I've used my own Qantas Frequent Flyer number when applying. Will this not earn me points if the $5,000 is spent? If not, am I able to transfer by opening an Qantas Frequent Flyer in his own name and thus earning the 100,000 points?

Thanks in advance.

This probably violates their terms and conditions.

I have no idea if it would go through or not. If it's against the terms they might just refuse to credit any points. You would be able to tell after the first month if any points show up in your Qantas account. I'd probably not risk it though.

Yes you can do a family transfer to move points he's earned in his frequent flyer account to yours. Is he happy to give you all the points (and pay the $450 fee)?

Is he aware you signed him up?

No, the frequent flyer number must match the name on the account. You will have to call them to switch to your days FF number.

  • Is this identity fraud?

I would be calling getting your dad to call them and let them know the computer accidentally auto-filled his son's QFF number and get it fixed quick. He can just transfer the points to you after he gets them if necessary.
