These are the other two conditions from the instore flyer to note (words to the effect):

2. Offer is only applicable to food from the restaurant and not from the bistro or Swedish food market, also food must be consumed on premises (Ie no takeaway)

Why not buy $99 worth of food and get the furniture free?

    • That's what your suppose to do to maximise your benefit.

    • -4

In that case it's free only if the furniture is exactly $99. More than that you have to pay the difference.

      • +2

Correction: 'More than that, you eat more'

        • Your savings will not exceed 50%.

        • Where does it say that?

        • +1

Where does it say what? Not sure if you are replying to Bargainhunter2 or me. But since you can only discount up to your restaurant purchase, the maximum saving percentage is when your restaurant spend equals your store spend.

  • -4

Good bargain, if you are willing to spend $99…the food is expensive but yummy!

    • +4

It's $6-10 a plate. That's pretty much in line with every college, hospital etc cafeteria and the food is better than most. How is that expensive?

      • It's been a while since I went, I'll retract that statement.

  • If your planning to buy big ticket items, invite family and friends, basically free food up to the value of your sofa, bed, whatever lol

    • Looks to only be valid at Tempe :(

      • Damn, I could go some Swedish meatballs at ikea Springvale. Last time this deal ran, no min $$ spend.

  • The T&C link doesn't work? Just takes me to the landing page?

    • +2

I noticed. Added two other relevant t&c from the instore flyer, see above

      • You are good man!

what's the procedure? eat first and then go shopping and show your eating receipt when you check out?

also confused about the starting date cause it says start from 4th and Thursday but 4th is a Friday so does it mean the first valid date for this EYD is 10th of Jan?

        • what's the procedure? eat first and then go shopping and show your eating receipt when you check out?

Eating or shopping first doesn't matter, just as long as you have your meal receipt when checking out and it's the same day. But as your purchases may be bulky, restaurant patrons would appreciate it if you shop after in that case.

PS: Remember to put the restaurant spend on one receipt only.

        • Thanks!

    What is Tempe?

    • +2

Tempe is in Sydney (8km southwest from sydney on Princes Highway)

      • +2

Thought it's a type of food. Ha

    • thought it was Templestowe

  • It's been an ongoing discount for months - every Thursday :-)

  • i would like to know how the swedish crayfish party went?

  • Annoying that the Ts&Cs link doesn't work. So do I have this figured out correctly: that this deal is good if you want to eat there but doesn't actually equal cheaper furniture if that's what you're after because you've payed what's being discounted at the restaurant anyway?

    • +1

That's right, think of it as a free meal up to the value of your furniture purchase and provided you buy $99 or more.

    • Yes, but now your not hungry.

  • -6

Ikea food is overpriced and you have to sit on an uncomfortable wooden chair and eat on a dirty table that get cleaned only once a day. You get a free coffee though and that is the only good thing about their cafetarium.

    • young teens…ugh

  • That's a lot of $1 hot dogs.

    • The bistro is not included in this offer.

    • Bistro food (hotdogs) not included in this deal as per t&c

      • Every time I go to ikea, I have a snack at the resteraunt, when I'm done shopping I get to the bistro and I'm not hungry, been ten times and still not had a hot dog :(

    • It is hard for me to eat up 99 pieces of HOTDOGS….

What the hell is with everyone saying ikea food is expensive? I know we're on ozbargain but didn't realise everybody lived on 2 minute noodles and expected that kind of price for all their meals.

    • -1

you can make me 2 minute noodles anytime, reeeooowwww

  • -3

No waiters, no busboys, and they expect you take the dishes to the conveyer belt after you finish eating and clean up your table afterwards. And they call it r-e-s-t-a-u-r-a-n-t ? They sell danish pastries for $2.50 and you call it cheap? I better go to nearest cafe for better food and support local business at least they dont expect you to clean up the table.

  • I wonder how many OzBargainers will be waiting at the cash registers waiting to help big spenders do their good deed for the day.

The computer systems engineer furnishing his living room ends up living like a rock star for a day :)

    EDIT: I wasn't alluding to this: http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2012/09/are-developers-the-new-…

  • If there is no limit to spend, theoretically can I buy all of their water bottles at approx. $3, sell for $2 = $1 loss. $1 loss x 1000 bottles = $1000. Buy $3000 couch - $1000 loss = $2000 ozbargain saving?????

Wait im in melb….woe is me

EDIT: Just read T&C, must be consumed on premise within the day. hahahaha

    • +1

I would hate to be your bladder.

  • Doh just missed out and went yesterday… although in saying that got 2 x $3 meal (after 3pm) which consisted of 10 x meatballs, mash and sauces. It is strange that they only advertise the $3 meal after 3pm downstairs before the restaurant - had to ask what was on offer. It is a choice of the meatballs, schnitzel and I think some vegetable pattie.

    • If you haven't opened your goods, they'll accept refund within 90days. Return the stuff at the next available Thursday and repurchase to make use of this deal ;)

Unless ofcourse your items were on sale, in which case they may not be next time, or it's just too bulky and too much hassle to drive back.

  • Can anyone clarify if this is on today. Most of the website says "4th of Jan" but Today is Thursday the 3rd…

    • Was confused by that as well but it works fine today.
