  • FWD Ebike? Huh. That'd make for some interesting riding.

    • +3

As long as you are on a sealed road, it feels no different to a RWD, like cars.
But it is not good on a rough dirt track.
Of course if you are doing a lot of off-road, get a mid-drive.

  • Do these bikes comply with the new regulations just introduced in NSW?

    • +4

Lekker Bikes are straight from Europe, one of the most highly regulated areas on earth. They won’t have a problem with this, they use top tier components and meet all current regulations.

The cheap Chinese knock offs will be the problem. Not the premium brands.

      • I thought Bafang was the cheap Chinese brand?!

  • I really wish these Lekker bikes had mid-drive motors.

    • id recommend bafang bbs02 + used bike. might not look as good but a lot cheaper and easier to repair.

my middrive ebike motor died recently on a giant brand ebike and got absolutely no help from retailer (just out of warranty).

Tell that that, under ACL, you are actually entitled to coverage for a 'reasonable amount of time' for an expensive product. Get the dog up em.

  • I had a Lekker - the Outback. Very stylish, but once you hit 25kmph, it felt like a heavy, stylish slug.

All ebikes are legally required to cut out assistance at 25km/h. Go over that and you're doing all the work yourself so it's naturally going to feel much more sluggish.

    • That's by design, as are all legal ebikes

Use coupon code COMEBACK50 for $50 off, bringing the price down to $2,298 (ex. delivery).

  • Spec wise the lynx and Falcon 3 from 99 bikes are better and similar price, especially with mid drive motor.

  • The motor is 250w. Probably not powerful enough for Sydney north shore.

    • That's all your allowed on NSW public roads

      • There is 250w and there is 250w though. 45Nm on this one compared to 85-100Nm on Bosch, Shimano and DJI systems.

        • Torque and wattage are two very different things. Ecumgo only mentioned the wattage being the problem, which as mentioned is the max you are legally allowed on public roads.

          • @whitepuma: Yeah that's what I'm getting at.

The companies selling bikes with 85nm and more peak way higher than 250w.

My Shimano EP8 is 500, the EP801 is 600w. The new amflow is 800w with 1000w at the press of a button for 30 seconds. It's still rated to 250w continuous though so it's legal.
