  • Another christmas crazy deal from onlinecomputer.com.au

  • lol for amoment i thought ti was for $199 LOL!

    • :) i will buy 10 unit if $199. hehe..

  • acer never gave me my cashback on their earlier promo. I wouldn't buy anything from them on the basis of a cashback. scammers.

    • Really? It's so strange. One of my friend buy Acer monitor couple month ago and he got cashback(around 3 month after purchasing). Maybe you can call or email the acer person.

      • I've always received mine from acer. Cashback from a monitor and a AcerONE over the last 2 years. It does take a month or two but once they send you the email saying they've received your letter, they tell you a date when you can expect to receive the check. Usually its pretty spot on. If you never got that email they never received/processed the documents you sent them… Try calling them up instead of waiting for it to magically fix itself…..

  • Acer is a brand from Taiwan.
    Checked the following product page
    http://shopping.pchome.com.tw/?mod=item&func=exhibit&IT_NO=D…

It is selling $34900 TWD, which is equivalent to $1586 AUD at the moment.
So I would say this is a very good offer, $1188 after $199 cashback.

BTW, searchweb, I was about to post this deal but you were ahead of me. Oh well…. Merry Xmas :)

    • Merry Xmas too :)

    • tg = i thinks it's different model with this one http://shopping.pchome.com.tw/?mod=item&func=exhibit&IT_NO=D…. The taiwan (ACER Aspire 6930G-732G32) with Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 2.0GHz, 2GB DDRII, 320G, nVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS. The online computer offer (Acer 6930G-863G32) with Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 2.4Ghz, NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS 512MB, 320GB HDD, 3GB RAM. This one is very good offer(i agree with you) with higher graphic cards, bigger storage, faster processor & memory. +1 from me

      • Sorry, I meant this one
        http://shopping.pchome.com.tw/?mod=item&func=exhibit&IT_NO=D…

It is selling for $49900 TWD ($2268 AUD).
We can get it for $1387 (with possible $199 cashback).
The one sold in Taiwan is just 1GB more RAM than the one sold here, everything else is the same.
        $2268 - $1387 = $881 for 1GB ram?
It is definitely cheaper here than buying from overseas.

  • Where's the link to the cashback site?

  • -1 for cashback. The deal is actually $1387 and maybe just maybe you'll get $199 back in a few months.

Anecdotes like "I always get my cashbacks" are worthless, because there are just as many people who never see the cashback.

    • I purchased an Acer laptop for $480 and still got my $89 cash back earlier this year. You just have to follow the instructions, ie make sure you send in all required documents within 14 days. It took a while (about 8 weeks) but I got my cheque. So ended up with a very usable laptop for $391, pretty good in my book. I then sold it 6 months later for $350, not bad it cost me $6.8/month cheaper than renting.

      • just out of curiosity why did you sell it? this is the basic 15.4" acer laptop, right? I ask, because it came down to that one and my compaq and they had the same specs and within $50 of each other… i choose the compaq, because its a hp product and it looked nicer (IMO) :)

        • nah it was the 14.1 in model. Very nice too. I only bought it because it looked like it would work with OSX86, but alas it was too much mucking around to get wireless and webcam working, so I punted it. Nothing wrong with it at all running Ubuntu Linux or Windows XP/Vista

          • @BlinkyBill: yea my audio jacks wont work with OSx86… i wish theyy did, coz macs are too expensive, but mac os is nice…. lol

    • I have only purchased 2 things with cashbacks, both times i got them! my lexmark printer ($20 cashback, $29 after cashback) and my compaq presario laptop ($150 cashback, $424 after cashback). Both times took about 3 months, but even if that money was sitting in my account it would have only earned a few dollars in interest anyways…

my tip with cash backs is probably not to buy the product online (not like this one, but that is a personal thing, i never buy electronics from a online ONLY dealer), but to use a recognized store (like harvey norman, or jb hi fi) and keep copies of EVERYTHING you send with date u sent them, also print any emails received etc.. i kept it all in a folder for both items, although i must have been lucky, as both times i didn't need to contact them or anything… the money just went into my account.

    • nhand42 = $2268 - $1387 = $881 (according tg) with $199 cashback. What you need anymore? This deal save $1080.

  • Not a bad deal but my experience with Acer laptops are that they have really bad battery life. I wonder if they've made any improvements in that front..

    • what is bad battery life to you? I had only ever used macbooks, until i purchased my current laptop and it gets about 1.5 hours with wireless on and full brightness, and i was soooooo angry, then i was told by other people thats good for a windows laptop? (btw i am not an apple fan boy, so plz dont say so, jks)

  • Not a bad deal… however I just bought this laptop through MLN, http://www.mln.com.au/product/?itemID=367&typeID=23
my one comes with 3yr warranty… best 17" specs for under $1500 I have come across so far (postage was only $29 which included postage insurance). I believe there are only a few left so if your keen, get in quick!!…

  • pfft acer its gonna last 12 months MAX

    • Well lucky it came with a 3yr warranty…

  • Got an Acer lappy here.. had it for about 5 years and it has not had an easy life.. still works like new. Neighbour has same model and treats his like he hates it and it is the same.
Would have another Acer tomorrow no probs.
Comments like.. "pfft acer its gonna last 12 months MAX" are pure rubbish.
Acer has had some bad feedback re cashback.
