It’s the dual boiler worth it?

    • I upgraded from the bambino plus to the dual boiler and yes it's worth it

I down graded from the dual boiler and don't regret it. Takes up way less bench space, only make 2 coffees a day.

As reflected in the comments below, it really depends on your use case. This machine is usable 4s after turning it on. It's a huge plus. Dual boilers take much, much longer to heat up and use a lot more energy to do so.

If you're making 2-4 coffees a day I think this machine is perfect for the vast majority of people.

      • Both comments above very valid. Bigger is not always better (in certain ways of course).

    • TIL people turn their machines off…
(Ok so do I but it's on a timer so runs from 7-3 every day)

Got one of these, its the bees knees for steaming hot chocolate while keeping a good form factor

    • +4

Mate. Load up on the hot choccies and you definitely won't be keepin" a good form factor. 😂

      • I put cream in my coffees, that's probably even worse.

The Plus for $496 is a MUCH better deal, and machine. Spend the little more and get the Plus model!
Oh, and this is fairly standard pricing, available on special from various retailers at various times.

Conversely I would take the og over the Plus regardless of price.

Much prefer the steam wand on the og - it's more manoeuvrable (the Plus is only up/down) and you can get a 3 hole tip for about $15 to match the Plus. Most people can steam better than the auto frother after a few attempts as well.

3 way solenoid is useful but not totally necessary. Use a puck screen for firm pucks and leave the PF in the group for a minute while you're preparing milk.

All personal preference though of course.

    • Why is the Plus a better deal? I don’t see a big difference in terms of features.

        Breville Bambino:
        * Manual Steaming: Requires manual milk frothing, which involves learning how to properly texture milk and control temperature.
        * Single-Hole Steam Wand: Has a single-hole steam wand.
        * Smaller Water Tank: Has a smaller water tank compared to the Bambino Plus.

        Breville Bambino Plus:
        * Automatic Steaming: Features an automatic milk steaming wand with three temperature and foam settings, as well as automatic cleaning after every use.
        * Three-Hole Steam Wand: Has a three-hole steam wand for improved manual steaming.
        * Automatic Temperature and Texture Control: Provides automatic temperature and texture control for milk frothing.
        * Larger Water Tank: Has a larger water tank.
        * Solenoid Valve: Includes a solenoid valve for pressure release.

For me the $120 extra for automatic steaming with adjustable temp/texture, self-cleaning steam wand, and solenoid valve are well worth it. Much more consistent and cleaner when creating coffees.

  • What beans/ground does everyone use?

    • +14

I usually use coffee beans in mine.

    • Freshly roasted. There is no substitute. You should either use them within 2 weeks of roasting, or package them carefully and put them in the freezer until you're ready to use them. Personally, I think they taste the best in the 1st week after roasting.

    • Pretty much Inglewood exclusively

  • I own one of these. Fast warm up and compact size are the big wins. Price is OK.
