    • Sorry no idea about Optus. The experience with the different telco depends on your location. Telstra and Boost are better for me than Optus or Vodafone.

I've not used JB Hi-Fi Mobile from Telstra. I'm with the original Telstra prepaid which may be prioritised over JB Hi-Fi Mobile and Boost Mobile in congested areas. There are anecdotal reports of Telstra prioritising emergency services, then Telstra business customers, then Telstra postpaid customers, then Telstra prepaid customers and then Boost prepaid customers. I've tried a phone with a Telstra business account and the download speeds were about 4 times that of my Telstra prepaid. The business phone is an older phone too.

  • Trying to signup for my wife who doesn't have a passport or driver's licence yet but has a NSW Photo Card - no luck. Crazy Boost doesn't accept any other form of IDs.

      • She has Medicare but when signing up the only options provided are "Passport" and "Driver's Licence". Where's the option to buy without any ID or with something else like Medicare?

          • @trixieb: Yep, I followed the correct steps. It seems that buying online isn't possible without a passport or driver's licence.

            • @UrbanLegend: Thanks for the video. Sorry I missed seeing the ID check on the page. Unfortunately you can't use your wife's details to buy without one of those documents. I had bought a similar SIM from Telstra before that didn't have ID check and delivered to my letter box. Probably a mistake.

My SIM starter pack was delivered today - fastest I've ever received an item from order to delivery.

    • +1

I'm in Perth and Boost has been delivered in 1-2 business days in the last few months.

  • I have boost $300 SIM plan expired yesterday. How do I purchase any other provide plan to port out (I cant wait for SMI to arrive later , because I would be without phone otherwise today)? and then when I port back to boost will they send me the new SIM card again?

    • You can buy one of these discounted 28/30-day SIM cards to port out to:

      • Lebara $7 / $10 or Amaysim $10 from Coles.

      • Amaysim $10 (includes eSIM) from Woolworths.

You can then port back into Boost within 30 days of Boost purchase for cashback. You can buy the Boost SIM now and then activate/port into in 30 days. Boost SIM delivery recently has been about 1-2 business days for metro areas.

  • I have just purchased this. Can I get a $2 Boost SIM from Coles and use this to activate it, or do I need to wait for the SIM card they send me? I'm assuming I'll just have to wait, as I'd imagine what I paid for is linked to the serial of the SIM they are sending out.

You have to wait for the Boost SIM to arrive and activate it then. Delivery to metro locations have been about 1-2 business days.

      • thank you for that. I have one other question that you may know the answer for. I am currently on a $2 telstra prepaid SIM (since this arvo). My idea is to port it to the Boost SIM when received. However, I can't find anywhere that tells me how long this $2 telstra service lasts before expiry. It's receiving SMS without issue so far (which is all I need it for for the time being). I'll recharge if I need to, but not sure if I do. Cheers.

  • Boost is driving me crazy. tried different minor errors in address and different emails & cards. still "Sorry, we are unable process your order. Please try again later."

    • Same..tried yesterday numerous times and just now and get same stupid error

      • +1

it's bloody embarrassing, even most 3rd world countries with maturing IT systems could get this right. Never in my lifetime had I tried to pay this many times and failed each time - Telstra interns must be taking the cake

  • Same here. It just won’t allow no matter what details i change…

  • Anyone had luck 🍀?

    • +4

Changing the payment card finally worked for me

      • Do you mind me asking which bank did you succeed with? I've tried a couple different ones and still no luck

  • +1

After sharing the exact same frustrations over the last 2 days and failing repeatedly with a Mastercard and a visa credit card I have finally succeeded using a Commonwealth Bank debit card. Thanks to relicsinner for their suggestion.

    • Cheers used my CBA debit card and order finally went through!

    • +1

Thanks for the tip on debit card, I'd tried a few different credit cards and it wasn't working. NAB visa debit worked for me in the end

    • Passport ID + manual address entry and CBA MasterCard debit card worked for me.

      • +1

Tried this and it didn't work for me :'(. I've tried swapping between license/passport, auto and manual address and an Up, ING and CBA debit card. Customer service told me it's a known issue and to give it 24-48 hrs because they're "working on it".

        • Lol when I called they said its because of traffic and said he would raise with IT but said he said the issue is isolated to me. I asked him to look up this thread and see how many people are having issues.

  • Can confirm also that Mastercard (Westpac) kept failing since deal was posted and tried a number of times each day.
Changed to VISA (NAB) and worked right away today.

  • Tried CBA Mastercard and Macquarie Debit card. Nothing works. Very annoying.
Edit: Used Topcashback mobile app and that did the trick.

  • +1

Managed to buy one on desktop / Chrome. Tried 3 more times with exact same details , didnt work. Tried to change delivery address / ID / debit card etc. and tried mobile app too still same error. Their IT systems are pretty shit.
When I called Boost, they said its because of too many people ordering which doesnt seem true - they just dont want to help.

    • Boost definitely just making stuff up. I've now heard:

      • Technical issue on our end, we'll fix it
      • Out of stock
      • Too many people ordering
