Glad I got them yesterday to save $5 :)

    • Well done :)

I'm getting "Sorry, something went wrong" after placing the order :/

  • +1

    SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG

Keep getting this message, have tried different email addresses and contact numbers. Any ideas what might be causing this?

    • Try a different credit or debit card.

      • Tried 3 x different cards already, throws the same error.

        • Same here, the only thing that worked was buying in my partner’s name. I tried changing minor details and identification methods. In the end I bought in my wife’s name and when it arrives, I’ll activate with my details.

    • I had same thing a week ago, I changed from my VIC drivers licence verification and used my passport instead and used a different residential address changing these two things worked for me. not sure what the actual error trigger was.

SIM card also delivered in two/three days via StarTrack was super fast to inner suburbs Melbourne.

    • +1

Thank you, some of those suggestions worked. I tried it on my mobile instead and also changed the browser. Used Passport as an ID instead of Drivers License. Also typed everything manually and didn't rely on Auto-fill. So one of those combinations seem to have worked. Thank you.

      • Great to hear 😀

    • For me changing from CC to DB worked yesterday, but I need one more.

  • +1

I contact them about this message for the previous deal. They said it was a technical issue on their end. They advised me to try again after 24 hours, presumably they'd fix the issue in the meantime. I ended up missing that deal due to that, surprised people are experiencing this again.

    • +3

I think this is an ongoing issue with their system. It's not the first time. I signed up after jumping through hoops to get my order through. Their system is a PoS, its quite embarrassing considering they part of Telstra

  • So when will this "new" promo expire?

    • +1

When Boost promo expires on 7th April 11:59pm AEST. Expiry date is in the post, underneath the "Referral Links".

      • nice, my wife's plan will expire in July so, can she still buy the sim on the last promo date? or does it need to be activated by 7th April?

        • SIM must be activated within 30 days of purchase for cashback. If you bought on 7th April, then it would have to be activated by 7th May.

          • @trixieb: same with if you buy it on the last day 7 July, need to activate by 6th August true?

            • @angelkulit025: Yes. This offer ends on 7th April. There seem to be regular offers and there could be another offer in July.

  • +1

So if you're on telstra post-paid already, and want to keep your number, what's the process to switch over to this/boost?

    • This was me two months ago. I transferred all my Telstra Plus points to date to a family member so they wouldn't be wasted (as it was my only Telstra service). Ordered the SIM as a new customer, activated it as per instructions and as you'd normally change SIMs.

      • Sorry, so you're saying you were able to activate, retain your phone number without using an intermediate sim card using these?

        • Yes. Surprisingly painless.

On the other hand, transferring a family member who had an existing Telstra account for land line/internet etc (but whose mobile number was on Optus) to Boost was an ordeal. We couldn't activate as the last step of entering contact details, the site said the user already existed and to go to the local Telstra shop (ie no call or chat option) to fix.

Once there, the Telstra staff were able to sort it but then were told to wait until the Optus service icon on our phone indicated no service (ie no bars) before swapping the SIM. Hours later we still had Optus service - what we didn't realise was that even after the number ports, a "de-ported" Optus prepaid SIM still shows service (ie bars) even though you can't make calls etc.

You're better off continously trying to use cell and internet on the Optus sim and when it stops working, you know to swap in the Boost SIM.

Given the dramas, I would definitely do your port first thing on a weekday morning, and be prepared for a potential visit to the Telstra shop. You may have no issues, but if there's even a chance of the "customer already exists" issues, you want to be ready!

  • Finally, the price is right

  • Can somebody please point me to the cheapest optus SIM to portout and port back in? And if somebody have posted steps somewhere, a link to that would be helpful.

    • Why optus sim? Why not Aldi $2 sim, or vodafone $2 sim or various others

      • Probaly need a credit on sim to send message when porting out.

      • Any sim as long it works, will 2$ sim be enough? should I top it later to activate or something before porting out?

    • If you don’t mind Vodafone network then maybe this Lyca sim for 20gb 28 days expiry for $6

      https://www.lycamobile.com.au/en/bundle/unlimited-20/?utm_so…

  • A few have mentioned the telstra $2 works for porting out and back in even when they currently with boost; boost>telstra>boost. Will be trying it next week. Those who have tried please confirm.

    • Confirmed here.

    • I was on boost $290 annual sim plan. So bought optus 28 days prepaid sim for $10 from coles..ported on it and after 24 days will port back on boost..bought boost sim few days back from $65 CB offer

  • Just for variety, I got: "Sorry, we are unable process your order. Please try again later." Changing form DL to passport didn't make a difference

    • Please see the comments here.

      • +2

Thanks - for me, the manual address entry made it work ie I selected "Can't find my address" and then manually entered my address.

Seriously though, this is pretty bad form even for a budget reseller - they've almost certainly lost sales because of these system problems.

        • Couldn't agree more and yes they did.

  • I regret buying a $230 voucher back in October 2024 to use in April 2026.

    • +1

Why the regret? Or are you flexing?

      • This is $195 after cash back for 12 months service and I assumed more data. It’s definitely regret.

  • For credit card issue..you use commbank debit card..it worked for me

  • Incredible, still not working. Used a variation of my name, different mobile, different email, manual address, passport instead of DL, card that's not been used for Boost before. Still no luck.

    • Perhaps you can try again in a few days as the offer ends on 7th April.

      • Appreciate the reply. Coincidently I have tried both NAB Visa credit card and Westpac debit Mastercard (both failed). I can try a browser but always worried about tracking.

        • +1

Chrome browser usually works well with cashback tracking and mentioned quite often here. All the best.

  • Boost is now telling me the issue is occurring because the SIM is out of stock.

  • bought this bad boy last night
how long does it take to post out? to metro qld?
confirming also whilst im overseas if im connected to WiFi i can make calls and receive calls back to Oz via WiFi-Calling at no charge (from my iPhone)

  • Do they mail the SIM card with “signature required” service or require ID verification upon delivery?

I’m currently overseas til the end of the month, I’m hoping the postie can drop it in my mailbox or allow anyone at home to sign for the parcel instead of redirecting to the post office

    • When taking delivery of your purchase, you'll need to show the same ID you used in your order - for security reasons.

The latter. The SIM is usually delivered in 1-2 business days to metro locations. You can buy under another person's name and details but activate using your name and details when you return from overseas. For cashback, SIM must be activated within 30 days of purchase.

Please note that at the time of purchase, you will need to provide details of the buyer's ID which is one of the two - Aus driver's licence or Aus passport. Please see here.

Someone couldn't buy a Boost SIM when they were overseas.

  • I had massive issues trying to pay with both my CBA Mastercard and then some other debit cards. I eventually got a couple of different debit cards to work.

The next day I got emails from CBA saying a $0.00 charge failed because I had international transactions blocked.

Too late for me but perhaps something for others to try. Temporarily allow international transactions if you have them blocked before buying and see how you go.

Let us know if you try it with Credit card and it works. Good luck.

Holy mother of christ, I'm never touching Boost again this has been such a gigantic s-show.

After 4 days of trying literally everything in these threads (plus 2 support chats), I get promised by support that if I go out and physically buy the sim they'll refund me the $45 difference. So I miss out on the cashback but at least I get the discount.

Off I go like an idiot to buy my sim, try to activate and get "Something went wrong". Twice. Jfc. Message support for a THIRD TIME, they say they'll activate it for me. Confirm my details and that I want to keep my number. Easy. Get an email 5 mins later saying "here's your new number".

I ask what's going on, they say "oh wait a minute did you need to port in?" I said yes, they said oh sorry we needed to do a port in not a reactivation. And here's the best bit:

They ask me to go out and BUY A NEW $2 SIM so they can port in my number.

I refuse, remind them of the prior chat where I was promised a refund for having to go and buy it myself in the first place and they claim that conversation was regarding activating a new sim rather than porting in. I tell them I have screenshots that prove that isn't true, and ask to be transferred to a manager. They message me back, ignore the screenshot thing and the manager request then tell me if I go buy a sim they'll throw in 50gb of data. I ask for manager again, they ignore it again and instead practically beg me to just go buy a sim.

I cannot emphasise how clear and polite I have been this entire chat, like I get you don't want to be disciplined but this is insane. Third manager request was 30 mins ago now lol.

TLDR: Boost screwed up my activation, failed to port my number, told me to go buy a new sim to fix it, lied to me about a chat history and ignored my manager request twice. The chat has been going for nearly 2 hrs at this point. Cool.

      Sorry to hear.

I've a similar 12-month SIM with Telstra. Telstra was able to port in and out (within Telstra) from giving me a new number and back to my existing number. I had to repeat a few times and get the right person to do it. Not all staff are capable. It may be possible with Boost without buying a new $2 SIM.

I needed help with activating a 28-day Boost SIM a few months ago and encountered issues with staff communication. I also had to buy a $2 Boost SIM card as suggested by Boost. Had contacted Boost several times as they stuffed up the activation and it was fixed in the end.

I would suggest to try and sort out with a manager when you get one. Otherwise lodge a complaint with TIO, https://www.tio.com.au/ Good luck!

      • +1

Thanks for the solidarity and sorry to hear you've experienced the circus too.

So whole convo took 4 hours in the end and I had to ask 6 times over 2 hours to finally be forwarded to someone in charge. She confirmed I needed to get the sim and offered a discount.

Honestly it wasn't even the fact they messed up the port in, or that I now have to go get yet another sim. It was the 2 hours of being ignored or outright lied to before I could at least hear it from someone in charge so I knew it was accurate and not the agent trying to self preserve their KPIs.

Anyway for anyone reading, save your CS chats and if you value customer service Boost may not be for you.

        • Hope you receive the discount and existing number back when you get the $2 SIM.

The overseas call centre customer service from Boost tends to be substandard and they may not be familiar with the product or language. I've had some Aussie customer agents on the phone with Telstra and they were a lot easier to deal with than Boost or Telstra overseas call centre agents.

Lyca customer service is probably worse than Boost. I would advise to avoid Lyca for your next SIM. Amaysim customer service seems better and can recommend. I've used them for a spare phone. Haven't used Lebara etc.

I had a worse experience with iiNet NBN and had to complain to TIO before I got anywhere. Was without internet for a few months and still charged. I've left iiNet recently. They have mobile plans as well.

          All the best!

  • Gonna have to neg this. Have tried literally everything; phone app, Chrome browser, and I don't know how many permutations of name, address, phone number, bank card, email, ID. All failed. And Boost keeps giving varying explanations on the cause of the problem, so they're either lying or don't know what they're doing.

And presumably Topcashback have some sort of deal with Boost on this? They should look into this.

    • +1

Their support agents have to be the worst and most incompetent people I've ever dealt with. I left them 1/5 review out of frustration:
      https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/ba55f403-869c-5b74-…

I had a call with Telstra case manager, she presumably refunded me the money, I'm still waiting to see if thats true. I'm crossing my fingers that I won't need their support anytime soon.

      • +1

Sorry to hear. Hope it's refunded as promised.

Boost responded, in your link. They can deactivate the SIM after posting out.

        • Yea I reached out to that email, no response.

  • Would cash back be eligible for renew?

    • No, this offer is not for recharge. To get the cashback, you would have to port out of Boost and port back in. Please see the comments here on porting.

      • Thank you trixieb. If I port out and port in, do I need to wait until boost sim arrive or I will receive activation voucher straight away and can use esim

        • Please note the T&Cs (also in the post description):

Cashback is ineligible on eSIMs, recharges, phones, bundles, accessories.

For cashback, you would have to buy the physical SIM (not eSIM). Wait for the physical SIM to arrive. Delivery to metro locations has been about 1-2 business days. Activate the physical SIM first and then you can convert to eSIM.

  • I can confirm that entering address manually works. If you sre having credit card issue.

  • I was getting the same issue ("SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG"). After trying a few times I then got a different error and checking the network traffic it was being flagged as fraud (i guess from trying too many times).

I tried again at work so that it was coming from a different connection, same error. Change from my Citibank Credit Card to BankWest Debit card and it went through. Definitely seems to not like certain credit cards.
