I have been trying to buy a widely advertised item on Ebay since Monday expecting to get delivery by Friday.
Needing some clarification, I asked for a little further information but no answer. One idiot did say "as per Specifications"
This has happened four times now.
Facebook Marketplace is a minefield, but at least, you can just dismiss scammers.
But it looks like Scammers are Ebay's core business now.
Is Ebay's time up?
Is eBay Just an out of Control Front End for Dropships?

Check the store's location, many will say China (but it's there if you go looking)
Yeah, I’ve noticed the store’s location is usually accurate in the store profile's ‘About’ tab. When it’s not, you can usually tell from the feedback - people complaining about slow shipping even though the store’s supposed to be local.
I suspect some are drop shipping from China to an Australian employee is repackages it and sends it with Australia Post. Oh boy do they love to claim they use Australia Post.
Again though, this kind of stuff is usually reflected in feedback. If you're about to buy from a store that has a 99.2% feedback score, check to see what the 0.8% are saying. If they're complaining about long shipping times, you can assume they're drop shipping.
I've seen feedback like that many times.
Whats the item?
Can get it cheaper on Ali Express and most probably from same place and same seller.
Item isn't important, and I wanted 2-3 day delivery, so aliexpress and alibaba are out, or at least they would have been if I had known eBay was so pathetic
All were supposedly Australia delivery, but I doubt it I assume there is no way of identicying drop ship ads. I have noticed before that some have odd Ship from placesItem isn't important
Kinda is. Are we talking about a charger or are we talking about a WiFi access point?
I ordered some trailer marker lights on the weekend, and they arrived today. I've got a few other things from the weekend arriving this weekend.
I've ordered a lot of networking equipment and had it within 1 to 2 days.
I think it all depends on the seller. I've had good experiences overall with most things but there are some clear drop shippers.
Mechanical carpenters tool. No eectronics
That doesn't sound like a "widely advertised item"
Amazon Prime if you want it same/next day.
That's why I rarely purchase on Ebay anymore and haven't had ebay plus in a long time. Not really a scam, just may as well save 50% and purchase from aliexpress myself.
Yep - and a big reason eBay going down the crapper imo.
I mean, it did that 10 years ago, nothing has really changed lately in that respect..
Do you even know what a scammer is?
If delivery is late then claim the item for refund. It's not hard to play it to your advantage.
Go shop on Facebook marketplace and then come back next week how you really got scammed.
Yes obviously, but you sound surprised about it?
Its been that way since they raised the fees and made it extremely difficult and prohibitive for small sellers over 10 years ago. Definitely nothing new.
Small sellers with their $50 in fees per month are worthless when they can just have a few Chinese mega sellers with $100k revenue each and not have to support them with a miriad of small annoying questions about how to list something.
I find eBay useful to find collectables or 2nd hand goods.
I sell on eBay. 3800+ sales so far. Everything I have is in stock and shipped the next day.
Yes, drop shippers are annoying. If I want a cheap item now I always buy from sellers who state the item is in stock in Australia. Most of the time they're not lying.
I found a telltale sign you got a package from a drop shipper is the return address is in Chullora.
state the item is in stock in Australia. Most of the time they're not lying.
Not necessarily my experience. But I am sometimes pleasantly surprised.
If the listing says that they ship from multiple warehouses or they'll ship from somewhere else if their "local warehouse is out of stock", it's just a drop shipper.
Most of the "Aus Post" sellers who are cheap are just shipping with a faster service from China, and repacked locally. Doesn't take as long, but still much longer than genuine local stock.
One of the filter is literally Item location: Australia Only
Didn't I already cover that???
Dropshipping is not a scam. Delivery can be slow but you should still get what you want.
That said, I’ve purchased hundreds of items off eBay and never once dealt with a drop shipper.
If you’re buying Temu/Alibaba type items then why are you surprised that dropshippers are used? And why are you bothered?
I don't know if I am dealing with multiple drop shippers. What I do know is that they appear to know nothing about the products they are selling.
some years ago I was selling outdoor products and Ebay effectively forced me to opt out. I am interested why you combime Temu/Alibaba. I haven;t used Temu at all, but quite a few yearsback I bought a range of business Stationery through Alibaba
No, if you know what you're doing then ebay is pretty reasonable.
Can get some nice deals from local shops on there. If you don't do your research and buy cheap junk or things that are priced way too cheaply then yes, you're going to get garbage.
Lodging any claim against a drop shipper on eBay can be a nightmare
Ebay is good for real oz stores/places.
Ebay is good if the seller has a very good rating and a HUGE number of feedback and has been around for a few years.Ebay overseas drop shippers are sneaky as f****k as they say they are Australian and ship via Oz post and have a OZ address, but they drop ship into the OZ delivery network in western sydney and the address is a return address run by Oz post in mist cases.
Thanks, that'a what i thought
yes ( proper answer is being dropshipped as we speak. answer available in 5 to 10 business days)
