Got one of these in a previous sale. The "wood" is absolute trash. The paper "wood" laminte was peeling off out of the box. Looks shit.

Parts also didn't line up without large amount of force (and still sits slightly askew).

    Avoid.

      Hard pass then, thanks!

lol I like the way you think. But honestly I'll eventually bin it.

    • Its been holding well for me since 2022. We dine on this more than the our dining table

    • I have exactly the same one and have experienced no such issue, it’s been great.

  • Got one of these a while back its been perfect! Has held up well good quality

I have one of these coffee tables from the last sale 2yrs ago. Functionally its decent, for everyday use its not so good, its spring lift not gas lift so it slams pretty hard. the wood is pretty much paper mache and the laminate has started peeling and discolouring already. I am currently now looking for a new coffee table because the top now looks well aged. I think when we first got it the box had a tiny dent which meant one of the panels had a chipped laminate panel to start.

Sounds like it's a level below IKEA which is poor quality also.

      • +3

Nah IKEA is premium compared this. Some cheap shit I got from Kmart is even better.

        • +1

idk… Kmart is 90% bottom of the barrel… For one item not a single panel from an item came undamaged, most with multiple locations of damage.

      • Mind you IKEA has 2 manufactures line, top end premium is the one with silent drawer, smash resistant Europe grade, the other one… you know the drill.

    • now looking for a new coffee table because the top now looks well aged

Because the laminate is such poor quaility the slightest bit of moister from a cup eats into it.

      • Yep, the laminate is might as well be paper wallpaper. You can almost see the moisture rings on my table so you either have to use a coaster every time or you will damage it. I was actually almost thinking of getting a cheap Specrite panel from Bunnings and cutting it to size and replacing the top. At least ill have a real wood top i can oil/wax and seal.

        • Wonder if that would be too heavy for the springs then but.

Be very careful with the quality of aldi's special buys. Some products are heading for landfill…. some are decent enough but for how long.

    • Second this, I have purchased a few set of side tables for bedrooms. Both are of similar price 50 bucks odd each but the quality varied between the two.

Aldi going down the path of let's give them crap

As others have said, avoid this - better to get Ikea / Kmart, better quality, less hassles for returns/warranties etc

    • They're the kings of product recalls.

      • All
        Lines
        Defective
        Immediately

        • lol you triggered some Aldi fanboy. Their marketing and paid info commercials on A Current Affair really brainwash some people.

          • @PainToad: Food wise they seems okay just stay away from tools and furniture… or maybe others unusual products.

This is a knock off of west elm industrial coffee tables, Get a second hand one off market place, they are beautiful.

    • Worked for me. Click the link, enter you post code, scroll down and it should show you stock at nearby stores.

      • strange, it doesnt work for me. tried different browser, clear caches..do you mind checking for me, brookvale 2100..thanks

        • Looks like it's not working for your region. Maybe try checking surrounding post codes.

          • +2

@MainlagToby: i thought that could be the case, i tried postcode all over sydney and still wouldnt work…thank you anyway

  • The structure, wood and spring mechanism are all okay - no problems there.
But as already mentioned, the laminate is awful and will rub away very quickly, especially if wiping with a damp cloth.
