Yet people only really want 9070 xt and 5080. Buying a 9070 is madness

Unless you have a lower wattage PSU - the 9070 (non-XT) only draws ~220w

      • For the power to price difference, I'd buy a new PSU to go with it. <$100 difference (edit: removed incorrect ram statement)

I'm wondering when we start to see sub $1,049 vanilla 9070s though. The Hellhound is an OC card, the Reaper is the base level. If they get down to $900 it becomes worth thinking about. $800 it's a bargain (in current GPU terms)

        • power to price difference

From what I understand, the difference is 10-15%, depending on the game.

Price difference of the cards is $100-300+ (depending on the model you can find in stock - cheap ones are really hard to find).

Assuming you have to upgrade your PSU (eg, a 600w) for the extra 35% power draw? Add $130-150 for a decent/gold 750w+ model…

Total: between $230 & $450 more to get the XT (depending on available models), for 10-15% extra frames. I don't think that's particularly good value.

Yes, this is a specific set of circumstances - but it applies to me. A brand new build? Definitely the XT. Upgrading? it depends

          • @barge-in hunter: Fair enough, if it was me I'd still buy the XT and undervolt it! :)

You're right on stock though, if I was buying a card today I'd get one of the top end 9070's like the red devil. My gaming PC is in the living room and the red devils are meant to be really quiet. Personally I'm just going to wait, that stock has been fairly regular this soon after launch means there's plenty around.

    • Buying a 9070 is madness

      Why?

      • +2

Because it is priced so closely to the 9070XT, which offers better value for money at MSRP.

          Good reason.. thanks.

          MSRP is not a thing.

MSRP for the RTX5070ti is actually $1509..

I bought mine from scorptec for $1509 + 15.09 credit card surcharge = $1524.09 total delivered at launch..
I have confirmed it on my receipt … it was the Gigabyte RTX5070ti windforce OC SFF

  • 9070 XT at $1249 vs RTX 5070 Ti at $1629

I think the price range is too much to justify the Nvidia solution.

If it was $1500 for a good AIB aftermarket cooler on a 5080, I think it'd be more reasonable.
