    great game

    • which blade runner movie is it based one? or is it its own thing?

Is it just update graphics in the game from 90s or a different game? The 90s one was supercool, like the movie, it was door to a new world where you collected junk and talked to cyborgs.

It's the original game with upscaled graphics. They lost all the original source material, so a lot of it has been remastered by AI. A lot of blur. The cutscenes have all been bumped up to 60fps.

I actually hate the remastered, prefer the original much better.

Thankfully you'll get both versions on Steam and GOG.

      • I guess some game developers didn't have proper game source backups back in the 90's.

Ryan Gosling is sooo dreamy in this game.

    • He's dreamy all the time

      Didn't realise he had narcolepsy

I had this back in the day. Pre-rendered background point and click game with 3D modelled characters, it was pretty cool.

    Also on GOG $3.69

"For the price of Blade Runner - Enhanced Edition, the original version of Blade Runner is also added to your GOG library. Both versions of the game will continue to be fully supported."

The Steam version comes with both versions as well. The original version is much better IMO.

      • +2

The GOG version is DRM free though. Always worth a bit more for DRM free games so that those copies are truly yours forever.

          Amen

Yes. Until GOG goes bankrupt one day and you can no longer redownload the games. And your game backup hard drive dies. Such a problem with digital downloads.

          • @hollykryten:

Until GOG goes bankrupt one day

Unlikely, even more unlikely it'll happen overnight.

your game backup hard drive dies

            User error

CDPR which owns GOG is not a small company

            • @payton: Don't think that it could never happen. Even multi billion dollar companies have known to have gone bankrupt in the past even recently. Companies which were worth more than CDPR.

              https://gfmag.com/data/worlds-biggest-bankruptcies/

Even big computer game companies such as Acclaim Entertainment and Midway went bankrupt. And they weren't small companies. Midway at one point used to be the fourth largest video game publisher in the world. And yet in the end it went bankrupt.

              https://electronics.howstuffworks.com/greatest-video-game-co…

So you tell me now that CDPR could never go under. Other video game companies larger than CDPR went under.

              • +2

@hollykryten: Any company can go under which is why the DRM free media is always preferred. That copy is permanently yours and cannot disappear if the company goes bust. Always worth paying a bit more for DRM-free media.

And your game backup hard drive dies.

It is not different to if cartridges fail or discs are badly scratched. At least with backup drives, they are incredibly robust and there are S.M.A.R.T. monitoring tools to tell you if a hard drive is in the danger zone.

The only time I had to replace my backup hard drives was when I decided to move to all SATA drives for backup and got rid of old IDE drives.

Years ago people complain of DRM media, and now we suddenly embrace it like our children? We live in strange times.

    • Thanks for the heads up! Including the original version too makes this a great deal.

oh man i gotta get this. i never had it back in the day but i remember the hype around it

    • +2

Love this game so much. Deserves a proper remake, not whatever this turned out to be.

    Enhance…… Enhance…..

This was amazing they took a few of the scenes from the novel that weren't in the movie and put them in the game
