  • Is rent an eligible payment, then?

    • Yes, both BPAY and NON BPAY billers, I sent them an email and that was the answer.

      • Do you have to email them to set up rent as this says

        • +1

You can send them an email and have them set it up for you, but you can also (which is what I did) upload any receipt or bill from your real estate that contains their ABN, BSB and account number details. Once you upload it, it lets you edit all the details anyway, so you can change the amount and make it recurrent.

          • @mauza: Thanks. For the '3 separate bills' here do 3 rounds of rent work or do they have to be different bills?

            • @Big-Deal: It is basically 3 payments, so I've split 1 week worth of rent in 3 payments in 3 consecutive days and got the points. One thing to note is that they also pay 1 point for every $10 you pay, so to maximise that, split your bill so each payment is multiple of 10.

              • +1

@mauza: Great thanks for the tip! Hopefully Sniip takes care of the rent email setup before this expires in 25 days

                • @Big-Deal: Sorry but why are you setting your rent payment up via email? Don't you have any bill or receipt from your real estate you can use? I didn't even upload the rent receipt, used a water bill from 2 years ago instead, so long as the ABN, BSB and account name is there, that is all they need. It will try get that information automatically but gives you the option to edit them all manually yourself, so doesn't really matter what you upload I believe.

                  • +1

@mauza: I tried and realised I have to do none of that because I pay rent through bpay so was able add directly as a bill. However, when I tried to add a bank account to pay, they wanted to verify my identity so still waiting

                    • @Big-Deal: Same here, they approved the biller after I sent the invoice but then they want both sides of my ID and a selfie before letting me pay. Decided against it.

                      • @deliriouss: Why? My verification came back approved next day

                        • @Big-Deal: Seems very over the top for what it is, and I have never heard of the third-party identity verification service they used. I would be more comfortable to hand over sensitive data if it was Australia Post Digital ID or Experian. Btw, I checked the them, you have 60 days from the date you sign-up to complete the criteria. 30 June is the deadline for sign up only.

              • @mauza: Someone below is contradicting your statement. Also seems like paying rent with bank account (free option) doesn't qualify you. Can you confirm if you used a different payment method

                • @Big-Deal: I don’t know if there is a special way to split a bill on their app, but I basically uploaded a photo of a water bill from 2 years ago from my real estate and changed the amount to pay and date to be $330, $340 and $340 ($10 extra just in case), in 3 consecutive days, did that for myself and my wife, got 5000 on both accounts. Paid mine with my ANZ Black and my wife’s with her Amex Ultimate.

Maybe if you upload an $1000 bill and change the amount to pay and date to 3 separate payments they might pick them up as the same bill.

By the way, I had raised something else regarding the eligible payment methods with them via email at the time and this was the response:

“Confirming eligible payment methods for the Qantas partnership are any eligible payments made with a valid Australian-issued Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card, American Express card (including personal card) or international/overseas issued debit and credit cards. Payments made via bank account, prepaid cards and Crypto.com cards are not eligible”

                  • @mauza: Thanks for that info so you did pay with card and bank account payments officially seem ineligible. But I don't have a suitable card so will have to give it a try with bank account anyway. Will see what happens

                    • @Big-Deal: Don't you have the debit card from the bank account you want to use? That is eligible just not the bank account directly.

                      • @mauza: Yeah but those have fees and I don't really have much value in Qantas points

                        • @Big-Deal: If you are only after the 5000 bonus points, it is still worth it even with the fees, you will pay $6.50 for 5100 Qantas points, but agree that for regular payments, like rent, it is not great, except if you have an Amex like the Ultimate that pays 1.25 points per dollar and the fee is 1.29%, so if you add the extra 1 point every $10 from Sniip, you end up buying the points for less than 1 cent which is cheaper than buying them from Woolies

                          • @mauza: But what can you use qantas points for? I don't need them for flights so will only be valuable if they can be converted to cash or good deal on gift cards or something similar

                            • +1

@Big-Deal: If not flying, not worth it then. I’ve been flying business internationally in peak season, points going for almost 5 cents.

Any confirmation whether payment via direct deposit on a bpay bill is eligible?

  • Nice! Points dropped into my QF account today… 5k bonus + 100 odd for the transactions I made (seems like it's 1 point per $10).
Not really worth using moving forward as the fees aren't worth the point ratio.

    • Did you pay the $1000 of bills via direct deposit or with visa/card?

      • +1

All on a CBA mastercard (credit)

    • Are they credited at the same time? I’ve just got 100 points for the bills but no sign of 5000 points anywhere (not showing on the loyalty tab of the app either) :(

      • Same time…
They dropped into my QF account all as seperate lines (3 x bills paid then the bonus of 5000)

        • Thanks.. I might need to send an enquiry then :(

          • @L159356: I’m in the same boat, paid 3 bills over $1000, was credited the QF points for those payments but not the bonus. How did you go?

  • Ah dang. I paid a $770 bill first then added the QFF info straight after. Hopefully it still qualifies.

  • +1

    Points credited, thanks OP!

Does anyone know if it has to be "only" three bills - or can pay "at least 3" (ie. more) as long as totals more than the $1000 in the 60 days?

    • Would like to know this too

    • At least 3

  • anyone can confirm if they got the 5k bonus points for paying bills from bank account? (ie 0% fee)

    • No i dont. You wont get points by paying with bank account

  • It would good for PAYG ATO payments. saves 0.7% CC fee from ato, pay 1.5% Sniip fee. get 5000 QFF and some amex points. yes three separate bills I know.

    • ATO has fee free payment option now

  • I'm a bit pissed off. I've been a Sniip customer for several years and wanted the 5000 bonus Qantas points as the normal Qantas points earn rate is awful.

I opened up another account (with promo code) using a different email and mobile number, but the systems were smart enough to detect I was already a customer and alerted my other account….

Existing customers were asking for Qantas points, and they got it, but only new customers reap the benefit of 5000 Qantas points. Existing loyal customers should receive some sort of bonus points too if they link their Qantas account. I'll now investigate using a different platform for bill payments going forward. I really dislike only new customers being rewarded.I hope Sniip is reads this.

    • how did they find out?

      • +1

They have sophisticated systems in place e.g. ID verification etc.

My main issue was linking my QFF number (before I knew about the 5000 points offer). I unlinked my QFF number and then opened a new account, but the systems knew my QFF was previously linked to another account.

What really annoys me is that people that had been using Sniip for years were asking for QFF points, and they only offer the 5000 bonus to new customers that will just receive the points, run and never use Sniip again. The bonus points should've been open to all members that do the spend…

        • Sniip are trash. When signing up for the account you use the code they should advise you if you are eligible before you make a transaction.

          • @kamelataturd: They still haven't even credited me the base points for my $530 payment a month ago. Yet others are receiving their 5K bonus points and running. I'm done with Sniip.

  • can i pay more than 3 bills to hit the 1k, or must it be 3 bills exactly?

  • 5k Points credited after using my CC to pay some bills.

    • what is the time frame bro

      • +2

Paid my 3rd bill on 4th Jun, got points credited to my account on 5th Jun. Note it has to be 3 seperate bills. I tried splitting payments on one of my bills and it didn’t recognise it as a separate bill. Only when I paid 3 separate bills did my points get credited.

        • great findings!

  • Does anyone know if you need to meet the target before 30 June (when the promotion ends), or if it is within 60 days from sign-up?

    • I emailed them and they confirmed you have 60 days from the date you sign-up to complete the criteria. 30 June is the deadline for sign up only.

  • +1

My wife opened an account for the first time and we paid bills using my (existing customer) credit cards. They said my wife is not eligible due to the system picking up on some ''overlaps''. My wife and I obviously would share some of the same details (e.g. address) and I don't see how using my credit card matters. She signed up to a new account and validated her ID using her driver's license. Despite doing this doesn't qualify as a new customer.

I don't get what eligibility requirements we did not meet. They have strict and hidden conditions as what counts as 'new customer'. It seems like opening an account for family member can easily be flagged as ineligble because you'd likely share some information/details with an existing customer that is family member.
