  • Damn! Just paid a $400 water bill 3 days ago!! And hard to use mastercard coz Amex not accepted!
T&Cs don't seem to have an end date, so may want to time this for when bills are due..

    • +2

      It’s for new users though.

      • +2

Yeh, i don't use sniip.. bill was due 3 days ago

        • Same, I normally use B2Bpay so I'm glad I can take advantage of this.

  • +5

T&Cs say no Qantas points (usually 10/$1) on bsb payments. It says for the promo 'eligible transaction types as detailed above', unclear if BSB is eligible or not. May have to pay a fee. Even $12.90 is worth it for 5,000 pts though.

    • +2

Sorry, I commented the wrong thing earlier.

Eligible Payment Methods that earn Qantas Points are any payments made with a valid Australian-issued Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card, American Express card or international/overseas issued debit and credit cards. Payments made via bank account, prepaid cards and Crypto.com cards are not eligible.

So it must be something that charges a fee.

      • +1

Yes, in the T&Cs there are two things Eligible Bill type and Eligible Payment type.

Payments to BSB are fine, but not via bank transfer

Looks like minimum fee 0.65% or $6.5 fee for 5000 QFF

        • At this point you can pay yourself $1000 via BSB and pay $6.5 for 5000 points.

          • @ATangk: Anyone confirm they sent themselves $1000 and received the points?

            • @Brick50: The Sniip terms forbid sending money to yourself so I would be careful doing this

  • good find OP. Totally worth it even with processing fees. Extra QFF points are hard to get, since woolies don't have any points offer on buying Visa/Mastercard Gift cards.

  • +5

Presumably I can do three separate Bpay payments equaling $1k for Superannuation contributions and this will count?

    • Good question, I'm also wondering if paying rent to DEFT account is eligible too…

      • +1

        It's all eligible.

      • But DEFT and Amex doesn't work, right? According to their faq?

        • Where does it say that? I just checked and BPay payment for rent goes to the DEFT BPay biller code …..

          • @adrianhughes1998: I enter bpay code and it says this biller does not accept this payment method.

In faq's: Why can't I pay DEFT with my Amex through Sniip?… Then a long answer about both being third party systems

Would love a workaround if you know one!

    • Let me know if this works…

      Gracias

    • Financial institutions are blocked

  • +1

So specifically only 3 bills, and it must be over $1000 with all 3 bills?

    • No, just 3 bills with the total cost totalling $1000 or more.

  • +1

Installed the app and entered the promo code but can't see where to enter my Qantas Frequent Flyer number. Where is that Loyalty field???

    • +2

In the options menu at the top left

      • The Loyalty menu item only appeared after the account was verified. It works now!

  • +5

Don't be like me. I signed up without the promo code because the keyboard on my screen was blocking it.
Realised my error, deleted my account and started again.
This breached the terms of the promo as I was no longer a 'New User'.

Currently chatting with support to see if they can resolve it.

    • Can’t you register a new account?

      • +3

Yeah but I'd have to use someone else's phone number.

Live chat managed to sort it for me in the end, quite impressed with their service.

    • Thats just shit UI design there.

  • If I pay 2 bills, and its already over $1000, is that enough???

    • +1

No, as it says 3 seperate bills.

      • Does this mean that the 3rd bill has to be the one that brings total of all 3 over $1K?

        • +1

No it doesn’t have the one that brings it over. It just need to be 3 separate bills paid totalling over $1000.

        • And they say i am slow

  • +5

The fee for amex is lower than visa/mc credit, that's very interesting

  • Also if you are running your own business or are paying investment related bills (eg on your investment property), consult your accountant to find out whether the fees are deductible for tax.

    • So is it deductible or not

  • +1

Thanks OP, just in time as I'm in a rush to get Qantas points club before October.

    • +1

      Why October? Another devalue?

      • +1

Qantas Frequent Flyer Devaluation: Higher Award Costs, With A Silver Lining

As of October 2025, Qantas Frequent Flyer will increase the number of partner award options that members have access to, with up to one million extra international Classic Reward seats annually. Specifically, we’ll see the introduction of premium economy awards on Air France, Finnair, Iberia, and KLM, as previously that cabin wasn’t bookable on those partners with Qantas Frequent Flyer points.

We’ll also see Qantas Frequent Flyer members get access to Classic Reward seats on Hawaiian, unlocking more opportunities to travel to and from Hawaii.

        • Hah, thanks… As guessed lol

        • Yea in aware of the 20% points cost increase for international flights. It sucks. But I'll still try to use up some points before the increase is in effect.

          • +1

@donman92: I actually misread your post and saw only "Qantas points", not "Qantas points club". So I had assumed you were after points in a rush due to additional partner airline award seats becoming available in October as per the quoted article.

But Points Club is a different matter and I would presume the October rush has to do with your deadline for reaching the 150,000 qualifying requirement, rather than the partner award availability being added in October.

20% points cost increase for international flights.

The points cost for upgrades and for domestic flights will also be increasing by up to ~20%.

Perhaps most importantly, the $$$ cash payment will increase on business and first class reward seats - in many cases doubling or even more.

On routes between Australia and Vancouver, Dallas, New York and Santiago, for example, the carrier charges on a return Business Class booking will increase from $430 to $1,050.

Then again, that's assuming you can find a business or first class reward seat in the first place :)

            • @UrMumsOnlyFan: Sad times ahead for me after all those points but I'm not surprised; cost of living has doubled therefore points are easier to accumulate.

              • @donman92: Sad times indeed. I don't mind (too much) the points cost increasing, but the $$$ cash payment doubling or more on business/first reward seats is BS.

            • @UrMumsOnlyFan: So true. QFF points have never been so easy to accumulate, but never been so hard to spend, on flights anyway. Almost impossible to find a business class seat to anywhere, even 330 days in advance, and if you are travelling as a couple, you're in real trouble. Qantas are just big fat greedy meanies these days.

              • @HappyPants:

QFF points have never been so easy to accumulate

While points from everyday spend may be up due to cost of living, it has never been a worse time in terms of credit card churning (lower bonus offers, greater likelihood of rejection, much longer exclusion periods between reapplying, etc). I am very pessimistic about what the future holds in that regard.

Almost impossible to find a business class seat to anywhere, even 330 days in advance

Note that looking in advance is almost meaningless these days (except perhaps for a minority of certain routes). See Reward Seat Release Patterns Have Changed Fundamentally from 2023.

Random batch availability is the new normal for QFF unfortunately.

              • +3

@HappyPants: If you haven't already check out flightseat.io

                That site is so good

  • Paid 3 bills, total over $1K. Thanks OP!

Assuming one can't stack this with $10 referral?

    • Nothing to say that it can't

      • Would also like to know…

        • +2

Confirmed you can stack it 👍

          • @tamerg: How did you use the referral also?

When signing up it only allows once option for inputting a code.

And support wasn't helpful either - said it's either / or.

            • -1

@movieman: They both appear under the Rewards menu. Referral only works if you haven’t yet made a payment.

    • -1

You can just enter QF promo code on sign up then enter referral code after sign up in rewards tab.

      • +5

Doesn't work for me - says This offer is no longer available. Tried 20 different referral codes from ozb

Haven't made a payment yet as per @tamerg

  • Does it work out better value to use this than just paying directly by credit card with the fees etc?

  • Does this mean we can double dip on points? E.g. use a credit card that can generate QFF points. So we'll get 5k bonus points from sniip + $1k worth of transaction from credit card.

  • +1

Since BPAY and reference number stays same in all the bills, just pay extra to your utilities company and they’ll add it as a credit against your next bill

Sniip doesn’t have a way to know if your bill is due and how much is due.

    Question
Can you pay rates notice, rego as well?

    • Can you pay rates notice, rego as well?
      Yep

  • +1

    say if I have a $1200 bill, can I split it into 3 x $400 payments?

    • Was wondering the same!

    • +3

Yes. You can put whatever amount in.

      • +1

        Thanks former PM!

    • +1

Thanks Prime Minister & Huiyoh Master :)

    • +2

You can but this would not meet the eligibility criteria for this deal as per point #4 which says "Pay 3 separate eligible bills, totalling $1,000 or more within 60 days"

  • I just signed up and tried to make payment but it requires ID verification. Anyone facing the same requirements?

    • pay by wallet doesn't need ID verification

      • Do you mean to pay a BPAY bill using apple wallet (card) does not require ID verficiation? Thanks

        • yeah I just did one more today so don't have to use real name

  • +1

Does it work together with 10$ off referral code? Double dip will be even sweeter

    • I clled and asked and they said it does 🙂

  • +1

Sounds like a contribution to your super fund/ATO would do the trick.

  • Thanks OP!

I'm new to amex - to the experts in the chat, I see this solves bills, ATO, etc.. are there any solutions to making credit card payments that don't accept Amex, other than buying prepaid visa/mastercards?

    I've tried searching..

  • can you pay a credit card bill with sniip? (Through BPAY)

    • Only from a bank account. It doesn't allow to pay credit card bill with a credit card payment method.

      • thanks for the reply! I'd assume I can do 3 seperate transactions from my bank account to reach the $1000 too?

        • Nah, it excludes transactions where the source is a bank account; probability because they're free.

  • If this is for new users only, should that be in the subject?

    • +1

I think I included it before but then the content got edited (I may be wrong) I’ve (re?)included into the title

  • Is this platform similar to Rewardpay? I’ve been using RP for a number of years on business however the rate on Amex personal is very competitive. Cheers.

  • Can I pay a fine with this through BPAY?

  • I paid with Apple Pay and just realised I don’t think that counts for the bonus points :-(

  • Can I use the same AMEX card on 2 accounts?

    • I dont see this TC but leave anyone having experience to answer. The only thing i doubt is you cant connect same amex to 2 accounts.

    • Yes you can.

  • +1

I tried to pay rent into DEFT but showing AMEX not supported :(

    • Yeah it says that in their faq, bummer

    • you can pay rent using sniip's pay to bsb account number feature.

or you can go to deft's website and pay using your amex for a 1.5% fee

      • Keen on opinions - would you cop 1.5% Amex fee for 2.25/$ Amex points?

        • +1

Yes, the worse case for points is using the Amex points as points for credit. At 2.25 MR points this would equal to 1.125c. That means at worse case you should be accepting a 1.125% surcharge.

When you factor in that It’s not that hard to get 3c per airline point (or 2 membership reward points) easily justifiable

  • Does it charges cash advance fees if uses amex to make bpay payments

    • No

  • Can I pay more than 3 times totalling $1,000 or more?
